If your favorite brand is not listed in poll, make a reply here with your choice.
The only computer I have ever had is my old faithfull Racer which for those never heard of them, was local computer manufactuer a few years back.
It has held up amazingly well for what had to be a sort of cheapo intro PC.
Been successfully updated some over the years. Serves the purpose.
But...I voted for Dell because I have heard more good things about them and less negatives than other brands.
Prob best way to go would be to build your own if you have sense enough to.
I don't and would more than likely let the smoke out during first boot.

I chose dell because they have the best deals, and ditto what Alvin said.
But I really like those Andy built computers. I have had 2 of those and they work just great. And for those of you who don't know what I am talking about "don't try to go online and try to find this computer, because you won't find it.

I'm tied between dell and home built. I like the home built as I can put whatever components in that I want, ie sata, hi po dvi vid card, etc. I have to say though that my last/current computer is a dell (couldn't pass up the deal, a 2.4 gig 800 mgz front side bus, etc for $400 brand new from the manufacturer) and it's been great!!!!!!!!!

No doubt Uncle Andy.
I just might have to call on you if I ever take the plunge into the challenging world of computer construction.
I want to really scratch build it by takeing a hunk of silicone and carving away everything that don't look like chip.
But, everytime I start to get a new computer or think of ordering stuff to put together, my ol Racer perks up and really goes to working good. <_<

A custom build is the only way to go for me. You reallllllly know what you are getting when you do that.... :D I guess owning a computer business you build couple every now and then.
