Title: April 2008 DWS Feedback
Description: What the world is Reading!
Erick Von Erich - April 2, 2008 05:57 AM (GMT)
Fans, March was the Greatest Month in the History of Our Website!
Top referrals for the month:
1 - kerry von erick
2- dawrestlingsite
3- wrestling site
4- von erick
5- wwe 24/7 reviews
6- wwf msg cards
7- amazing kong vs candice lerae
8- beverly brothers interview
9- coliseum home video reviews
10- world class david manning
11- wrestling at copps coliseum
12- "billy jack haynes" pecs
Okay, so the last one wasn't really #12...it was #78 or something. Just had to throw it in for bizareness' sake.
No "nwa showcase reviews". Sorry, Rowey.
SamoaRowe - April 2, 2008 10:52 AM (GMT)
Oh well, I'll take comfort that the "Candice LeRae vs. Kong" thing came from a Showcase review. :)
Erick Von Erich - April 2, 2008 04:15 PM (GMT)
It's really quite ridiculous that most referrals are for some variation of "Von Erick". Shows you the type of rubes we're attracting. That's like searching for "Hulk Hogun". *sigh*
Erick Von Erich - April 2, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
In the words of Jim Ross, you may have thought: "BY GAWD, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE, DAMMIT?!!"
Took Rowe's suggestion from awhile back and condensed the forums a little bit. "Random Stuff" has finally mated (eww) with "General Discussion".
The "Entertainment" section has now morphed into "Other stuff" and also includes "Feedback/Suggestions". The other "General Discussion" has been eliminated, as both of its categories were folded into "Other Stuff".
Bumped "Fantasy Booking" down to the #3 overall section, since it's primarily only used by members.
The idea is to make the board look busier, without spreading topics thinly over additional forums. Nothing was deleted-- everything's still here. It's the same...but different.
Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2008 04:44 PM (GMT)
Can we change the tag line for the TNA forum to something making fun of the "Cross The Line" slogan they have now?
Erick Von Erich - April 4, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
Sure. I haven't watched TNA in forever, so I'm not surprised that the "This...(boom-ba-boom-ba-boom-ba-boom-ba)...is TNA" is outdated.
Is their full slogan "Cross the Line", or there something longer?
Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2008 05:15 PM (GMT)
It's just "Cross the Line".
I thought something like "Cross the Line with the company barely drawing a dime" would do
Erick Von Erich - April 4, 2008 05:24 PM (GMT)
"Drawing a dime" was too long (three lines), so I went with "Cross the Line...into foul territory".
But who says this isn't the DWB Age of Frantic Furious Fan Feedback!? 'nuff said!
Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
Is there anyway we can have something on the main page that tells us when the blogs have been updated? Just curious.
Erick Von Erich - April 4, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
Not that I'm aware. Each blog has an RSS feed at the bottom, though. You can manually subscribe, that way.
SamoaRowe - April 4, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
New Showcase review is up on the main site. Here's a teaser: Sexy Sonny Sampson actually IMPRESSES me this week!
Also, I just might have another new review done today.

I'll have to read it tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
SamoaRowe - April 5, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it's still not up. So either E is out and about doing E-like things, or he doesn't want it B) .
Erick Von Erich - April 5, 2008 04:59 PM (GMT)
I added it shortly after I received it on Friday:
http://www.dawrestlingsite.com/wrestling/c...case_040208.phpPlus it was listed on the "Latest Reviews" list, the RSS feed and the "current reviews" index
SamoaRowe - April 5, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
What about the second review I sent you?
Erick Von Erich - April 8, 2008 04:45 PM (GMT)
BTW, I hope you guys have been able to read the little "description" tags I put in the RSS feed.
My favorite is: "Can Homicide fulfill the boyhood dream of going to Lockdown?"
Big F'N Swigg - April 9, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
What's up with the buttons on the board? Why is the font suddenly black?
Erick Von Erich - April 9, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Had a few minutes and modified them to resemble the secondary font from Da' Site (the one we use for "Featured Review", "Forum Categories" and in a few other places).
Big F'N Swigg - April 9, 2008 11:47 PM (GMT)
You can do stuff like that? Why haven't we done stuff like that before?
Erick Von Erich - April 10, 2008 04:21 AM (GMT)
Really a time issue for me. If anybody would like to put together a functional stylesheet for Da' Board, go ahead.
Big F'N Swigg - April 10, 2008 02:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't have time for that, either.
Erick Von Erich - April 11, 2008 08:27 PM (GMT)
Just so's all you contributors know: Da' Site's traffic has been on a steady upward climb since we've launched. We average about 22-30 new unique visits per day. Combine this with our returning traffic and it's good exposure. In case you missed it (and I know that was...oh, ALL of you), we were even contacted for a promotional CD from Sony/BMG music. Heck, even spam has picked up.
Our Google Page Rank has jumped up to a solid "3" (out of 10. With 10 being an Amazon, Google or CNN). By comparison, my crappy website that's been around for 8 years is a "2".
I know, you're probably saying: "then why hasn't anyone emailed ME about my review, or posted on my blog?!"
Well, on any given website roughly 90% of your traffic remains anonymous. That is, they don't want to expose themselves by e-mailing or jumping into a message board. But people ARE reading our junk. The stats prove it. Someone just wants to see who won a title at a certain PPV...but they don't feel the need to gab with us. And that's fine.
For increased exposure, I need YOU guys'eseses help. I don't frequent wrestling sites, so I have no way to promote our site with little plugs. One easy way to plug our site is to edit Wikipedia for old PPV's. I posted three or four little links to our reviews on there and they've landed good traffic. InSurrexxtion, a few TNA Bound for Glory PPV's, etc. Just a simple external link at the bottom of each event that says: "Recap and Analysis at DWS".
I'd do more of these, but I don't want to look like a postwhore in Wikipedia's eyes. So if we get three or four of us seeding little links throughout the months, we'll avoid that. Wikipedia is edited, but so far the links I've posted have remained. Just don't go overboard with this and we'll be okay.
Also, I can't control what you do with your reviews...but I'd recommend not posting them on other message boards. A poster at that board will think: "gee, why should I care about this guy's reviews on Some Site, when he posts all his stuff here?" I know, the common retort is: "but I get good feedback on Colonel Colon-blow's Wrestling and Video Game Board!" Then promote it there...but include a link to Da' Site for the full review. They'll still be giving you feedback there, but you'll be doing us all a favor by increasing the site's overall traffic. Again, it's a free country and you can do whatever you want... but it's a suggestion.
I'm not too big on our MySpace profile as a promotional tool, though. I still plug Da' Site through the occassional "bulletin". But,--- surprise, surprise,-- most rasslin' fans on MySpace are complete rubes. Check it out and you'll see that someone wished us a Happy Birthday. Also, several folks think we actually live in Humpty Doo, Australia. I've received very little coherent feedback from any of our "friends" on there. Like the clown who said: "Y did WSX not go on MTV anymore" (sic).
Oh and Darryl kicked us off of his MySpace "Friend" list. Ooooo...BURN!!
Big F'N Swigg - April 12, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
I'm so sad I never thought of the name "Colonel Colon-blow's Wrestling and Video Game Board."
And ditto on MySpace as a promotional tool. I've found that people will add you just to have more numbers under their friend list.
Erick Von Erich - April 15, 2008 06:14 AM (GMT)
Too bad April 1 has already passed. Re-doing the board for one day as "Captin Colon-Blow's Wrestling and Vidoe Game Board" (sic) would've been awesome. Big pictures of Shawn Michaels and giant GIfs of Victoria on every page!!! Plus, embedded YouTube Mario Bros videos for your signature!!
Mad Dog - April 17, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
I'm hoping to do a World Championship Wrestling review this weekend.
Erick Von Erich - April 17, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
Jillie - April 17, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Is there a graphics place where I can beg someone to make me a banner? lol
Erick Von Erich - April 18, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
The DWS/DWB Graphics Department might be able to supply you with a custom banner. Similar to what Rowe is sporting. No animations, though...cuz' a good banner shouldn't need to be animated.
Jillie - April 18, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
I just want something fun and obnoxiously Canadian. :D
Erick Von Erich - April 18, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
"obnoxiously"?! That's my cue!!
You'll either dig this, or want to kick me in the nards:

LMAO!! That's the best banner ever. Totally added.
SamoaRowe - April 19, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
SamoaRowe and the 50% of him that's Canadian approves.
Mad Dog - April 19, 2008 04:39 PM (GMT)
My review is about half done and should be finished sometime tomorrow. This show never actually aired on 24/7 so you're getting a bonus with this one.
Mad Dog - April 20, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
Done and turned in. I'll probably start picking at the 5-4 World Championship Wrestling show after work tomorrow. Expect it to be done sometime next weekend.
SamoaRowe - April 20, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
The NWA Showcase changed nights, so I'm not sure when the new episode will be posted.
Erick Von Erich - April 20, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
Oh by the way...have YOU supported Da' Site this week?!
Remember: don't go overboard with the "support", but one or two per day will help out.
Hint: anything that sez "tickets" helps out immensely.
As always, PM me if you don't know how to help...or if you have no idea what I'm talking about and want to start helping.
Big F'N Swigg - April 23, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
Is there a reason General Discussion is above the Comics section on the board? It's a bit confusing
Erick Von Erich - April 23, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
To confuse Swiggy!
Naw..hadn't noticed that. My thought was that "General" would go last, since it's sort of a catch-all topic. If nothing fits up top, it tumbles down to the last category.
I think it'd make better sense to re-order the order of topic on Da' Board. So maybe I'll get around to that. It's not really an issue, either way.
Oh, I was planning on adding a half-ass review of PTW from 9/24/87 here on Da' Board. But after typing about the first three segments, it looks like it could be big enough to be an actual article on Da' Site. I know you're concerned... so I'll keep you informed.
Erick Von Erich - April 24, 2008 04:11 PM (GMT)
Added a new recap of Prime Time Wrestling. Since we now have a whopping FOUR episodes recapped-- and since I'm expecting more-- I moved all the PTW recaps from "flashback reviews" into the "WWE 24/7" section.
Since "flashback reviews" has gotten so big, I'll probably go through and organize that area into sub-categories. At the very least, I'll put all the WrestleMania recaps into their own category. Maybe add "ROH", "WWF/E" and "TNA" categories, too.
Big F'N Swigg - April 24, 2008 05:01 PM (GMT)
I was actually thinking about mentioning that to you the other day.
