Title: Bad week for Heli's... real bad for me!!!
Slappy - August 7, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
Well, Scott, Tal, and I spent all day tryin to get the Predator flying right (by the way thanks for all the help guys). And when we finally get it close, I take it out for a short hover right before dark... and I get it up once, its freak awesome! hands off hovering, lol!
I set it back down to settle my nerves and try to take off agian, the headspeed goes alittle high and its not lifting off around 1/2-2/3 throttle so I slowly start to ease off and its violently jerks to the side and smacks the blade on the ground and then into the boom!!! and 2 of my links are off my servos!!!
So all in all I get kinda mad at myself for not checking everything, and its gonna cost me about $200 to fix!
Bummer,
Jake

You don't know the half of it, you weren't even there this weekend!
Let me give you a hint. You now know one seventh of it.

Mike's right, I think Scott and I could fix all the 30's and 50's for the price of both the Gasser crashes... makes me sick, lol
Later,
Jake

Yeah... It was a bad chopper weekend all right... <_<
Four crashed on Saturday. First "Little Don" Koval (he's Don's grandson, Rick's son) and his Scaedo, then Steve and his new T-Rex (?), followed by Michael and his Raptor ("Auto, auto!", everyone yelled, but he shouldn't have...), followed by Frits and his Hawk (he tried to auto, but he couldn't, because of a headspeed of a mere 1/30 rpm...)
Three more crashes — two were high-dollar ones — happened on Sunday. First Scott Godbee put in his fine Predator Gasser. He "dumb-thumbed" it, by his own admission.
Then Frits craashed his second Hawk. Engine speed got too low. Almost identical crash to his Hawk crash on Saturday, except from a higher altitude. The damages were the same. Two crash kits plus some landing gear struts should fix both Hawks right up. :)
Then Jake and his big, hardly used Predator Gasser bit the dust, as Jake described. :yickes:
I'll be back!...

 I tell you what that T-Rex crash Saturday set me back about 5 whole dollars :yickes: and about an hours work repairing it. Then do to my own stupidity, I bent the spndle shaft on Sunday and that cost me another .50 cents or so and another 15 minutes of repair time.
I am holding my breath to see if Scott, Jake, Mike, Frits and Donald are going to take up a collection and help me out with $5.50 for the repair costs. That would only be $1.10 from each of them and I wouldn't have to eat the entire repair cost all by myself. I guess there is nothing they can ever do to get me that hour and 15 minutes of my life back.
This has been my sad story, your sympathy is appreciated. :crying:
JK - I believe humor is the best medicine, sorry about all your nice choppers getting dinged up. I hope you all get them fixed up good as new and get at least 100 nice flights before having another incident.
