Title: Iguana Scare
Description: Playing dead?

Tord410 - November 29, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
I came home tonight to find my ig, Lance (14 months), in the same
position under his rock as when I left this morning. He never got
up for the day. As I thought back on his behavior over the past few
days, he has been fine, he didn't eat all of his dinner, and he has
been drinking more water than usual. But he was still the same spaz
of a lizard that he is everyday, he hasn't been acting any
different, except today. I decided to move the "rock" that he was
sleeping under to see if he was ok (normally if I would move
something off of him he would ping-pong all over the cage.) He just
laid there, and looked at me, he wouldn't even lift his little
head. At first I couldn't tell if he was even alive, I was so
scared to lift the rock. Normally I can't catch him and hold him,
yet I reached right in his cage and grabbed him right up, no
struggle. He was somewhat stiff, I was so terrified. I put him in
a box with a blanket and called the vet. I took him to the vet
expecting the worst. I got to the vet, I heard him scraching at the
box, which was a good sign. The vet opened the box, and Lance just
jumps out. What a spaz! He was fine, the vet drew blood and they
are running all the tests to check for certian things, but visially
he is healthy. And we are back to our love/hate relationship.
Tonight made me realize how much I really do love that little guy.

The vet mentioned that it is common for igs to play dead?
Has anyone had thier ig pull this stunt?
