Does anyone think that it is possible to convert a gasoline burning Quadra into a diesel fuel burning engine?

That is something I have not thought of before.

Would like to know answer myself.

Probably possible, but must be some down side or we would have seen it done and used, or maybe it has been and just escaped my attention.

Someone with lots of small gas engine knowledge will post the answer and some information soon, I hope.

Wondering just what the advantages of the possible conversion would be?
Price of fuel would be about the same.
Maybe more power/torque/reliability?

There has been a lot of engines converted to diesel fuel and run quit well.
First it has to have a lot of compression to start and after it has warmed up a bit then the compression has to be decreased some or it will start to knock.
I converted a OS 40 FP with a Davis diesel and it did very good. Took a lot of practice to get it setup right but once you did it had lots of power. And run for 25 to 30 min. on an 10oz tank.
The biggest problem with diesel is the mess it makes all over the plane.....and I mean MESS!!!!!
Also its not the same fuel that you can buy at a gas station!! A small engine would need a lot of compression to run gas station diesel.
All in all it was cool to play with but to much trouble to set up every time you want to fly and not every Hobby shop keeps diesel in stock.

The consensous of openion among several knowledgeable people is that it can probably be done, but they see no real benefits and a lot of trouble rebuilding it to run halfway right on diesel.

Anyone know of it actually being done and how successfull for RC model airplane use?
