I have reciently gotten a new iguana. She ( i believe) is very young. She is about 12 inches long but i dont know her age. None the less she and I dont get along very well. every time i stick my hand in her home she whips her tail at me and snaps at me. She leans up agenst the side of her cage too. All of this is done in one motion. I can never seem to get a hold of her but my husband does. Once he picks her up and gives me to her we are ok i guess. I hold her and pet her. She closes her eyes and kinda calms down a little. Occationly during the sitting she will start to whip her tail be not open her eyes, is this like a dog wagging its tail? I just wonder if I will ever be able to pick her up and if this is normal. What should I do? :unsure:

Eventually your new Ig will get used to you... right now they just see ou as a really big predator that they dont know if they trust. just tae it slow and it'll work :) You should also check out greeniguanasociety.org there is a TON of information there bout not only taming your ig, but also care and feeding as well... I prited off all of their info into a binder and it has become my iguana bible :)

thats amazing our ig was the very same with my girlfriend but ok with me but after a while he got used to her as soon as she gained his confidence
