Special Event: Christmas Party

9th December 2007: Lunch at Kanahooka Bay
It’s that time of year again. This year we are going back to the old format for the Christmas Party. This year we will be doing lunch at Kanahooka Bay. People should be getting there by 12.00pm so we can confirm numbers and order something tasty for us all to enjoy.
Bring the family along and play a game of cricket and soccer on the day.

EVERYONE WHO ATTENDS GET A PRESENT ON THE DAY.

We are also selling tickets for a 6x2 latex rock background. This is brand new and would be an excellent addition to any display tank. Tickets are only $1 each and can only be purchased on the day.

Our next normal nightly meeting will be the 13th January 2008

On the Menu
In January, Craig Scott will be giving a talk on Aquatic plants that are suitable to be kept with cichlids. This should be an interesting talk.

In February next we will be holding our annual plant raffle. There is always a fabulous array of aquatic plants available. Tickets are $1 and will be for sale on the night.

Steve Thomson is also presenting his slide show on his trip to Africa. There are some fantastic shot in this presentation and will be great viewing for those of us not lucky enough to have been to the Rift Lakes.

The club is also going to do a major overhaul on the Schools tank. For the last few years the tank has been let go and we feel it needs an update. We are looking for any quality fish, rocks, plants or driftwood that could be donated to the tank. If you would like to contribute, could you please bring your items along to the January meeting.

Outing/Bus Trip
With Ad Konings coming to Sydney on March 8th 2008, the club is going to organise a bus trip and needs numbers soon to book the bus. Names will be taken over the next few months, so let us know if you wish to come along.

A few people have expressed an interest in attending a Canberra meeting. I believe that the general consensus was a visit in February. This will be Monday 11th February 2008. I think that we will travel up in the afternoon and come back that night. I am still trying to confirm what time everything happens down there and will have all the details ready for everyone before Christmas.

Breeders Program
The committee is in the process of locating fish for the breeders program. This is taking longer than expected so bear with us. If there are any fish you would like to see added to the breeders program please talk to Peter Collier.

Badge Draw
The November badge draw was won by Matthew Begaud. Matthew wasn’t there to claim his great prize and it now jackpots.

Table Show
There were no entries at the November meeting. A reminder that December will NOT be having a Table Show due to the Christmas Party.

Trade Table
John has done a great job at find us some bargains at fantastic prices. As always we have the usual array of food available on our trade table this month, such as small algae wafers, OSI spirulina flake and Orca pellets. John has also organized to get some Orca foods which are in different grades of powder. These are great for fry, and members have been giving good feedback about the results shown from this food.

At present we are also stocking ‘fish bags’ in four sizes – small, medium, large and X-large. Prices are discounted if you buy in bulk.

You are also reminded that in order to purchase items from the trade table you need to see John only during the break and present your current membership badge.
