Auction started 1 hour late again. Was a little slow to begin with and stayed that way for the first few hours. The last two runs were the best of the day for price with some of the fish fetching really good money e.g. Albino bristlenose getting $48. Which it pretty good money for them these days.
576 lots were handed out and we had 486 lots returned, 4 more then last year. Of these lots we had 112 individual species of fish available on the day.
We sold $8894.00 worth of fish in 6 hours, again nice and quick auction and we all had left the hall by 9.30pm. The total Dollars worth of fish sold was well down on last year, but we didn’t have the Americans and catfish like we did last year.
The average price per lot was $18.88 which makes for a nice little pay day if you used up your 16 lots.
The most common fish on the day and their average sale price per lot were.
E Yellows 42 lots/$18.26
E blue 20 lots/$15.45
Elongatus Mpanga 18 lots/$12.44
6 bar Frontosa 16 lots/$24.50
Common Bristlenose 14 lots/$20.29
Maingano 12 lots/12.83
Albino Bristlenose 10 lots/$31.60
Afra Cobwe 8 lots/$22.30
These fish made up 30% of the total lots auctioned on the day
There were a total of 85 visitors and 47 members there on the day.
We had three sponsors on the day Masterpet, who was represented by Steve who set up in the entry. These guys are the new reps for some tetra products in Australia.
Ben From Age of Aquariums also sponsored the raffle and sent down a get prize as he always does.
Australian Aquarium magazine also donated some prizes to the raffle and had magazines for sale on the day.
All up the club has raised between $1100 and $1200 on the day. All in all, a good effort, and this should allow us to keep spending up into the future…..
