Title: The Tag Team Game

estragand - January 27, 2005 11:02 PM (GMT)
Here's how it works: I say the name of Wrestler A, you tell us the name of Wrestler B who regularly tagged with him. The next person will tell us the name of Wrestler C, who tagged with Wrestler B. Get it?

Note that A is NOT equal to C. Tell us someone different he regularly tagged with.

Example:
First post would be : Bret Hart
Second post would be: Jim Neidhart
Third post would be: Owen Hart
Fourth would be: Davey Boy Smith

etc, etc.... the idea to keep the game rolling and see how many different guys we can include. So try not paint anyone into a corner with your answer. (in other words, you might wanna' steer clear of Hawk and Animal, since I can only think of two other wrestlers who tagged with them regularly).

Couple guidelines to make it manageable:
1.) The two wrestlers MUST have tagged regularly. House show couplings don't count. For instance: Hulk Hogan and Ken Patera tagged up on house shows, but they weren't a regular team. However, Ken Patera and Billy Jack Haynes or Ken Patera and Jerry Blackwell were regular teams.

2.) To be a "regular" team, the two guys must have had either a fancy team name (Kronik, Vicious & Delicious, Road Warriors, etc) or been tag team champs (so teams like Bret Hart & Goldberg or Rock & Undertaker unfortunately qualify).

3.) Let's limit it from 1980 to present. (EDIT: removed "big league" designation. too limiting).

4.) Keep in mind that stable mates doesn't necessarily mean tag team partners. Mongo and Ric Flair were stable mates, but didn't tag together often.

5.) Wrestlers playing different characters count. Bryan Clarke is Adam Bomb is Wrath.

So, with that established, we'll start with the first entrant:

Marty Janetty

Randy Poffo/ Randy Savage

Okay, that bent rule #3 a bit.....they were a team, but not in the main five. Feel free to bend rule #3 within reason.

Dig the "online store"!

Tommy Rich. The duo teamed up in the Fall of 90-Winter 91 when Robert Gibson had surgery on his knee. They also were 6-Man Tag Team Champions, and also teamed up during the York Foundation nightmares as Thomas Rich and Richard Morton.

estragand - February 2, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
..and they also teamed up in ECW in late 1997.

Moving on to...

Eddie Gilbert. Teamed with Rich in 1984 as "the New Fabulous Ones". Won a couple tag titles and were tag team of the year by a few fanzine organizations.

OrangeGoblinFan - February 2, 2005 06:59 PM (GMT)
Curt Hennig.

This is actually going by memory, but during the Rumble 96 match when Doug Gilbert enters, Hennig talks about teaming up with Eddie for a while earlier in his career.

estragand - February 2, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah, they were a "jobber to the stars" babyface team in the early 80's WWF/Backlund era. Think the team broke up when Masked Superstar broke Eddie's neck.

Of course, we've already used Curt Hennig... but I never specifcally stated that you couldn't repeat. So, umm, try not to, mm'kay?

Next pick:
Barry Windham
(Hennig's WCW tag title partner in 1999 and buddy in "West Texas Rednecks". Plus, I was HOPING somebody would pick him waaaay back in post #6)

OrangeGoblinFan - February 2, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
I was going to use Bobby Duncum Jr. back then, but have no idea who else he teamed with regularly.

My Answer: Mike Rotundo. BORN IN THE USA!

estragand - February 3, 2005 04:55 PM (GMT)
Dan Spivey

OrangeGoblinFan - February 3, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
Sid Vicious (Skyscrapers, bitches)

wrestlevessel - February 3, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
1995- Dibiase's corporation had a great team of Sid & the Kid.

So the 123 Kid aka X-Pac aka Syxx.

OrangeGoblinFan - February 3, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
I could've gone full circle back to the original post, but I'll go with...

Bob "Butt Plugg" Holly (Tag Champs for 24 Hours)

estragand - February 3, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
The NEW Midnight Express with "Bombastic" Bart Gunn (or was he "Bodacious"?)

OrangeGoblinFan - February 3, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
I think it was Bombastic Bob and Bodacious Bart.

Obvious Answer Du Jour: Billy Gunn.

estragand - February 3, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
Hmm..as much as I wanted to go with Chuck Palumbo or the Big Show, I'll go with:

"Road Dogg" Jesse James/Roadie/ BG James/etc.

OrangeGoblinFan - February 3, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
Hmm...

Konnan (stablemate in 3LK, but are more often tag partners in 2-on-2 situations than with Ron Killings, who is basically a dead-end answer).

estragand - February 3, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
Rey Mysterio, Jr.
