Good News!!! The Runway is getting Paved!!!
I went out to fly today, drove in thru the wide open front gates looked ahead and saw all kinds of construction equipment!!! The first layer of asphalt has been put down and the runway prepped for final layer hopefully tomorrow. If you want to come by and say thanks and do some flying for the workers the runway should be open sometime around 1 tomorrow!!!!!

Not too sure about the timeing on the completition of the paving job.
It rained more down at field Wednesday afternoon and is mighty boggy and wet.
Those dump trucks have to cross over some soft areas to get to runway and have already rutted it up some.
Just depends on how the weather goes tonight and in the morning.
Just a heads up on not counting on any particular time for a ribbon cutting unless all goes without a hitch.

You're right Alvin. Should have said weather and schedule permitting.....

Just left the club about 1 hour ago. About one quarter of the runway has been paved. Equipment is still there but nobody using it. Anyone know how to operate heavy machinery?

Yep...And looks like it might be sitting there for a while. :hmm:
Wednesday they built up the bad dip in the runway with the job you saw today.
Were going to get a complete resurfaceing all slicked over entire runway today, but was too boggy to get dump trucks of asphalt to runway I hear.
Too boggy to get equiptment off the end of runway also I reckon.
And might be some time before it drys out enough for work to continue.
Any other year we would be having a months dry spell. I know there has been more grass to cut this late spring than last nine years down there.
We will just have to do best we can dodgeing around the roller and spreader.
Could figure some way to make a new game/contest out of this situation some how.
Sort of like bowling, but the pins don't knock over so easy.

I think we need a big bullseye on the roller at the end of the runway :D

Just eating, drinking, and chaseing wild gals. :P
Now I wonder who Osirus711 could be?
JOKEING
Come on and fly

Just got back from Irvington Field.
County road crew got rest of their asphalt runway patch job finished.
Rained a little on them, but they hung in till got job finished.
We cooked up some good food and served to them during lunch break.
The superviser said they would come back and tidy up where the equiptment had left some ruts down on South end of field. When they can get some dry dirt to work with and field is less boggy.
Runway lot smoother now and has been test flown off of already.
Had to keep the wheels turning or would melt/stick to the still hot asphalt.

That is good news. :D
That ledge where the runway had sunk in always bounced my plane back in the air when least expected. :bigplane:
Hate I missed the good feed, but I have caught my share at field in past.
Just happy that they are willing to help us out on ocassion.

I used the bump to get my planes into the air a little faster :o I don't know if I'll be able to get the kangaroo off the runway now or not
