Title: Birds And Iguanas

Hi All,
we have been toying with the idea of getting a bird, iether a Blue and gold macaw or a cockatoo, and are kind of undecided at this point. Actually we had been planning on a bird long before iguanas ver entered our life, we were wondering if anyone on the boards has or had birds and iguanas.
Even though we had been thinking of a large bird long before the iguana came along, Zilla got here first and she is our first priority. I just don't want to irritate her by getting bird. She free roams most of the time but has a cage too.
a large bird would also eventually be a free roamer, especially if we end up with a macaw.

any advice is welcome, and if it turns out that getting a bird will affect Zilla in any way or pu the bird in harms way the idea of a bird will be nixed imediatly, the iggy is our first priority.

But we are looking to add to our family, if a bird is out of the question we have looked at panther chameloons, knob tail gecko ( has any one seen how cute they are!!) or bearded dragons, so any advice on any of the above mentioned would be great to. :)

I don't see why you can't get a bird. Anna and Angelo free-roam partially and they have never messed with my umbrella cockatoo. But of course the cockatoo is in another room and is in a cage. You should never let your bird free roam. All birds will get into serious trouble or hurt themselves badly if left out alone. Sonny chews curtains and blinds when we leave the room for a second. Large birds are like having a two-year-old in the house for the next 60 or so years.

So as long as the bird has a cage it shouldn't be a problem. Let us know if you get one!
