Title: ATTENTION! Important Notice for ALL members!

CocoTapioka - June 6, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Following the example of the much beloved Exquisite, I'm instituting a new policy, mainly due to the sheer amount of members (especially new ones) and an unproportionate amount of new posts. Anyone who has talked to me lately knows I've been mulling over this for a little while now, so it's not really out of left field.

While the problems that caused the board to be restricted in the first place have stopped, I can honestly say I'm disappointed in how many people have joined the board and have not posted *once*. (There are over 100 members who have never posted. That's more than half, people.) I won't lie.

Renee is currently in a front-burner storyline with a new love interest (Cristian) and another potential one that's picking up steam (Todd). She's rocking the house with the defense of Todd and adjusting to her character's blindness, and it sucks that this isn't being translated into posts.

Please don't think I'm doing this to force the post count up, or anything like that. Introducing yourself makes a world of difference, and it doesn't matter what pairing you support.

Which is why I'm doing a board-wide clean up.

I understand that some people are newbies still getting accostomed to the board, so this will not happen immediately.

Members who have 0 posts by JULY 20TH will be deleted.

The possibility for board sweeps on a regular basis is still undecided. If that changes, I'll let everyone know.

Thank you,

Tara (The Admin)

ImMadAsHell - June 6, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
I was scare for a minute. I thought somebody was claiming about something I said.

CocoTapioka - June 6, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Hahaha. Don't worry about it.

whitbrookfan4life - June 6, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Sounds great to me.

As you know we are having a similar issue at EXQ, except brook isnt even really front burner right now, as she should be. at least REG is. thats great, and should be reflected by a busy board.

unfortunately, i rarely get to watch OLTL (PSSNS is on at the same time), or else i would post a lot more here, but im still a fan.

sometimes as Admins we have to turn "mean," but its part of the job. we just want the best showing for the person we love so much that we created these communities in the first place, so that other fans could congregate and share.

but, you can't -make- ppl post, thats for sure, still hopefully this change will -cause- some change.

good luck with it.

LaTee - June 6, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
I'm so guilty! My bad chica but I will speak up more often. ;)

Armjmi - June 6, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
Gulity :( as charged glad that Renee is front and center

ncsucheer2 - June 6, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)
Sounds good to me! I always try to post when I can esp. about the fanfics! LOVE them!

insight spinner - June 7, 2006 01:12 AM (GMT)
sounds like a good policy, coco. I rarely post on the web-based sites, as I prefer the freedom of working from my email, so you are welcome to delete me now and know that we are still family in support of REG. I am always supporting her and striving to get her a storlyine that is worthy of her talents and entertaining.

Have fun, kids.

i'm sorry. sometimes i'm just a lazy typist. will definitely try to do better. :thumbsup

Sagittarius77 - June 7, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
Sounds like a plan.

CocoTapioka - June 7, 2006 02:01 AM (GMT)
Don't worry, I'm only deleting people that don't bother to post at all. I love that so many people are joining, I just wish that some would post more.

I'm glad you guys agree with me. :)

Borgona - June 7, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
Nice way to say hello, isn't it?

I understand the policy and I don't see any problem in it. I do have a question to ask, so I'll explain where I'm coming from first. On boards that I go to on a regular basis, I do not post much, I lurk. I read the posts and if I have something to add that is worthwhile, I'll speak. Otherwise, it's as if I'm droning on about nothing, repeating what others say, and not adding anything of substance to a conversation.

As far as feedback for fiction goes, on other boards, I have always given feedback via PM, if I like the fic (Haven't done that here because didn't like something I read, and it wasn't the fiction, which is damned good...) or I simply don't say anything at all. I write fic myself, and I know the value and appreciation of positive feedback or constructive criticism.

So, here is the question: Is there going to be a monthly/weekly posting quota? Do you look at the last activity date and take it into consideration?

Marisela

CocoTapioka - June 7, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
I understand, in terms of lurking. I have done a fair share of it myself. I just found it odd that there were more nonposting member than there are posters. There were other factors that went into it, but I won't discuss it here.

As for your question (a good one, btw), there will be no posting quotas. One post minimum, period, is really all I'm asking for. The Admin system is designed with an option to delete membs below a certain amount of posts and that's it.

If you haven't posted in six months or whatev, doesn't mean you're (as in the collective "you're") on the chopping block, so you don't have to worry about that. :)

johnandvan - June 7, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Thanks for letting me know.

SapphireGirl - June 7, 2006 03:32 AM (GMT)
Thanks. I confess I'm one of those new members who hasn't visited the board and/or posted since joining. I'll definitely make an effort to be more active in the community.

Miss Marie - June 7, 2006 04:46 AM (GMT)
Hey Tara, I agree with what you're doing. It's only fair to do what you need to do to make sure that the site is being used for the purpose it was created.

I am a huge fan of REG and have made lots of friends with other fans here. It's the reason I love to post and of course people here treat each other with respect for the most part.

Keep up the good work Tara, you're doing a great job.

glam.kitty - June 7, 2006 05:38 AM (GMT)
I too am guilty. Sorry, it's just I've never been one to talk much in RL so I guess it carries over. But I will do my best to nip that and post.

ebeenzer87 - June 7, 2006 06:52 AM (GMT)

elliehubb - June 7, 2006 12:22 PM (GMT)

I do post here but I haven't posted at Exquisite and don't want to me removed from there board. Brook and Renee are the only two females in daytime I care about. It's a travesty what they have done to Brook and her character with the incest route. What her and Justin had to offer and Fox and Whitney was amazing in chemistry, connection, and taletnt. They wasted truly the last year of Justin/Foxney onscreen to do disgusting incest instead of the wonderful love story of Foxney. When I see the Renee and all she gets with her storyline and actors, Easton, St. John, and Fumero(not the best but not the worst, that is Divins), I SO WANT better for Brook because her star could truly rise on Passions. I think she's a strong talent and when giving the right partner and storyline, she flourishes.

I'm ok on this board. Pretty much posting on the regular.

CocoTapioka - June 7, 2006 06:03 PM (GMT)
It's okay, no one has to be shy here. I know how people feel, I've lurked before.

It's kind of cool, because I get an email everytime someone new registers (mainly because some people have problems with the email validation portion, and I want to know that they joined so I can check and validate them), and now it's a "hi -- nice to finally meet you" kind of moment. :)

Crazy that Jul 20th is your bday ebeneezer, it just happens to be the day i come back from vacation. make sure to put your birthday in your profile so when it comes, we can all give you a proper happy bday!

Meridian33 - June 7, 2006 09:32 PM (GMT)
Good idea, Tara. I am with you 250%.

kellyilla - June 8, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
I'm trying my best to come here everyday and post. So far I'm giving myself a D at it. lol.

DreamWeaver - June 8, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
Guilty as charged... Sorry about the lack of posts from me; I tend to lurk and read, and I haven't been spending much time online these days because of work.

I promise to do better!! But thank you so much for the reminder to get my butt in here and start posting about our girl!!

~~DreamWeaver

CocoTapioka - June 8, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
:) That's alright. And happy future posting!

Miss Marie - June 9, 2006 09:42 AM (GMT)
Tara, I think your announcement was a great idea because I am seeing posts for the first time from people who have signed up as far back as last year. You are doing a great job as administrator, so keep up the good work. :thumbsup

Posters, we truly are a friendly bunch here and I am definitely looking forward to posting with everyone.

Miss Marie

asweetone - June 9, 2006 11:04 PM (GMT)
LOVING the new design Tara!!! Do what you feel is best and I've kinda thought about doing the exact same with both Appassionata and Ajani. Those boards represent a broader range of daytime serial favorites. I commend your efforts. Administrators really have difficult decisions to make. Sometimes it's just not fair. :boing

Blessings,
Adrienne

Toffy - June 11, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
add me to the guilty list. i'll def post more often! :(

Jay - July 15, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
I could post more too Tara. I must Admit...i've been busy. You KNOW i had to do this at Llanview Avenue and im getting ready to do another sweep. I dont understand. As an Admin, you have to run your board. It was an insult to me when i saw so many not posting and i wanted to delete their asses right then. So i put a post up and gave people the option. We had a Test, it was before you joined. I called it a Drill. anyone who hadnt had 1 post, was to be wiped out. I also told users to tell me if they wanted to be deleted. I made cuts and now i have to again. its the Admin Life kid

lelu - July 17, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
:newbie I have tried over and over again to post but I always received a message saying I couldn't. Today is the first time I been allowed to so I will definatey post more often!

CocoTapioka - July 17, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
Hmm. I looked into it, and I think it was because you were an unauthorized member. Usually, you're supposed to approve yourself by confirming your address with a confirmation email. If people don't do that, it's up to me to do it manually, and since I was out of the country until last Tues, I just confirmed them recently. That's probably why.

CocoTapioka - July 28, 2006 05:50 PM (GMT)
I forgot the last time, and I don't have time now.

The FINAL day is August 10th.

If I have time, It'll be earlier - like the 6th.

morwebber4me - July 28, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
Sorry,
Just joined the board a couple of weeks ago. Real Life usually means just a quick glance for info. Will try harder to be more supportive.
