Have you ever had an encounter with ghosts, or think you did?

Zoe Saldana - July 15, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
Hells yes! Ya'll gonna think I'm nuts but whateva....

Story time....I was at my grandmother's house the first night that my aunt (mother's sister) Ceily came with her daughter (the cousin I think is nuts) Tricia on one of their many trips to NY [they live in Toronto, Canada]; anyway I was sleeping on the long sofa and my cousin was on the short one. [to decide who got the long sofa we played rocks, scissors, papers; she's a sore ass loser we had to play like three times!] The sofa I was on was diagonal to the entrance...so I saw this shadow looking thing with a long ass trench coat and it didn't touch the floor! At first I thought I was dreaming so I pitched myself [learned that from Save by the Bell and it totally works!] and I quickly realized I wasn't dreaming. I started saying "Hail Mary" mad quick with my lids shut tightly and when I opened my eyes the image was gone.

The very next morning I over heard my aunt and grandmother talking and I heard her talking about a "ghost" so I walked in and described to her what I saw and sure enough she saw what I saw in the bedroom! I find my aunt on the whacky side because she swears our family has "spirtual gifts" whatever! Anyway she told me that it was a good ghost....I was thinking how can a damn ghost be good!?! Tricia (the cousin) sees stuff too and is convinced its evil, then again she thinks everything is evil. But I am convinced that my mother and aunt have some weird connection with each other that's beyond 'sisterhood' and their dreams always mean something......and always come true!

Now I'm starting to have weird ass dreams that always represents something so maybe my aunt was right....who knows anymore. :hair:

Good to know it runs in the extended family too....my second cousin Pat swears he saw a damn UFO and his wife (MY FAV IN-LAW out side my brother-in-law of course) swears my family are certified nuts! Maybe she's on to something too..... :clear10

What's the most embarrassing thing that happened to you?

Alicia Keys - July 16, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
Well, I don't know if I should share this, since I know SOME will constantly bring it up. But oh well, this is fam.

So, when I was about 8, I was at Homecoming for Virginia State. My dad is an Asst. Band Director there, so I go every year, and went everywhere with them for a long time. But anyway, it's like 6 minutes til halftime. So that's when we've left the stands and gone down to the grass in front of the seats to pray and get ready. So after prayer, a section (I think it was percussion, and I was in WUV with one of the snare drummers) needed water.

Now, this was setup differently than it is now. There was a blacktop part for the Woo-Woo's (the cheerleaders) right in the middle of where the crowd was and it was roped off for homecoming, so no one would walk on it. But the rope things (like the ones you have in concert lines and suck. Velvet and everything) kinda went out past the blacktop, over to where we were. So as soon as someone asked if someone could get the water, I jumped up like a crazy person and was like "I WILL" (mind you, I'm 8. Excited isn't the word). So I turn around and start running for the water. And yep, you guessed it. I wasn't looking where I was going. Straight tripped over the rope that was hanging lowest to me. Fell flat on my face. And if you've ever been to a black homecoming, it's not just sold out. The seats are full, and then just as many people are standing and walking around socializing. They ALL saw me fall down on my face. It was a small collective laugh, but I caught more hell later, back at the band room. Old heads STILL bring it up when I go back. It's funny in hindsight, but that was so embarrasing.

Okay, now that I've relived the horror, it's my turn to ask a question. What is your favorite Brook Kerr quality?

whitbrookfan4life - July 16, 2005 10:11 AM (GMT)
ok, OUCH sylv, im really not even laughing. were you hurt? it sounds like you would be. damn. that sucks. but you were 8. just way overly enthusiastic about life. it's all good.

wow, fave bk quality? i could just go with everything again (lol), but no. um, i'd have to say her humility and grace. those kind of go together. she doesn't do that many interviews and appearances, but when she does, her true persona shines through so clearly. shes's just a pure person. i start admiring her all over again every time i read a quote from her or hear her say something as just herself and not Whit.

ok, hmmmmmm, what's your craziest airport/airline horror story?

Zoe Saldana - July 16, 2005 03:00 PM (GMT)
Ouch Syl...I hope you didn't get hurt that bad.

Um.....this really isn't a horror story....well I've only been on a plane twice; I'm deathly afraid of heights yet love the window set <---GO FIGURE on that ish. Anyway....the most recent plane ride was last year to South Beach where my sister got married; besides I can't remember the other one when I was 17 LOL. Anywhoo.....we almost missed our flight and my grandmother packed my stuff, not because I didn't know how to do it but because her folding rocks...gots the granny touch. Back to the story so my mother packed like we were moving there and I hate carrying stuff BUT carrying mad things and dealing with two screaming women are very pissy [my mom and grandmother] SO the bitchy flight attendant was "graceous" enough to take stuff from my mother's hand my hands were full so the dumb bitch just threw our GOWNS on the floor. So I turned to her and said "you're not gonna pic that up" she had the GAW to say its not mine. BOY Jesus and my mother stopped me from punching that bitch. The next thing I knew I was being moved by my sister's best friend....so yeah that's my story.

What is something you always wanted to do and why?

whitbrookfan4life - July 28, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
i really really want to skydive, just to say i've done it once. gotta have that weightless feeling. i doubt if it'll become addictive; i'm just an extreme kind of chick and it needs to be checked off my list.

what's the longest amount of time you've ever stayed awake consecutively, and why the hell were you up so long??

Alicia Keys - July 28, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
Um, Sophomore year. Had a KILLER cum. final for microeconomics. Had just about failed or almost failed my other two exams (did well on everything else though). NEEDED an A on the final. Stayed up for about 30 hours or so. But I got the A. Only got about 3 hours or so of sleep, then went out the next day to celebrate my grade. LOL, I was beyond tired after that mess.

Okay, this is a somewhat long one. If you could do a movie about ONE person, who would it be about, and who would be your DREAM cast for the movie?

Zoe Saldana - August 16, 2005 06:59 AM (GMT)
Damn Sylvia you suck!

Ugh I wanted to say Ceicly Tyson because she's CEICLY TYSON. Although I'm in aww of her I don't have THAT much info on her.

So I'll go to the other woman that's older I'm in aww in. Oprah. Plain and simple she's the PIVITOL example that Black Women are the ish! Correction, she shows EVERYONE that anything is possible NOT just her people. Her life was like one of those mini puzzles that takes like FOREVER to put together and once its finally together it just looks like it was never a part. I've never meet Oprah but she seems so REAL and she truly looks beautiful in the inside NOT to mention SHE LOOKS DUAMN good for her age. Who wouldn't want to be around or learn about someone who's easy to like?

Ok onto my cast ensemble. Kimberly Elise would play Oprah, um do I HAVE to justify why its Kimberly Elise? Kerry Washington would be Gayle King, KERRY WASHTINGTON (I know Nuri but I answered the question LOL). Morris Chestnut would be Gayle's ex-husband, UM yeah he's beyond fine. Terrance Howard would be Stedmund HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Morgan Freeman is Oprah's father. Damn I want Cheadle up in here too.....ok he's Gayle's current hubby. Of COURSE BK is Oprah's and Stedman's love child!!!

Lastly Ryan Gosling would play John Travolta Oprah's favorite white boy.

So yeah that would be my dream ensemble.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be and why?

Aisha Tyler - September 4, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
Oh, wow. Dang, we are getting deep on this board.

Well, I have come to embrace myself as I am but there are two things I would really like to change and they are soo minor, I barely even notice them. The top one would be this crinkle thing my skin does on the left side of my nose. As I was developing in my mother's womb, the bone under my skin by the left side of my nose didn't form the same as the bone under the skin on the right side of my nose. And when I was born, I had this absess under my skin and they thought they would have to do surgery but it just went away as I got older. Now, the skin by my nose crinkles up whenever I smile or make an expression. And you can feel both sides of my nose and feel the difference in the bone structure. People tell me it's cute but I just shrug it off. I used to be really self-conscious about it but I have come to accept it.

The other thing I would like to change are my teeth. I got them straighted with braces but since good old South Carolina has lead in their water, or wait, was it flourine, ANYWAYS, my teeth are not as white as I want them. But some bleaching and caps can fix that.

Name a time when your patience ran out and what you did to solve the problem?

Zoe Saldana - September 7, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
LOL, you mean besides everyday?

Actually it was today at work, I work in the Registrar's office at school and my patience was like DONE, done I tell you when this student called today and he basically was the walking retardation incarnated. He asked me "When does classes start?" so I told him last tuesday and he said "NO it doesn't it starts next Monday" so I said if you know the answer why did you feel you had to call? Then he said "The book was wrong" then I said no it wasn't because I have the book and I saw with my very own eyes classes started last monday he said "are you sure?" now at that moment I was FEX but then I realized after a few (fast moments) that he's funnier than stupid so I brushed it off.

What's the most exciting you did this past year?

whitbrookfan4life - September 9, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
ha, that would def be traveling to australia and back. one of the best things ive experienced, and prob ever will.

i left in early july 04 and returned mid-december 04. i still can't believe i lived on the other side of the world for that long. sometimes when im talking to ppl about it, it feels like it wasnt me. craziness.

i wouldve been home a few days before i was, if it wasnt for the fact that i got stranded in kuala lumpur, malaysia for 2 days. but thats a story in and of itself.

hmm, what's the best book you've ever read?

Aisha Tyler - October 3, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
Ok, I read A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!! So this is a very hard question.

BUT:

I would have to say that Whispers by Lisa Jackson is one of my favorite books ever. Like I want it to be made into a movie.

It's about these two families: The Taggerts and the Hollands. They are both prodominant families in this resort town and are ultimately trying to destory the other. The Hollands have 3 daughters and the Taggerts have two sons and a daughter. Basically, one of the Taggert boys is madly in love with one of the Holland girls so that does not sit well with either family. Plus, there are like tons of secrets between both families that you find out throughout the story because someone dies (DUN DUN DUN).

IT IS SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!!

It is kind of an East of Eden, Romeo and Juliet, with a little Law and Order mixed in. It is soooo good. I recommend it to all avid readers.

Name one movie that has literally changed your life?

whitbrookfan4life - June 10, 2006 12:15 AM (GMT)
Antwone Fisher.

i randomly went to see it at the theater one night with some friends, and thought it was just going to be mediocre-good, bc of denzel.

um, negative. one of the first times ive ever gotten choked up during a movie. there were tears in my eyes by the time he had the confrontation with my mom.

it changed my life bc it was like a huge slap across the face. made me realize that i still had real emotions connected to my birth father, no matter how little i know ab him. ive always wanted to look for him when i get the money, but this movie just drove it home more. seeing all the trauma antwone had as a child it made me feel blessed that my life didnt go that route, that i have a wonderful mom who made do without him and moved on with life. count my blessings type of thing. it was also just an amazing story with amazing direction and production value. movies that arent scared to tell the truth always score an A with me. plus im a fan of adorable couples in movies and zoe and derrick kicked ass in this!
