There are mutants everywhere. Go ahead, take a look around yourself. Chances are at least one of the people you are seeing now is one. You see, Mutants always had a peaceful existence with humans. This mainly due to the fact that humans weren't aware of their existence. Their powers was a secret well kept in their society. Every secret though, no matter how well kept, has a way of bringing itself into the light.
As you can imagine, humans didn't like the idea of people with power living amongst them. As a whole, people fear what is different, they fear what they can't understand. They shun it, ridicule it, destroy it, then lock it away in a dark closet, never speaking of it again. Public attacks were made on Mutants by government officials. Governers wanted them out of their state, Presidents wanted them out of their country, there was nowhere for them to go. Schools were started for these children. Places where they could live and where others like them could teach them to control their powers and live a normal life. One which stood out among others, Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters. Xavier was a wealthy man, a mutant himself, that turned his house into one such school and opened his doors too all that needed refuge. There were others however, that didn't take this route.
Erik Lehnsherr, known to the mutant world as Magneto, formed a band of mutants called The Brotherhood of Mutants. His idea was to fight back. Mutants were the next step of evolution, the next generation of humans, whys should they let others force them into submission? When the human race wanted trackers put into mutants, and to make every mutant register their powers his team fought back. They matched society blow for blow until their actions turned from defence into crusade. They were the Martyrs, the ones who make everything better, no matter the cost, no matter the casualties. Not all mutants thought this way though, Xavier was one of them, so he formed his own team to fight back.
The X-Men were an elite team of staff members from Xaviers school, and associates of his. Their goal was to protect the public and stop Magento and his men. This war has been waging for months and now it's begun to spill into the schools. Students are choosing sides and with staff members low it's becoming increasingly hard to stop the fighting between students. Families are going missing, bodies are turning up everywhere, the war is now beyond control. So now it's your time, what will you be? A Sinner, or a Saint?
