Title: Clarett now a Donkey

Broncos take a chance on Clarett in the third round (NFL.com)
There were rumors around Donkey-land as far back as the 2003 season that Mike Shanahan was big on Ohio State's exiled Maurice Clarett. Guess there was some substance to those rumors, as Clarett is now the newest Donkey RB. This would appear to mean that the coaching staff isn't sold on Tatum Bell as a longterm option. It also clogs things up for Mike Anderson ever switching back to RB.

You can bet that as soon as Clarett makes ONE slip-up, those "Fire Shanahan" heckles will become more vocal.

iI you look at from a distance, they've subtracted Rueben Droughns and added Maurice Clarett.

Over the past 10 years or so, I can't recall the Donkies drafting any familiar college players. What I mean by that is, they'd draft someone and I'd say "who"? The first exposure I had to the guy was the little post-draft capsules. With the exception of local boy Bradlee Van Pelt, I had never seen or heard of any Broncos' draftees in college.George Foster, Ashley Lelie, Jeb Putzier, Deltha O' Neal, Dorsett Davis, Trevor Pryce, etc. I'm not a huge college follower, but even their highest pick of the last 20 years (Mike Croel, #4 in 1991) had me seeking answers. Well... I DID know about Tommy Maddox and Brian Griese before they were drafted...but we don't speak of them.
