It appears in the AFC West the Broncos will have no competition this year. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing? The Raiders are (2-1) but lets face it, they are not that great of a team, and cannot win too much on the road. Maybe putting Collins in over Gannon will help, and maybe not. The Chargers have been horrendous for a number of years, and now the Chiefs have a huge obstacle to overcome. It appears Denver will not have much competition, but this could hurt in the end, because they will not be as prepared for playoff caliber teams.
Marty Schottenheimer concurs with you. He had a similar statement during an interview with the Rocky Mtn News last week. However, very few people not named Pat Bowlen believe the Donkies are a playoff-ready team. Lefty Plummer isn't a great pocket-passer, although he showed improvement against the Chargers. If Quentin Griffin continues to get stuffed, teams will simply load-up on the line and force Plummer to beat them through the air. That might work when you're playing the Chargers, but not the Patriots.
Raiders? Since 1995, the've only won 4 games against the Donkies. 2 of those came in 2002. 3 of the 4 came with Some Jackass Named "Slimey" (or something similar) under center for the Donkies.
Right now it looks like an easy division title... but I'm curious to see where they'll be in Week Ten (gotta' love how the NFL designates each week. Why doesn't MLB have Game 158?). In recent years, the Broncos have shown a disturbing trend of playing down to their opponents. (Corey Dillon. The debacle in Miami. The Chicago game last year) If they're 5-5 once again...well, what's their favorite phrase about "talent"?
