Welcome to the Epos Lebens Circle! I've created this forum in the hope that it will grow to be a place of discussion, learning, and mental stimulation. I've titled this forum the Epos Lebens Circle for two reasons which I will now explain.
1. As a few of you probably aready know, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there arose in the area of Europe many "circles," or discussion groups. These groups would meet on a regular basis and debate issues that included, but were not limited to, exhaustive of, or prelusive of: philosophy, economics, religion, art, music, literature, and science. The most notable of these circles was the Vienna Circle (1922-1936), which was composed of notable men such as Rudolph Carnap, Hans Hahn, Peter Drucker, and Kurt Godel. I have marked this forum as a circle to honor this group and hopefully continue what they created; an atmosphere in which one may discuss and debate topics from all areas of philosophy with other individuals.
2. In german, Epos Lebens means "the epic of life." We here who are gathered at this forum have at least two things in common; we are all experiencing the epic of life, and we wish to invest ourselves in the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. This commonality should lend to uniting us as a community and circle.
I thank everyone here for being a part of this. I hope you all will come to start and join many interesting discussions of philosophy. All philosophical views are accepted, of course, although they will most probably be attacked (in the nicest manner possible, I assure you). The forum is especially protected against flaming, that is, uness you can come up with a good enough reason for it to not be censored. Otherwise, feel free to say whatever you want.
