Title: Best Engine Type
Description: Wondering what to start with.
Lester - May 13, 2004 05:36 PM (GMT)
Sort of new to this RC airplane hobby.
I have run RC glo powered cars/trucks.
What would be a good running mid size glo engine to start out with?
I want one that cranks easy and you don't have to fiddle with too much.
Thanks for any help. :)

Mustangman,
Thanks for the help.
Is that os46 a two or four stroke engine?
I heard that OS is good two strokers and Satio (sp?) makes good four strokers.
Any truth to the Satio being good four stroke engines?

Lester, you know you are not allowed to handle flammable liquids  . You better stick to electric :P

How much does one of those OS 46 engines cost?
Wonder if they have any out at the Hobby Town USA store?

the thunder pro 46 is also a great engine and is cheaper. I used one in three airplanes and then sold it, and I think it is still flying for someone.

Yea Evon I had your old TT 46 ran great. B)

That engine just won't die, went I purchased it new it had a bent needle valve which took me a while to figure out. Probably drop in shipping. But once I corrected that it was perfect. set and forget engine.

The thunder tiger 46 I have always kept over heating on me. :(

Yeah, me to.
I had a Thunder Tiger one time that you could cook toast on it. :crying:
Have seen some that ran good though.
Just the luck of the draw. ;)

hi os 46 is to fast for a :santa_smiley: Trainer |
Depends on the trainer plane.
Is just right for a mid-sized (40 class) trainer plane.
Not really enough engine for the larger (60 class) trainer planes.

O.S. 46 is very good for a 40 size trainer or sport plane  I have two 46FX and I just bought a 46AX (Thay don't make the FX any more). I also have a Evolution 46 it's not as good as the O.S. I also have three Saito four strokes a 56 a 72 and a 100. The 56 has been infor repair three times and is broke again (junk) the 72 needs bearings, the 100 is new and runing ok so far. :) I also just bought a O.S. 70 Surpass Four Stroke, it has only five runs on it :) .I LOVE my O.S. engines  I WILL ONLY BUY O.S. ENGINES
