Xtreme Pro Wrestling. It doesn't conjure up many memories from wrestling fans, most of them anyways. Those memories are usually bad ones however. You see, XPW was a hardcore promotion based out of a SoCal. They tried to be like ECW but failed... epicly. Anyways, this show is called Redemption. Maybe they'll redeem up from shitty wrestling? HAHA! Oh I kid. the show date is April 11, 2001 according to a horrible graphic. Seriously, it looks like a three year old made the DVD menu and graphics. Oh, you might see a few porn stars here in XPW because WRESTLING AND PORN ARE XTREME!!! I mean, they featured such women as Lizzy Borden and Major Gunns. Clean looking women these will not be. Aw crap, I've gone off on a tanget again. Onto the show!
First Match: "Technical Meltdown" (XPW gave labels to their matches.) Rising Sun/Ultrataro Jr. vs. Excalibur/Super Dragon
Backstory: A match.
Outcome: Super Dragon via pinfall after a Dragon Bomb on Rising Sun
Analysis: HOLY CRAP! This is actually decent. They don't go out of the way to tell a story but instead just go full bore for about a good seven/eight minutes. Both teams just beat the absolute hell out of each other and everything was pretty clean. Plus when you see people hitting moves clean in XPW, it's a huge bonus. Although there are some silly things about this match. Such as I think it was Rising Sun made a hot tag after maybe getting two moves planted on him. But like I said, this is XPW, the land where nothing makes sense. So basically, this match consists of more dives then a Jack Evans' match, more head drops then a puro match and maybe one or two botches. Would have been great if they would have gotten more then a seven minutes to show what they could do. Probably the best match on this disc and it's one of the shortest. That's XPW for you. **1/4
Second Match: "Idenity Crisis" "Mr. 80's" Dynamite D vs. Kraq w/Angel
Backstory: Dynamite D rips off 80's gimmicks. Tonight, he is Jake Roberts. So it's ironic he's facing someone named Kraq. What genius booking.
Outcome: "Mr. 80's" Dynamite D via pinfall after a DDT.
Analysis: Okay... where to start with this one. Uh, it's different. I'll give it that. With D's gimmick, it adds something to the match but not too much. Kraq basically kicks his ass the whole time and Angel intereferes from time to time. Although Dynamite D thinks he's Jake Roberts tonight, why would he then do a dropkick because I don't think Jake ever did one. But everything about the match builds towards the DDT. At one point in the match, Dynamite Roberts, see what I did there, he forces Angel to simulate a blow job on Kraq. But once Dynamite Roberts hits the DDT, well, it finally put this crap to rest. Although there isn't anything horrible inoffensive, it's nothing great either. It looked like they tried though and I appauld effort. Too bad the rating doesn't appauld effort. 1/2*
Third Match: Dynamite D vs. Nosawa
Backstory: Nosawa is Japanese. So after Dynamite's match... HE PEARL HARBORS HIM! MORE GENIUS BOOKING BECAUSE IT'S PEARL HARBOR WEEKEND!
Outcome: Nosawa via pinfall after a Scoop Driver
Analysis: Wow, guess what, another bad match. But with Nosawa, that's to be expected. I honestly can't find much to say about this match because it's pretty brutal. When they struggle to correctly do a simple spot such as banging someone's head against the top turnbuckle, yeah. And Dynamite has suddenly transformed back into himself after getting attacked by Nosawa. But whatever. 1/4* Deal with it.
In Ring Segment: The Black Army is in the ring (Rob Black, Lizzy Borden, Messiah, Kronus and Vic Grimes.) Black is talking about something. He's cussing a lot and talks about moving the company to New York. Like it'd do any better there. Anyways, he goes on and on about how Sabu is hurt and how Sabu's manager, Josh Lazie, should defend the title in his place. Lazie comes out and says he won't do the fighting because he's found a replacement for Sabu. Then ICP and Vampiro come out and say nothing of importance before beating down Lazie and turning heel. Wow, great debut. Oh well.
Fourth Match: "Lonely At The Top" Pogo the Clown vs. John Kronus
Backstory: Pogo is undefeated. He cuts a promo about hating the Black Army so Kronus comes out. Wouldn't an untrained monkey be better? Anyways...
Outcome: No one... but if you wanna get technical, I think it was Kronus
Analysis: Could this be one of the worst matches I've ever seen? The answer is yes. There are a couple of good spots to this match but everything is completely boring and I'd rather be doing something else instead of watching this match. But, I hate myself so I gotta keep watching this show. As far as this match goes, the less said about it, the way better you'll feel about life.
Yeah, that's as far as I got before I wanted to stab myself in the head with an ice pick.
