Nim's Island: Our World -
A Reel Thinking Event Hosted by Jeff Corwin
Program Overview
The Nim's Island: Our World - Reel Thinking Event is a multi-component educational and entertainment event designed to engage students nationwide. The 30-minute commercial-free program will highlight how children can take care of where they live - their "island" - by taking an active role in protecting the environment. The show will premiere on Animal Planet on April 2nd at 10am PST/EST and simultaneously on the "cable in the classroom" program, which reaches more than 90,000 schools nationwide. Hosted by Jeff Corwin, one of Animal Planet's on-air personalities, the program will include interviews with Nim's Island cast & filmmakers, film clips and profiles on children who have already begun to affect change with the environment through their own efforts.
The event's final segment will introduce a challenge for teachers and their students to develop an idea that will help preserve their environment. These ideas will then be submitted to Animal Planet's Reel Thinking website and will be judged by a panel of environmental experts. Three top ideas will be selected and the winning classes and corresponding schools will be awarded a cash prize to help plan and execute their ideas.
