Hi there. I'm new here.
I have an iguana that I have had for 7 years. He has always been healthy but was recently diagnosed with severe liver disease.
I'm looking at replacing his current habitat with something very sanitary & clean.
Any suggestions for materials/setup? The current habitat is gi-normous....5 feet tall, 4 feet wide, 8 feet long.
Thanks,
PP
I am very sorry to hear about your iguana's diagnosis. What were his syptoms that prompted the vet visit? Were you told to change his habitat due to the diagnosis?
I am just asking questions as a means to understand & learn... I have two iguana's myself, both 2 years of age as of January. One, Pac-Man (male), has had a elbow/joint infection & a calcium deficiency. The other, Angel (female), knock on wood, has had no problems.
They are both housed seperately, in the same housing unit (two floors each) 5 ft high x 6 ft long x 4 ft width shelving unit. Three sides of clear plexiglass & back side of wood. We use newspapers to line the floors, to which needs to be removed & replaced two times weekly. I am unable to put any type of misting unit in the cage, so in turn keep bowls of water under their warming lamps & mist 'the guys' as much as I can remember/& remind my 13 yr old son (who is their primary owner/I help when I'm able & remind/push him to care for them, lol. I'm a full time working mom with two children, a husband, two iguana's and a a cat  ).
Anyhow, I know that questions & replies tend to move very slowly in here and I generally check this forum to gain information, knowledge and understanding of my 'guys' because I care alot for them.
I wish you and your ig the best. I hope that you gain the information that you yourself are seeking, to help your 'guy'.
Sincerely,
Sherri
