Title: Warrior & Virgil - 35 bucks each

This made me giggle and choke on my breakfast this morning.

Denver Sports Fair- with Ultimate Warrior and Virgil

It's a sports "memorabilia" and autograph fair. Always make me feel a little weird how old athletes and celebrities travel around to exhibitions like they're Jo-Jo the Dog Boy. 35 bucks gets you an autograph from either Virgil or Warrior. A Polaroid (a POLARIOID?!!) of yourself and Warrior is 20 bucks. I rarely pay for an autograph, nowadays, but consider: you could pay 35 for a Virgil autograph...or spend 5 bucks more and get the Doomsday Defense. If I did plan on going, I'd get the Negro League guys' autographs, that's it. (although.... I might consider Tatum Bell for $15)

But it's not that bad. Check out the $29 price tag for a baseball signed by CLINT BARMES! I guess this is why autographs have been few and far between at ballparks this year. The players know that there's a lucrative business on autographed junk. And if 29 bucks gets you Barmes, I wonder how much my A's ball with Huston Street, Ken Macha, Eric Byrnes and Nick Swisher is "worth"?

BTW, look at Warrior's little bio. When was he a WWF tag champion?

Warrior must think him and Savage the Ultimate Maniacs became champs by beating Money INC by virtue of a countout. Funny.

 That was so funny I forgot to laugh.

Oh wait, yes I did. Virgil is worth $35!?! (passes out laughing)

I happened to think: I only have one Rassler Autograph: Ric Flair, who was free. It was back when he was off of TV, after getting his head shaved in August 2000. He signed an issue of "The Wrestler", with a Royal Rumble 1992 cover, for me. It was some promo thing at John Elway Nissan. While in line, I met some guy who had worked security for Capital Combat 1990 and supposedly had gotten tanked with the Steiners.

Oh yeah, also got Nitro Girl Chae at the same event. Oh yeah, they also gave me two free tickets to Nitro (I think Booker T vs. Lance Storm was the main event. Only match I remember was Muta/Vampiro vs. Jung Dragons). If I had NOT shown up, I would have gotten FOUR free tickets to Nitro.

I've seen some message baord posters report that Virgil was charging 20 bucks, last year. His price has gone up!

Ah... Capital Combat. That PPV brings back memories. (stabs myself in the arm) Dammit! Why did they have to do something as stupid as bringing in ROBOCOP to make a run in?! That's worse than David Arquette and Judy Bagwell combined!
