Title: FALL FEST 2006
Tal - October 16, 2006 11:57 PM (GMT)
I would just like to let everyone know about this great heli funfly thats going to happen next month. Its in Sulfur LA. Just on the other side of Lake Charles.
On the 3,4,5. This is the one and only club that I have ever seen to be as nice as our club, besides AMA headquarters. Plenty of benches, and a shed for at east a 100 to get under. If you got the weekend off, drive on over. Its only a short five hour drive. Unless you do a 100MPH. It will only take you 3 hours.
Hope to see you there.
TONY F - October 17, 2006 12:14 AM (GMT)
;) Tal working on trying to get up a trip over sound like fun.
Slappy - October 17, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
Hmm, maybe I could hitch a ride with ya, and split the gas? That would be awesome!
Later,
Jake
Tal - October 17, 2006 12:57 PM (GMT)
Good luck Tony, Hope you can get'm to go.
alvinonline - October 17, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
Tony and Steve are twisting my arm real hard to go, but I have not decided yet.
I might have to be keeping my sister's little dog that weekend and someone has to cook for the scale eventers.
I would probably just choke and crash my Titanium in the autos.
Whatever vehicle we go in, will we have room for all the prizes on return trip?

I'll drive the brand new CRV if you want, it should be able to hold a few prizes as long as you don't go nuts and win every event.
alvinonline - October 19, 2006 03:33 PM (GMT)
Looks like I will now have the dog sitting thing out of the way before the big chopper meet in LA.
I am to meet my sis/broinlaw/dog at the El Gyro mexican place on Government tomorrow for a free feed and the dog swap.
I am going to sic Little Belle on those peskie kittens at field this weekend. :boxers:
Leaning toward going to the chopper meet at this time.
Me, Tony, and Steve all locked up together in the CRV for five or six hours on trip and I can see a :toot: ing contest getting started and yawl know how Steve and Tony have the competative spirit and can't stand to get bested. I am going to get me a bag of Tacos and a big order of refried beans to eat on the trip.
We must have :chopperbrain: on the brain.
Slappy - October 19, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
Thats funny! Good luck Steve and Tony!
Later,
Jake
Mike - October 19, 2006 08:07 PM (GMT)
Wait just a second, if Tony and Alvin are gone, who's going to cook at the Scale Fly-In? This is unacceptable.
TONY F - October 19, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
:o Mike that would leave Andy & you. :P
alvinonline - October 19, 2006 11:21 PM (GMT)
I may not be going now. :( :hmm:
I had a deal going for some extra traveling money :twocents: and it fell through. :crying:
The scalers like Mike would be dissapointed if I did not stay and cook.
But I am still working on it. If the price for gas can drop to two dollars a gallon. Got some today at WallyWorld gas station for $2.07 a gallon.

alvinonline - October 20, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
Yawl just did not want me to go anyways. :crying: :paci:
Just because Tony got lucky and won a combat match, he thinks he is so bad. :boxers: :fullmoon:

It's been a busy week and somehow I missed this post before, but for the record there is a strict no Tooting rule :toot: in the new CRV, I don't want to loose the new car smell so soon. I will pull over whenever You have the need to relieve yourself.
But if we did have such a contest (in someone elses vehicle), I would win just like I would have won Combat if Tony hadn't played dirty and destroyed my airplane.
TONY F - November 3, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Headed out in the Morning with Alvin,Steve & Morgo. :chopperbrain:
alvinonline - November 3, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
I sure do hope that I can get up at about 3:00 AM so i can meet them at 4:00 AM.
Tony said that if I was not there by 4:15 AM they were going without me.
Might be best if I just stay up and don't go to sleep.
Or I could sack out at AutoSave and be right there for the meet up.
Or I could pull an all nighter at Candy Store or Waffle House.
I sure want to be there to see Tal doing his 3D stuff for his fellow Century folks.
I think that Tony and Steve are taking choppers and going to fly also.
They have a sepperate area all set up for beginners. Hover practice and such.
Don't know if I will fly or not. Sky be so crowded and long wait for pin. Probably mostly "Flipping & Flopping" flying going on. Might be couple hundred pilots registared. Might just enter auto contest "Ron Lund's Auto For Dollars" as long as I am out there.
Ought to be some good BBQ and Cajun food available.
jonkoppisch - November 3, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Go tear em up Alvin!!!!!! Show em how to do it!!!! ;) ;) ;)
Flying Dutchman - November 3, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
Looks as if you'll have to do the demo, Alvin!
I just talked to Tal an hour ago (he's already at the Heli Fall Fest) and he just crashed his Freestyle today! :yickes: Caused by the voltage regulator...
But he's got it pretty much back together and hopes to fly it tomorrow...

I just talked to Tal, he said he got it all fixed up and back together in time to get in 1 flight tonight just before dark. So he is good to go tomorrow, he said is wasn't very crowded at all and anyone who shows up tomorrow shouldn't have any problem getting a pin.
I'm ready, I put one test flight on my rebuilt Titan this afternoon, then I packed it away to make sure it was ready to go to Sulpher.
alvinonline - November 4, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
Steve,
We can hang with the Titan/ium Team and slum over to the Century area to speak to Tal, Scott, English Bob, and Tony.
I hope they have at least one real turbine chopper flying. Never seen/heard one of those yet.
Being out there in SW Louisana maybe they have the Margarita machine cranked up early. I give them a demo on that and also on the BBQed Cajun food.
The mess will be in back of Steve's new vehicle where I will be laid out for return trip hugging my Auto prize.
alvinonline - November 5, 2006 06:47 AM (GMT)
Steve, Tony, and myself just got back in town from Sulphur.
Had us a good supper meal at the LARKS field and we made it in just before midnight.
Supper was Jambolia, corn, snapbeans, rolls, green salad and desert.
And for the adults, they had a Margarita machine going and serving them up all you could handle. Some night flying going on in the background.
I did not win anything and could not even get past the preliminary qualifing round in auto contest, but i did fly some and brought my chopper back intact. Tony sold his Hawk Pro while out there and Steve's Titan came back more compact than it was on trip out.
Scott, Tony, and maybe others took some pictures out there and we will have a report one way or the other soon.
We took the senic route out to Sulphur because I was supposed to be navigating and fell asleep and we went on the I-10 loop down through New Orleans and got to see lots of Katrina aftermath still present.
alvinonline - November 5, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
Here are some "Fall Fest 2006" pictures taken by one of the "Century" factory guys.
A turbine powered chopper.

Tal Fowler and his new "Century Freestyle" custom painted canopy.

The chow line with Tal's wife Stacy getting her some.

The auto contest crowd and Alvin doing some flying.
alvinonline - November 7, 2006 05:45 AM (GMT)
Lookie what I found.
The last picture taken by the Century factory guy on Sunday at Sulphur and it looked mighty familar to me.
Looks like Tony Farmer left something out there. Hope the new owner enjoys flying it. I think the flame paint job sealed the deal.
Tal - November 7, 2006 06:54 AM (GMT)
There is also a picture of Scotts Trex with new blades matching his canopy.
Hey Tony,
Your old heli was flying by Sunday afternoon.
They made three or four flights on it with no problems.
I think Cody is going to be happy with it.
alvinonline - November 7, 2006 09:22 AM (GMT)
Is this the picture of Scott's Trex?
I think it must be. Mighty pretty.
I remember him and English Bob really working on it.
TONY F - November 7, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
:santa_smiley: Yes, that is a nice looking Heli & after spending about $850.00 dollars on new heli & radio I wish I had it back. :heli_smiley:

alvinonline - November 8, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
A couple of pictures from Tony's camera.
More pictures will be in a future Pits Report.
