I love this Whitney trying to talk since to Therea about Alistair!
Theresa: Hey. What are you doing here?
Whitney: Oh, I was waiting for you.
Theresa: Thought you were with Miles.
Whitney: Well, I was. But Miles has been crying all day, and I couldn't take it anymore. I had to get out of there.
Theresa: The message that you left -- it said that he was doing better, that your nursing him helped.
Whitney: It did, it did. He was able to keep milk down, but he has colic, you know? He just won't stop crying.
Theresa: Poor baby.
Whitney: My mother said that the colic could last for months, and it's just hard for me to see him that way.
Theresa: Well, you're usually stronger than that, Whitney. I know that you tried to avoid getting close to him, so you gave him up for adoption. But is that all it is?
Whitney: Well, Theresa, he's not my son anymore, I mean, period. That's all there is to it. The only reason I breastfed him is because Chad was at a loss when he couldn't keep any formula down, that's all.
Theresa: Whitney, how could you not be close to your son? You breastfed him.
Whitney: Please don't make this any harder than it already is.
Theresa: Why can't you just admit that you love him?
Whitney: Ok, fine. Yeah, I do. I love him. I love Miles. That's why I put him up for adoption in the first place.
Theresa: I know you're going through a tough time, Whitney, and I know that you feel guilty about giving him up.
Whitney: But you know what, it's not just that. I mean, what if there's something wrong with Miles and it's not just colic? You know, what if it's something else, something more? You know, I told you about all the horrible things that could be wrong with my son.
Theresa: No, no, no.
Whitney: No, but it is possible, right? And you're right, I do feel guilty, but not about putting him up for adoption. I feel guilty because something could be wrong with him, and it's because of what Chad and I did.
Theresa: No. I'm sure your mother would've told you if it was something more serious than colic.
Whitney: I hope you're right. I am glad that my mother does know the truth, and if there is really something wrong with Miles, she can treat him so we won't have to tell a pediatrician that Chad is really the father of my son. You know, I cannot risk anyone ever finding out the truth. I mean, can you imagine what my son's life would be like? I mean, he'd be tortured and ridiculed. I put him up for adoption to protect him.
Theresa: I know. I know you did.
Whitney: I would do anything to protect my son. You of all people must understand that.
Theresa: Yeah, I know exactly how you feel.
Whitney: Well, answer me, what is going on with you and Alistair Crane? I mean, you can't seriously be going on a date with him?
Theresa: It's dinner.
Whitney: Have you completely lost your mind?
Theresa: Whitney, it's not a big deal. I'm just having dinner with him.
Whitney: No, no, no, nothing is just anything when it comes to Alistair Crane. I mean, once you get involved with him on any level, you're setting yourself up for disaster. Now, will you look at he's done to your family, to my family, to Ethan, to Sheridan, his own daughter? Every life he touches he ruins. He is a monster and you know it. Now, what on earth possessed you to do something like this? What were you thinking?
Theresa: I don't know. Ok, I was upset, desperate. I just -- I can't lose Ethan, Whitney. I can't.
Whitney: Well, I hate to tell you this, but you've already lost Ethan. I mean, when are you going to get it through your head? He isn't going to be with you, period.
Theresa: You know what? Alistair said he's going to help me get Ethan and Jane back.
Whitney: Alistair told you he's going to help you get Ethan and Jane back? That's why you're having dinner with him?
Theresa: Yeah. Look, you said yourself, Whitney, you would do anything to protect your son, and that's what I'm doing. I'm doing what I have to do to protect my child.
Whitney: Ok, but you're protecting Jane from what, exactly? From Ethan and Gwen?
Theresa: I need my family, Whitney, and that is Ethan and me and Jane and little Ethan. And Jane -- she needs her mommy.
Whitney: Theresa, honey --
Theresa: Look, I'm just doing what I have to do, ok?
Whitney: All right, look, listen to me -- even if it is possible, even if Alistair could help you get Ethan and Jane back, what exactly do you think it's going to cost you?
Theresa: Cost me?
Whitney: Come on, don't -- don't do that. Don't play like you don't know. Alistair never does anything for nothing. He's going to want something from you -- something big. And you can guarantee whatever Alistair Crane wants, it's going to be something that you don't want to give.
Whitney: You know, you have done some crazy things in your life, but I have to say this takes the cake. I mean, planning a dinner date with Alistair Crane? What's next, cocktails with Satan?
Theresa: I wasn't thinking.
Whitney: Oh, I get it. You mean for a change?
Theresa: First, I refused his offer, Whitney. That was after he came on to me and he was kissing me.
Whitney: Oh, god, dirty, old man.
Theresa: Yeah, it was disgusting. I told him to forget about it.
Whitney: Ok, great. So what happened? Why did you change your mind?
Theresa: I ran into Ethan, Whitney. I ran into Ethan and we got into a fight and he said that we're never going to be together, we've got no future together, and that he's going to stay with Gwen.
Whitney: Theresa, Ethan has been saying that same exact thing for years. He's never given you any reason to believe that he would leave Gwen.
Theresa: No reason except that he loves me. Like I said, Whitney, I was desperate. I was upset. I would do anything to hold on to Ethan, I would do anything to get my daughter back, so I called Alistair and I told him that I had reconsidered.
Whitney: Ok, but I don't understand. What do you think that Alistair is going to do to change Ethan's mind? I mean, what is he going to do, brainwash him, blackmail him? How is he going to make Ethan leave Gwen for you?
Theresa: I don't know. Ok, it was a mistake. You're right. He's going to want something from me, and I don't really want to think about what that might be.
Whitney: Well -- um -- you know what he wants. And you know that Ethan's going to find out about it, too.
Theresa: No, no, he's not going to find out about this.
Whitney: Look, I ran into Ethan earlier. He's already worried that you're going to do something crazy, and so was I, but I never in a million years thought it would be something like this, something this crazy. Come on, honey, this is insane.
Theresa: What have I done? What have I done?
Theresa: What have I done? I mean, first my mother warns me, and then Ethan warns me, but do I listen? No, because I have to do things my way. And now I've thrown myself my in with Alistair and I'm not going to be free of him ever again. He is the most vile, despicable person I've ever known. No, he's not even human.
Whitney: Wait, just listen to me. It is not too late to disentangle yourself from Alistair. You just call him, tell him you made a mistake and you can't go out to dinner with him.
Theresa: Right.
Whitney: Right.
Theresa: That's exactly what I'm going to do.
Whitney: Ok.
[Doorbell rings]
Theresa: Who could that be at this hour?
Delivery man: Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald?
Theresa: Yes.
Delivery man: Sign here.
Theresa: Thank you.
Theresa: Who on earth --
Whitney: Uh-oh.
Theresa: "Looking forward to this evening. I promise you a night to remember. Alistair."
Whitney: You can't keep these flowers from Alistair Crane. You've got to toss them in the trash and tell him that you're going to cancel the dinner date.
Theresa: You're right.
Whitney: But that doesn't mean you're really going to do it, now, does it? You know what, I'll do it myself. Now, here, make the call right now.
Theresa: Ok, I will.
Whitney: Ok.
Theresa: Just -- I need a few minutes to figure out how I'm going to say this, you know?
Whitney: Ok, but I got to get going, but just promise me you're going to do it, ok? Promise me you'll keep your word and call and cancel the date.
Theresa: I promise. I don't know what I would do without you.
Whitney: Frankly, neither do I. See you later?
Theresa: All right.
Alistair: Ah, Theresa, you're in for quite an evening. We both are.
Whitney, I don't know what she would do without you either. Even in pod mode, you still have more sense. Just sad.
