Here is where we'll discuss the various literary works we enjoy or hate. Let's start off with Faveourite books. Mine is American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

Real F'n Show - December 14, 2004 11:06 PM (GMT)
I'm reading Dark Tower IV right now. I've loved the series up to this point. Anybody else reading/read these? If not, I highly suggest you do.

The Last Free Voice - December 14, 2004 11:57 PM (GMT)
I have not read those yet, but I will get to them all sooner or later. I'm an incasious reader... And horrible speller.

Have you read Neverwhere? Or Stardust? They're all good.

EDIT: The title of the thread made me think this was a thread about weed.

The Last Free Voice - December 16, 2004 09:51 PM (GMT)
Yea, I read both. I liked them, allthough I was let down by the end of Neverwhere. Total cop-out.

Nothing wrong with that......I also thought the same thing.

So since I've stumbled here I was wondering, anyone ever read Richard Matheson's book, "I am Legend"?

SamoaRowe - December 31, 2004 04:39 AM (GMT)
I got to read Invisible Man and Song of Solomon for school this semester. Both rocked hard.

whitemilesdavis - December 31, 2004 05:23 PM (GMT)
Invisible Man is probably my favorite book ever. I love a good story about sticking it to the man.

Oh yes, my favorite part of that entire book was the prologue where he is explaining all of his invisible habits (along with his blatant stealing from the power company). The rest of the book is good too, but I just love the beginning.

The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2005 06:39 PM (GMT)
This past weekend I got the 1602 Hardcover, and hot DAYUM, it's a great read. Gaiman does it again. I want 1605. Or 1611. Or SOMETHING. Didn't Neil have another Marvel thing planned?

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 06:41 PM (GMT)
...Holy Crap, I got this topic wrong. I thought it was somewhere for loser potheads to post about how much fake drugs they've done.

whitemilesdavis - January 17, 2005 06:43 PM (GMT)
I just did 13 fake extacy.

The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
Bobcat, how stoned must you be to think I would start a pot thread?

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
I don't know...

<--- out of his mind.

Now that we have an actually Literature topic (God, damn I'm stupid), I've been reading the short stories from Star Wars: Tales From Jabba's Palace. The Rancor story is pretty amusing, but pretty long compared to the others.

The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
Wow, I read that ages ago... I don't remember much of it, except thinking that Boba Fett would have totally fucked Leia...

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
Boba doesn't like crack addicts. :D He might've fucked the corpse of one of the midgets in Cloud City though, but nothing substantial to back that statement up.

I also have on my reading list after that: Tales From Mos Eisley Cantina and Tales of the Bounty Hunters.

Yeah, I'm a Star Wars freak. I just never realized I had these books until recently (except the BH one, which I recently got from Amazon.com)

The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
I have bounty hunters. Pretty good. I won't spoil it for you though.

Scrooge McSuck - January 17, 2005 07:48 PM (GMT)
All I know is I heard the Bossk tale is pretty boring compared to the others. I won't disagree with that comment since he doesn't look to exciting in Empire Strikes Back (for the 7 seconds of screen time the character has).

The Last Free Voice - January 17, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
Yea. Bossks is pretty dull. And Boba's is blown out of the water by Episode II, but then again, it's the EU.

The Last Free Voice - January 26, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
Got Watchmen this past weekend, and It can be summed up in one word: Brilliant. I loved it this second time, now that I understood it more. Allthough the whole Pirate thing was still a bit over my head, I just loved this book.

Also got Sandman Vol. 2, which was also very very good.

Reading a book called Briar Rose for school, and I'm quite interested by it. Kinda a modern faery tale...

I may be getting Sandman Endless Nights later today. I read that once too, but didn't know a thing about Sandman, so I didn't get it.

You have to read the Sandman TPB's to get all of the things in Endless Nights.

And yes, Watchmen is brilliant. I got the #1 issue for $2.25 from a retarded comic book store in Tennessee. Retarded because I'm sure it's worth more than that.

The Last Free Voice - January 27, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
Yea. I now have Endless Nights, Preludes and Nocturnes, Dolls House and Seasons Of Mists. I would have gotten a diferent one, but the only other one they had was P&N, which I have allready. So ::Shrug::.

The Last Free Voice - January 31, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
Got Good Omens and "The Portable Dante" (Which is Paradise and Inferno together) from the library...

Good Omens is great. Does the portable Dante have Paradiso? If not, that's weird.

The Last Free Voice - January 31, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
Yea... I English-ized it to paradise. Unless I got my translation wrong. It's also got somethign called Vita Nuova.

The Last Free Voice - February 1, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
Bought Gaiman's Neverwhere, because it was there and cheap and I liked it the first time through.

Big F'N Swigg - March 10, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
Just finished Tietam Brown. Really liked it.

The Last Free Voice - March 15, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
I read Nick Sagan's IDLEWILD last week, and it was awesome.

I keep almost buying that at Borders. Is it worth 14 dollars?

I got it for $2 at Half Price Books. I would gladly pay full price for it. I think it's one of the most honest stories I've ever read. There was no glossing over anything, as the main character came across as a real teenage kid. There was also plenty of personality unraveling from the father, and the girlfriend.

Thanks for the info. I'm definitly going to keep that in mind the next time I'm holding it in my hands debating whether to buy it or not.

Mad Dog - April 6, 2005 02:45 PM (GMT)
I'm currently reading the 1st book of the DragonLance Chronicles.

TheGreatWhiteChoate - April 26, 2005 06:05 AM (GMT)
I'm reading John Dower's War Without Mercy for my history class right now. Really powerful, eye opening stuff.

What are the DragonLance chronicles?

dynamite kido - April 26, 2005 10:23 PM (GMT)
I just finished the Terry Funk book which is a must read for ALL wrestling fans.

I just started reading the Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre in the best of H.P. Lovecraft series today though.......good so far.

Big F'N Swigg - April 26, 2005 11:00 PM (GMT)
I just finished "Silent Bob Speaks" by Kevin Smith. If you're a Smith fan, it's a must read. If not, burn in hell

The Last Free Voice - April 26, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
WHAT? THERE IS A SMITH BOOK!?!?!?!

HOW DID I MISS THAT?

Big F'N Swigg - April 27, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
I found it at Borders. It's essays he wrote for magazines and websites. Really good insight into Hollywood from the eyes of a Jersey bum

Scrooge McSuck - April 27, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
I just finished "Revenge of the Sith" (no, I couldn't wait for the movie), and it has completely restored my faith after two very disapointing prequels.

The Last Free Voice - April 27, 2005 02:57 AM (GMT)
Somehow I have managed to hold out. I'm Spoiler Free (mostly) For Episode THree! WOOOT!

Scrooge McSuck - April 27, 2005 03:35 AM (GMT)
I'm sure you know the most obvious stuff, but being spoiler free has it's advantages. I just can't wait to see Anakin get his ass handed to him by Obi-Wan (one of the most obvious).
