Title: Sudden Death

Hello all. I signed up to tell you what happened and maybe get your insight into the death of my brother's iguana.
My brother has 2 green iguanas. Or rather, had 2. One has died within the last hour. We estimate it was around 8 yrs old. He's had another one for about 2 years or so. He has always taken exceptional care of them and treated them like his children. He fed them every day (goes without saying I guess, but some people... you know), took them outside on a leash in the summer, etc. The lizards never wanted for anything, you could say.
Here's what happened.

A few days ago, we noticed the older one (kept in seperate large cage) was turning yellow. Normally she had a light green color with darker green areas around the legs. Over the course of a few days she began turning yellow and not eating. Her cage has 2 shelves with ladders going diagonally up to one shelf and another to the top shelf where she sleeps under the lamp. Normally she climbs down all the way to the floor to eliminate. Yesterday she climbed down only to the 2nd floor. Earlier tonight she barely made it down there. Very sluggish and labored.
He made an appointment for the vet tomorrow at 2pm. I wish she would have made it, as we don't know what could have been wrong with her. Her routine has been the same as it has been for the past 4 or so years. Same food (greens, fruits, carrots, squash, etc) she has always eaten. Any ideas?

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm a new Ig owner, so i don't really know what could have een the problem. Has he thought about going ahead and taking her to the vet to have an autopsy (I know it's a different name for the lizards, but I can't remember it)? That should help considerably on finding out what happened to her.
