Title: RADIO SETUP
Description: EXPONENTIAL ADJUSTMENT

KADET KID - May 9, 2007 05:16 AM (GMT)
I'm setting up my first non-trainer plane, which is a decathlon. The control surfaces are a lot bigger than on my trainer. Can anyone recommend a starting point for my exponential settings to soften the controls for the rudder, elevator, and ailerons. Tim took it up for it's maiden voyage and told me that the controls were to sensitive. Any suggestions would be helpful!

And a special thanks to Don K for breaking in my new engine!

I set mine at -35 on Hi and Low rates....

That may be fine for Don's plane (which is NOT a Decathlon, right?)
His settings sound high to me, but then, I like my controls VERY responsive! :yickes:

But it's how sensitive you want the controls to be.

Best thing is to set a fairly high number, test it and lower it to suit.

But you have been flying for a little longer then he has
You don't panic and over coltrol when things don't go just right :o

I think he is saying that he doesn't want the controls to be real sensitive.

He could leve them at the defaulf setting, and you could fly the plane with him, then tone it down to his likeing  ( I just say you, because you are his Instructor)

Well, not just me. David and Steve have taken him up too.

At least Todd had Tim McLeod test the Decathlon for me.

I SHOULD have no problems if Todd ever asks me to fly it...

thank you don and flying dutchman for your advice! I wan't the plane to be a little civilized at first, and then gradually increase the responsiveness. :yickes:
