Johnny_J - March 1, 2007 01:24 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone!
I think this is where I'm supposed to post this.
I didn't find any other forum that was any closer to the right one. :hmm:
Anyways, here's a prieview of the RCL that should work well.
Wish me luck! If all goes we'll have some kids test it this Sunday.
Johnny_J - March 3, 2007 02:14 AM (GMT)
Tried to test it today.
First one- bad launch.
Secound-better launch.
Third- good launch engine died. :parachute:
Fourth- Forgot to turn on radio. :banghead:
fifth-Battery dead.
What did I get good out of this you say- Survived without a scratch!
Maybe better results tomorrow!

Johnny,
Don't forget to range test your radio ;) :D
alvinonline - March 3, 2007 06:35 AM (GMT)
Hey Johnny, does that wing have any vertical fin/s?
Good idea on the range check Don.
kenny2 - March 3, 2007 06:52 AM (GMT)
Is that a cox 049 I see on that wing?
Johnny_J - March 4, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Tried to charge the batteries and found some bad cells in the new pack!
Will replace the pack and give it another try.
I'll definantly range test the radio, Thanks Don, been furgetin that one.
It doesn't need vertical fins on a string. I think! The right thrust of the engine and the outer weight of the innards should keep enough tension on the string to keep it
streached out straight. What U think Alvin?
Yep Kenny that is an .049. After the test launches I saw that it was pleanty power.
All I have to do is get the kinks worked out and some more good launches and I think it will work great.
I think it might even do loops.
We'll have to let Alvin try that after some kids try to fly it first! ;)
Johnny_J - March 6, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
It FLEW! :yickes: :bigplane:  :spin:
After a radio check, some fresh fuel, and crossed my fingers.
The first launch was not successful. it ended in about 10 feet.
Tried to launch a little further forward of the circle and Viola!(some woman I think) :hyper:
A complete circle was made with the line staying tight and the plane flying level and easy at the sticks.
Then the engine loss power which was found to be the glow plug bad.
Upon the, what I thought to be a smooth landing, the prop cought the ground and broke the firewall aloose.(thats about 8 hard landings until something as major as that) I think thats pretty tough!
I will epoxy the firewall when it warms up a try to make a few more rounds before I make it to the airfield!
See ya'll there!

LOL! :boxers:
Hey Alvin. You think you could make a sticker of the ACMA logo for the wing?
Johnny_J - April 2, 2007 12:27 AM (GMT)
Sorry to say that the wing is history.
But there's hope the radio is being mounted back on the trainer that was the beginning of all this RCL and the new brodak engine is mounted along with the tank.
After I find my other regulator. I will be bringing it to the field next sunday.
See yall there! :parachute: :bigplane:
Avistar 2 - April 7, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
Where's the rest of the plane?????
Flying Dutchman - April 7, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
There is no REST OF THE PLANE... <_<
What you see is what he flies...
Johnny_J - April 7, 2007 09:57 PM (GMT)
The only problem with the wing setup is tghere is no slow starts which allow the line to stay tought without a snapback effect. I got lucky the one time but couldn't recreate exactly what I did again. So I removed the electronics and reinstalled it on the trainer I first had it in and added the Brodak engine and it works o.k. now. Tested it out today and she flies! :spin:  :yickes: :bigplane: :roflmao:
