Title: Mid-South Wrestling

Mad Dog - March 29, 2008 04:21 AM (GMT)
So, we're going to give this a go. This will be run with the system I was using for SMW last year. Shows will be once a week ideally but with my schedule it might be whenever I feel like throwing out a show. Here's the basic information for you:

Announce Crew: Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Championships:

North American Heavyweight Championship
Mid-South Tag Team Championship
Mid-South Television Championship
Louisiana Heavyweight Championship
Mississippi Heavyweight Championship

The roster will shift around like a territorial promotion would. There will be main stays throughout though. Most of the roster will be guys that actually fought in Mid-South or were in the general region at the time.

Mad Dog - March 29, 2008 06:49 AM (GMT)
Mid-South Wrestling Television Episode #1: 3/22/08:

Hosts are Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Ross: Welcome to the debut broadcast of Mid-South Wrestling. We've got an exciting show for you tonight. We'll be unveiling the brackets and seedings for the North American Heavyweight Championship Tournament. We also have a huge main event for you as Ted Dibiase will take on Ernie Ladd. No one else would offer you that kind of match for free on television. Also in action tonight will be Magnum TA, One Man Gang and the Great Kabuki. We're getting right down to business tonight so I'm handing things over to my co-host Bill Watts.

Watts: Thanks Jim. We'll start off tonight by revealing the seedings for our North American Heavyweight Title Tournament:

1. Ted Dibiase
2. Paul Orndorff
3. Ernie Ladd
4. Junkyard Dog
5. Bob Roop
6. Dick Murdoch
7. Mr. Wrestling II
8. Bob Orton Jr.
9. Terry Taylor
10. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
11. Butch Reed
12. Brad Armstrong
13. King Kong Bundy
14. Iron Sheik
15. Eddie Gilbert
16. One Man Gang

Watts: Now you might be wondering how we determined the seedings. We looked at each person's success in the surrounding regions. Titles won, big matches and even what they get paid. We wanted the top stars to get the best possible road to the title. This is a star studded lineup if you ask me. And before we head to the opening bout here's the brackets for the tournament:

1. Ted Dibiase vs. 16. One Man Gang
8. Bob Orton Jr. vs. 9. Terry Taylor
5. Bob Roop vs. 12. Brad Armstrong
4. Junkyard Dog vs. 13. King Kong Bundy
6. Dick Murdoch vs. 11. Butch Reed
3. Ernie Ladd vs. 14. Iron Sheik
7. Mr. Wrestling II vs. 10. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
2. Paul Orndorff vs. 15. Eddie Gilbert

Watts: Now let's head to the ring. Our first match features perhaps the hottest prospect on the scene today. Magnum TA is one of the best pieces of raw talent I've seen in a long time. He's got a tough opponent tonight in Angel Rivera...

Magnum TA pinned Angel Rivera at 4:24 with a piledriver

Magnum TA and Mr. Wrestling II stop by the announce table for an interview.

Ross: Magnum TA dropped out of the tournament and was replaced by Brad Armstrong. I'm not seeing any injuries. Why make that particular move at this time.

TA: I was advised by my mentor here to drop out of the tournament. He felt I needed more seasoning and that suffering a loss in the tournament would be a setback to my progress.

Watts: It sounds to me that Mr. Wrestling II is afraid of a little extra competition.

Wrestling II: That's not the case at all. The simple matter is that Magnum TA isn't quite ready for something as big as a tournament. He could make some noise and maybe even win. But I'm more worried about the toll it would take on his body. He hasn't fought for more than a few minutes here and there in matches. And in a tournament you're talking about wrestling maybe 4 times in a night for who knows how long. I don't want him to wear himself down and then struggle through injuries and losing winnable matches. I'd rather play this conservative and let him build up to challenging for the title down the road.

Ross: That makes a lot of sense to me. While you're here. How are you feeling about drawing Hacksaw Jim Duggan as your first round match?

Wrestling II: Duggan is without a doubt one of the toughest men in Mid-South Wrestling. He lacks a lot of technical skill but he makes up for it with his brawling and brute strength. I have to say that he does concern me. I don't think I can go toe to toe with him for very long. I'll just have to use my superior technical skills and try to keep him off of his feet.

Watts: Let's head to the ring for our next match. The One Man Gang is one of the best big men in the sport of wrestling today. He's a contender for the top title in any promotion from the second he enters. He faces the Black Demon tonight in what many are calling a total mismatch. Let's see how it plays out in the ring...

One Man Gang pinned the Black Demon at 5:09 with a roll up

One Man Gang and Skandar Akbar stop by the announce table.

Ross: You seem to be rather please with yourself. You have King Kong Bundy, the Iron Sheik and the One Man Gang in the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament. You have to like those chances.

Akbar: I do. They might all be lower seeded wrestlers but the seeding was ultimately meaningless for this tournament. It was just window dressing to justify the first round match ups that we got. Let's look at things objectively. The One Man Gang can beat Ted Dibiase, King Kong Bundy can beat the Junkyard Dog and the Iron Sheik can beat Ernie Ladd. I could get 2 or 3 guys out of the first round and then our chances are really good.

Ross: I would think that Ernie Ladd is a bad match up for the Iron Sheik.

Akbar: That's why you sit behind the table calling the matches and it's why I'm a millionaire right now. Ladd is a very tough opponent but the Iron Sheik has made a career out of beating opponents he's supposed to lose too. My Devastation Inc. team will have the North American Heavyweight Championship.

Watts: It's time for our next match. The foreign superstar the Great Kabuki has been wowing American audiences with his hard hitting offense and the green mist he spews. He debuts for us tonight. Will he live up to his massive hype?

the Great Kabuki pinned Joe Lightfoot at 2:43 with a body press

Gary Hart and the Greak Kabuki come to the announce table.

Hart: I just want to say that it's a horrible miscarriage of justice that the Great Kabuki was excluded from the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament. This man is the most talented man in the world. He is the All Asia Heavyweight Champion. If anyone deserved a slot in this tournament it's this man right here.

Watts: We looked long and hard at outside success and frankly your man just hasn't wrestled enough in the United States. How does being the All Asian Heavyweight Champion translate to the southern United States? I can't even see this man wrestle unless I want to spend a ton of money to import tapes of him from Japan.

Hart: Then I'm going to officially throw the challenge out there. Whoever wins this tournament we want the first shot at you.

Watts: It's time for our main event of the week. Watch as the No. 1 see Ted Dibiase takes on the No. 3 seed Ernie Ladd. You're looking at a possible sneak peak at the tournament final.

Main Event:
Ted Dibiase d. Ernie Ladd by DQ at 12:40 when Paul Orndorff interferes

Orndorff continues to pound away at Dibiase. He finally decides to stop and tries to celebrate with Ernie Ladd. Ladd levels him with a huge headbutt and then bodyslams him out of the ring. Ladd walks over to the announce table and grabs the mic.

Ladd: I came to Mid-South Wrestling for one thing and one thing only. To make a whole mess of money. Winning the North American Heavyweight Championship will help me achieve that goal. Just holding a belt let's you hold everyone up for a little extra on your paycheck. What does not get me closer to that goal is getting involved in the petty little feuds going on here. Ted Dibiase... Paul Orndorff... stay out of my way. I don't want to get involved with your issues. I'm here to better myself. You won't get me there. If either of you get in my way I'll make you regret it.

Ross: We have a little extra time this week so let's head to one of our pre-taped stand-by matches...

Stand-By Match:
Pistol Pez Whatley pinned Jake Milleman with a clothesline at 2:19

Ross: Thank you for joining us for the debut broadcast of Mid-South Wrestling Television. Join us next week as we continue to explore the matches in the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament. We'll also have more inring action that only Mid-South Wrestling can bring you...

Mad Dog - March 29, 2008 04:17 PM (GMT)
Mid-South Wrestling Television Episode #2: 3/29/08

taped from the Irish McNiel Boys Club (Shreveport, LA)

Hosts are Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Ross: Welcome to another exciting edition of Mid-South Wrestling. In our main event tonight the Rock N Roll Express will take on the Masked Grapplers. We'll also be hearing from Paul Orndorff, Ernie Ladd, Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express, the Junkyard Dog and Skandor Akbar. Well, it looks like Paul Orndorff wants to start us off this week. Why did you attack Ted Dibiase last week? You haven't even had a match in Mid-South yet and you're already at his throat.

Orndorff: You see this cast right here?

Ross: Yes, we all noticed it last week. Especially when you were using it as a weapon on Ted Dibiase...

Orndorff: Well, I got this cast in Georgia a few weeks ago. You want to know who broke my arm and gave me this cast?

Ross: I don't have the slightest idea.

Orndorff: Well, I'll tell you. Ted Dibiase gave me this cast. I was stripped of the Georgia Heavyweight Championship due to my injuries at the time. Now I want some payback. I've lost a lot of money by not having that belt around my waist and he's going to pay for it out of his hide.

Watts: Shouldn't you be more worried about your first round match with Eddie Gilbert. You talk about a title bringing in money. Why don't you just focus on winning the North American Heavyweight Championship and use that to start making money again.

Orndorff: Don't worry about that Bill. I am completely focused on what I have to do in the tournament. I'm training with every possible scenario in mind. I'm doing a lot of endurance exercises so I can deal with maybe having to wrestle as long as 4 hours in a single night. Trust me. I'm the No. 2 seed in this tournament for a reason.

Watts: Let's head to the ring for our first match of the night. The Snowman will be in action for the first time in a Mid-South ring...

The Snowman submits Joe Lightfoot with the Bearhug at 11:41

The Junkyard Dog joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: The JYD is the No. 4 seed in the tournament and he has a tough first round match up against King Kong Bundy. How are you going to deal with a man of that size?

JYD: It won't be easy. But I have given the Big Thump to the One Man Gang before. And if I can give it to the One Man Gang, I can give the move to anyone out there. I'm most worried about staying out of the corners with Bundy. He can catch you with that Avalanche move of his out of nowhere. I'm a strong man but no one can survive that kind of weight crashing into you with as much force as he hits with.

Ross: Well good luck to you.

Watts: It's time for our main event. The top tag team in the world the Rock N Roll Express will be taking on the mysterious team of the Masked Grapplers. Both teams have been invited into the tournament for the Mid-South Tag Team Title Tournament. Let's head to the ring...

Main Event:
Rock N Roll Express vs. the Masked Grapplers - Double DQ at 6:13 due to constant brawling

Both teams continue to brawl until security breaks them up.

Ross: Wow, that match got out of hand quickly. It looks like there's some bad blood developing between those teams. Since we've got time left, we've got a series of stand-by matches and interviews to fill in the hour...

Stand-By Match:
Paul Orndorff pinned Ken Jugan with the Clothesline at 7:52

Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express join the announce table.

Cornette: Give me that mic. We don't need anyone to ask us questions or to introduce us. This is Beautiful Bobby Eaton and this is Loverboy Dennis Condrey. I am of course the greatest manager in the world Jim Cornette. We came to Mid-South for two reasons. One to get rid of the Rock N Roll Express and the second reason is to add another set of tag team belts to our collection. We've been fighting the Rock N Roll Express all over this country of ours. We've been winning titles left and right and showing fans what real tag team wrestling looks like. So get ready. The Midnight Express is about to take Mid-South by storm. And men, lock up your ladies because no woman can resist the charms of these two men.

Stand-By Match:
Bob Sweetan pinned Bill Dixon with an illegal punch at 6:00

Devastation Inc. joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: A lot of big men in this stable. I'd hate to get on the bad side of a group that's sporting King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang and the Iron Sheik. Do you have plans for expanding your group?

Akbar: I already have. The Missing Link was just signed to my group this morning and he'll start appearing with us next week.

Ross: That seems like a risky move. He's a tough man to control and he could be more trouble than he's worth.

Akbar: Look at who's in my group right now. He'll fall in place quickly if he doesn't want to get on their bad side. And trust me. No one wants to get on the bad side of these men.

Ross: The JYD was out here earlier saying that he's confident that he can slam King Kong Bundy in a match.

Bundy: He can think that all he wants but the simple fact is that I've never been slammed in my career.

Akbar: That's right. I think the JYD has used that headbutt one too many times in his career. No one has ever slammed this man and no one ever will.

Stand-By Match:
Brian Blair pinned Jose Rivera with an elbow at 5:08

Ross: Thanks for joining us again this week. Join us next week as we continue to build up to the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament.

House shows are going to be a whenever I feel like it. There will be big arena shows that I build to that will effect the product though. House shows will be different though. House shows for all purposes don't effect the television product. So remember what happens on television overrides house shows unless a house show event is shown on television or mentioned on television.

Mid-South Wrestling Television Episode #3: 4-5-08:

taped from the Irish McNiel Boys Club (Shreveport, LA)

Hosts are Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Ross: Welcome to another exciting edition of Mid-South Wrestling. We have a big main event for you tonight as Bob Orton Jr. and Paul Orndorff take on Ted Dibiase and Hacksaw Jim Duggan in our feature bout. We'll also be seeing Brad Armstrong, Leroy Brown and Magnum TA in action. We'll also be hearing from several of the participants from the North American Title Tournament. That will be happening this week folks. When you tune in next week we'll have crowned a new champion! The man sitting next to me right now is the No. 5 seed in the tournament Bob Roop. Not many people have heard of you. Would you like to introduce yourself.

Roop: I am a former Olympic wrestler. I finished 7th in the 1968 Olympic games. I won an NCAA Championship for my weight class in 1967. If you want to talk about someone who knows how to wrestle and wrestle well that's me. I've spent a majority of my career in Florida since. I won every title you could imagine in the area.

Ross: What brings you to the Mid-South area then?

Roop: Frankly, Florida got boring. I had won every title there was to win. I had beaten every wrestler in the state multiple times. There just wasn't a reason to get out of bed and head to the arena most days. So when I was approached about coming here, I jumped at the chance. Now I have a whole new group of wrestlers to fight and to defeat. I plan to start things on a high note and win the North American Heavyweight Championship this week.

Watts: Let's head to the ring for our first match. The upstart Brad Armstrong will be in action...

Brad Armstrong pinned Pete Sanchez with the Dropkick at 4:46

Brad Armstrong joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: Many are saying you don't belong in the tournament. That Magnum TA should have your spot. How do you respond to those critics?

Armstrong: I don't really have anything to say to them. I can talk until I'm red in the face but it doesn't prove anything. I plan to go out there and wrestle my best. I think a lot of people will be surprised by what they see and understand why I was added to the tournament.

Ross: You're first match is against Bob Roop. He's a very accomplished wrestler. What advantages do you have over him?

Armstrong: My speed is a real advantage. I also have youth and endurance. I think the longer the match goes the more it will benefit me. I just have to keep moving and hitting him. He's a lot stronger than people give him credit for.

Watts: Let's head back to the ring as Leroy Brown makes his debut on Mid-South Television...

Leroy Brown pinned Jake Milleman with the Powerslam at 3:39

Ernie Ladd joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: You caught a lot of people's attention a few weeks ago when you attacked Paul Orndorff. Why are you taking the maverick approach here?

Ladd: It's like I said Jim. I'm here to make a whole mess of money and I don't want to get involved in other people's personal issues. So what if Ted Dibiase broke Paul Orndorff's arm in Georgia. I wasn't there, I didn't see what happens and it doesn't effect me. So they can argue about that as much as they want. Just leave me out of it and stay out of my way in the tournament.

Ross: Are you worried about the men in Devastation Inc.?

Ladd: You always have to be concerned with a group that has so many large men in it. I wouldn't want to fight the One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy in any situation. They're big and tough men. I wouldn't be surprised to see Skandor Akbar take home the title with one of his three entrants.

Watts: Let's head to the ring as the hottest prospect in wrestling returns to action in Mid-South...

Magnum TA pinned Vinnie Valentino with the Belly to Belly Suplex at 6:00

Gary Hart and the Great Kabuki join the announce table for an interview.

Hart: I just want to say yet again that it is a huge miscarriage of justice that my man the Great Kabuki was excluded from the North American Title Tournament. And we expect to receive a title shot against whoever wins that belt later this week.

Watts: And as I told you a few weeks ago. Go out there and accomplish something in the ring and then maybe we'll consider including you. What argument do you have over anyone else currently in the tournament?

Hart: He is the current All Asian Heavyweight Champion. And that championship is one of the most prestigious titles to be had in Asia right now.

Watts: And when has that title ever been defended in the United States? You guys carry that belt around like it's some prize but what good is it to anyone in this area if you're not willing to put it on the line?

Hart: Well, the committee in charge of this belt hasn't authorized us to defend it outside of the great nation of Japan.

Watts: I tell you what... defend that belt on Mid-South Television and we'll talk about getting Kabuki a shot at some more gold.

Hart: ...

Watts: It's time for our main event of the week. Bob Orton Jr. and Paul Orndorff will be taking on Ted Dibiase and Hacksaw Jim Duggan in a tag team attraction...

Main Event:
Bob Orton Jr. and Paul Orndorff vs. Ted Dibiase and Hacksaw Jim Duggan - Double Count Out at 5:21

Bob Roop charges out and it's a 3 on 2 beatdown of Dibiase and Duggan. Orndorff and Roop work over the arm of Dibiase in an attempt to injure him. Suddenly Dick Murdoch hits the ring with a chair and chases them away. Orndorff tries to sneak back in but Murdoch scares him off by hitting the ropes with the chair. Murdoch grabs the house mic.

Murdoch: I know you boys would like to eliminate some of your competition before the tournament... but that's not going to happen as long as I'm around. So why don't you just head to the back with your tails between your legs and just wait till next week like the rest of us are.

Ross: We have a lot of time left over this week so enjoy the stand-by matches we have taped for you...

Stand-By Match:
Junkyard Dog pinned John Bonello with a legal chop at 1:00

King Kong Bundy pinned the Black Demon with a piledriver at 3:48

That 41 minute match with Jim Duggan makes my head hurt  .

But yeah, these results are fun (especially the house shows). Question though, what's up with the dates? 2008 seems kind of weird, unless you're using the impression that these are classic results re-airing today.

Mad Dog - March 31, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
I'm just going with current time since I don't want to deal with working with 80s dates.

Mad Dog - March 31, 2008 02:45 PM (GMT)
And this is Mid-South Hacksaw Jim Duggan. One thing you should know about Mid-South Hacksaw Jim Duggan is that he was actually a really good brawler and had some really good matches with people.

Mid-South Wrestling Television Episode #4: 4-12-08:

taped from the Irish McNiel Boys Club (Shreveport, LA)

Hosts are Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Ross: Welcome to another exciting edition of Mid-South Wrestling. Tonight we have a huge show as we'll be revealing the participants in the Mid-South Tag Team Title Tournament and we'll also be kicking off the Mid-South Television Title Tournament in our main event tonight as Ed Wiskoski will take on Jimmy Garvin. But first things first. We have a new North American Heavyweight Champion and it's Bob Roop. And he's joining us right now for his first interview.

Roop: Thank you Jim Ross. It's a great feeling to be the proud holder of this North American Heavyweight Championship.

Ross: Who do you think your first challenger will be for the title?

Roop: That's a good question Jim. There are a lot of quality talent here that would make good challengers. Any of the guys that participated in the tournament would make good challengers. I could see defending against Ted Dibiase, Dick Murdoch, Paul Orndorff, One Man Gang and the list goes on.

Ross: What do you plan to do in regards to the challenge from Gary Hart and the Great Kabuki?

Roop: I'm going to have to agree with what Bill Watts said last week. The Great Kabuki is a great piece of talent but who has he beaten in the U.S. yet. I've wrestled in Japan and the All Asian Heavyweight Title is very prestigious over there. But he hasn't defended it here yet and that makes a huge difference. So I would advise Gary Hart to sign some matches against some quality opponents if he wants to get me to defend the title.

Watts: Let's head to the ring for our first match...

the Great Kabuki pinned Randy Barber with the Savate Kick at 2:09

Gary Hart and the Great Kabuki join the announce table for an interview.

Hart: Who does Bob Roop think he is? The Great Kabuki is still undefeated in the United States. How does that not earn you a title shot?

Ross: Well, many think you've been beating up on inferior talent to earn this undefeated streak. All Bob Roop is saying is that you need to face some tougher competition and then you might be in the running.

Hart: No one will sign with my man because they're afraid of getting beat.

Dick Murdoch appears on the screen.

Murdoch: I'll take on your boy there. Put that All Asian Title on the line and I'll take you on any time and any place. I'm sick and tired of hearing you out here week after week complaining about not getting a title shot. You know what. I want a title shot too but I've actually faced some strong competition.

Hart: Fine. You want the Great Kabuki so bad. How about you take him on next week?

Murdoch: Sounds good to me.

Watts: It's time for our next match...

One Man Gang pinned Vinnie Valentino with a big elbow at 3:48

Ross: As many of you know we have the tournament for the Mid-South Tag Team Titles coming up in a few weeks. We decided to include 14 teams in this tournament so that means the 1 and 2 seeds will get first round byes. This will be the seedings for the tournament:

1. Rock N Roll Express

Watts: This really is a great stable of talent in the tournament here. I think any of these teams could take home the gold on any given night. The first round byes will be a huge advantage for the Rock N Roll Express and the Midnight Express. I think they could easily be in the final against each other. Well let's head to the ring for our next match...

Junkyard Dog pinned Josh Stroud with the Big Thump Powerslam at 2:23

Ted Dibiase joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: You came up short in the tournament but you still retain a high spot on the contenders list. Where do you go from here?

Dibiase: Well... it appears that Paul Orndorff and I have some unfinished business with each other. What happened in Georgia wasn't intentionally. I went for a flying knee drop, he moved and the next thing I know I'm crashing down onto his exposed arm. He's just bitter because the doctors wouldn't clear him to make his 30 day defense and was stripped of the Georgia Heavyweight Title. He's just forgotten the risks we take when entering the ring. Everyone knows that the next time could be the last time. I never know what injury I could suffer.

Watts: So are you not planning to challenge Bob Roop for the North American Heavyweight Title?

Dibiase: Not at this time. Title shots are hard to come by and I don't want my shot ruined by Orndorff getting involved. I would rather resolve my issues with him before challenging for the title. I plan to win that belt someday. Just not right now.

Watts: It's time for our next match...

the Snowman pinned Bill Dixon with the Powerslam at 7:23

Mr. Wrestling II and Magnum TA join the announce table for an interview.

Ross: Magnum TA is being called the hottest prospect in a decade to enter the world of wrestling. Many are saying that you are the future of wrestling. How does that make you feel?

TA: Pretty good. It's nice to feel like people appreciate your talent and see potential in your future.

Wrestling II: With my guidance you're looking at someone who will hold that North American Championship one day. Who knows, he could hold the NWA World Heavyweight Championship one day.

Ross: Will Magnum TA be entered into any of the future title tournaments.

Wrestling II: There's still a slot open in the Mid-South Television Title Tournament and we're debating the merits of entering him. I think a title belt would do him some good but I'm concerned about too much too soon.

Ross: How are you feeling about your chances in the Mid-South Tag Team Title Tournament?

Wrestling II: I feel good about our chances. I've teamed with Mr. Wrestling I a lot in the past. We're more experienced than we get credit for. I think you'll be surprised at how far we'll get into the tournament.

Watts: It's time for our main event of the week. The Mid-South Television Title Tournament starts with a first round match up...

Main Event:
Mid-South Television Title Tournament Round 1:
Jimmy Garvin pinned Ed Wiskoski with the Spinebuster at 22:18

Jimmy Garvin joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: You move on to the semi-finals for the Mid-South Television Title.

Garvin: I was excluded from the North American Heavyweight Title Tournament and so thankfully someone came to their senses and included me in this tournament. Mid-South Wrestling needs Jimmy Garvin with a title to make it in the world of wrestling. I am by far the biggest name and the best talent in the area at this very moment. I'm being paid very well to be here and to put butts in the seats.

Ross: Due to left over time we have a stand-by match to fill out the hour...

Stand-By Match:
Adrian Street pinned Jake Milleman with an illegal choke at 10:11

Ross: That's all for this week. Join us next week as we talk to some of the teams in the Mid-South Tag Team Title Tournament.

Someone hands Ross a piece of paper.

Ross: Breaking news here folks. It appears that next week our main event will be Dick Murdoch against the Great Kabuki. And get this. The Japan Pro Wrestling Championship Committee has agreed to let the Great Kabuki defend the All Asian Heavyweight Championship against Dick Murdoch on the condition that the match get a 60 minute time limit. Wow, that's a huge main event for next week so don't miss it!

Ross: Welcome to another exciting edition of Mid-South Wrestling. We've got a huge match tonight as Dick Murdoch is challenging the Great Kabuki for the All Asian Heavyweight Championship. The match has a 60 minute time limit so we need to head straight to the ring to make sure you can see the entire match if it goes to the limit...

Main Event:
All Asian Heavyweight Title Match:
the Great Kabuki © d. Dick Murdoch by count out at 36:40

Devastation Inc. continues to work Dick Murdoch over on the outside. King Kong Bundy rolls him into the ring and it's now a 5 on 1 beatdown. One Man Gang hits a running splash in the corner on Murdoch and Bundy follows it up with the Avalanche. Pistol Pez Whatley, Brian Blair and Jesse Barr run out to make the save but they absolutely get destroyed when they hit the ring. Bundy hits each of them with the Avalanche and the Iron Sheik applies the Camel Clutch to each of them. Finally Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Junkyard Dog, Brad Armstrong, Magnum TA and the Rock N Roll Express hit the ring. A wild brawl erupts. The Great Kabuki gets the Double Dropkick from the Rock N Roll Express. JYD and Duggan manage to tackle Bundy and OMG out of the ring. Brad Armstrong and TA take turns punching the Sheik until he finally bails out. The Missing Link gets trapped and gets everyone's finishing move.

Ross: What a wild end to that match. Well, we still have time left in the programming so we'll bring you some stand-by matches and interviews...

Stand-By Match:
Mr. Olympia pinned Bill Dixon with the Powerslam at 1:18

Rock N Roll Express are at the announce table for an interview.

Ross: We're here with the Rock N Roll Express. The team many are calling the best in the world today and the team to beat in our upcoming tournament.

Morton: Thank you Jim. It's very flattering to hear that so many people think so highly of us as a team.

Watts: Let's get to the meat of the issue. The Mid-South Tag Team Title Tournament. You've got the easiest road to the final with a first round bye. Which teams will give you the most problems if you get in a match with them?

Gibson: All of the teams are very good. Personally the New Zealand Sheepherders worry me a lot. They're such a brutal team that even if we win it could cause us to be too worn down to continue on in the tournament.

Morton: I think the Freebirds and Midnight Express will be tough. Both of those situations will be a 3 on 2 situation when you consider that Cornette and Roberts will be at ringside. We'll have to be very careful or they could cost us a match.

Stand-By Match:
Bob Orton Jr. pinned Joe Lightfoot with a low blow at 2:40

Fabulous Freebirds are at the announce table for an interview.

Hayes: No need Jim Ross. We can handle ourselves here. Ladies and gentlemen, you're looking at a group that's about to be littered with titles and championships here in a few weeks. Terry Gordy and I will bring home those Mid-South Tag Team Title belts and our boy Buddy Roberts here is going to bring home that Mid-South Television Title.

Gordy: And don't forget. I want a piece of that North American Heavyweight Championship. Bob Roop, you had it easy in that tournament because you weren't facing the best big man in the business. Put that belt on the line against a real wrestler like me.

Roberts: My first round match against Brian Blair is the main event for the next episode of Power Pro Wrestling. You would think that Mid-South could find a better opponent for me. I'd like some kind of challenge before the semi-finals.

Ross: That's all for this week. Join us next week as we'll be interviewing more teams in the Mid-South Tag Team Title tournament. And we have a big main event for you as the Junkyard Dog will take on the One Man Gang in what is sure to be a real slobberknocker. See you next week!

Mid-South Wrestling Television Episode #6: 4-26-08:

taped from the Irish McNiel Boys Club (Shreveport, LA)

Hosts are Jim Ross and Bill Watts

Ross: Welcome to another exciting edition of Mid-South Wrestling. We have the Junkyard Dog taking on the One Man Gang in today's main event. That should be a real battle between the big men and I for one can't wait to see it. We'll also be hearing from several teams in our tag team title tournament. But first we have the North American Heavyweight Champion Bob Roop with us. What do you have for us this week?

Roop: I have an announcement for everyone. I have signed to defend the North American Heavyweight Championship for the first time on next week's show. My opponent will be none other than Brad Armstrong. We looked at all of the potential contenders and it was agreed that he probably pushed me the hardest out of everyone I faced in the tournament.

Watts: I think that's a bad match up for you. Brad Armstrong is a really young guy. He's fast and he seems to have an unlimited amount of endurance.

Roop: His speed and endurance won't do much if I keep him on the mat and just ground him down. That's the thing with these small quick wrestlers. You can get them down easily and keep them there. And endurance? You're looking at Mr. Endurance right here. I showed that by how much ring time I put in during the tournament for this belt.

Ross: We'll look forwarding to seeing that match on next week's show. Let's head to the ring for our first match...

Terry Taylor pinned Joe Lightfoot with a dropkick at 0:43

Terry Taylor joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: You seem fairly annoyed this week. What's bothering you?

Taylor: I want to know why I was snubbed when they were picking people to participate in the Television Title Tournament. I would've been a great entrant in the tournament.

Ross: Maybe they felt you needed to stay in the running for the North American Title.

Taylor: They weren't even considering me for the title defense next week. As far as I've heard my name wasn't even on the table. So they obviously feel I'm not a contender. So then all logic should dictate that they should've put me in the Television Title tournament. I just want my chance to wear some gold around here. I'm a great young talent and I feel that management isn't getting behind me enough.

Ross: It's time for our next match...

Leroy Brown pinned Vernon Deaton with the Powerslam at 4:00

Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express join the announce table for an interview.

Cornette: I can handle this Jim Ross. No need to soil my team by associating with you. Ladies and gentlemen you're looking at the soon to be Mid-South Tag Team Champions... Beautiful Bobby Eaton and Loverboy Dennis Condrey... the Midnight Express! We've been wowing the crowds all over the south and we've shown everyone that we're the best tag team going in the world today.

Ross: ...

Cornette: What? Do you have something to say to me?

Ross: Actually, yes I do. I want to know how you plan to beat the Rock N Roll Express. No one has managed to escape the Double Dropkick that they use as a finisher. Do you have a counter for that?

Cornette: That is the one thing we haven't figured out yet. There's a way to beat it but we just haven't figured it out yet. But we still have a few days until the tournament. I'm going to sit at home and watch tape nonstop until then. I'll figure out a way to get my boys past that move. We will not be denied our destiny to win every tag team title belt that this great country of ours has to offer!

Ross: It's time for our next match...

Jimmy Valiant pinned Bill Dixon with a legal forearm at 4:44

Skandar Akbar joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: So is the Great Kabuki in your group?

Akbar: Yes he is. Gary Hart will be retained as his manager because he is the only man that control that monster. But he fits in perfectly with my Devastation Inc. group. He's big, he's mean and he wants to destroy everything in his way.

Ross: This also gives your group it's first title in the Mid-South area.

Akbar: Yes it does. It is a great honor to have the All Asia Heavyweight Championship in my group.

Ross: Do you know if the Championship Committee from Japan Pro Wrestling will be allowing anymore title defenses like we saw last week.

Akbar: You would have to discuss that with Gary Hart. Kabuki only comes out when we need him to. His match selection and goals are his own as long as he's where we need him when we need him.

Ross: Well, it looks like your group continues to gain strength in the Mid-South region. It's time for our next match...

Bob Orton Jr. pinned Ken Jugan with a flying clothesline at 6:00

The Fabulous Ones join the announce table for an interview. Just as they get ready to speak the New Zealand Sheepherders attack. Bot teams brawl wildly as Jim Ross and Bill Watts try and get out of the way. Other wrestlers storm out of the back and pull the two teams apart.

Main Event:
One Man Gang d. Junkyard Dog by DQ at 7:29 when JYD accidentally

Devastation Inc. surrounds the ring with Junkyard Dog still trapped inside. Suddenly Dick Murdoch and Hacksaw Jim Duggan slide into the ring wielding baseball bats. It's a big stand off.

Ross: We have a selection of stand-by matches to fill out the hour for you this week...

Butch Reed pinned Jake Milleman with a body press at 1:06

Stand-By Match:
North American Heavyweight Champion Bob Roop pinned the Black Demon with a bodyslam at 3:17

Main Event:
North American Heavyweight Title Match:
Bob Roop © pinned Brad Armstrong with the Shoulderbreaker at 24:00

Bob Roop joins the announce table for an interview.

Ross: A successful defense for the North American Heavyweight Champion tonight. You looked impressive out there.

Roop: Thank you. My opponent was very game tonight. He just isn't a superior athlete like I am. Everyone has been doubting my talent but now you're getting to see it. Bob Roop is the best athlete in Mid-South Wrestling and I want to continue proving it to the likes of Ted Dibiase, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Dick Murdoch.

Ross: A lot of people have seen you affiliating a lot with Bob Orton Jr. and Paul Orndorff. Are you forming a stable of some kind?

Roop: Nothing of the sort. Orton and Orndorff are very close friends. I feel bad for Orndorff after the way Ted Dibiase robbed him of the Georgia Heavyweight Championship a few months ago. I...

Gary Hart appears on the screen.

Hart: Now that you've survived your first title defense it's time to talk about giving my man the Great Kabuki a shot at that title. We went out here a few weeks ago and got a quality win over a quality opponent. So how about giving us that title shot that has been denied to us over and over again.

Roop: It was a nice win and all but you need more of them. 1 quality win does not earn you a shot at this belt.

Hart: I think you're just a coward. You know that the Great Kabuki would beat you in a match.

Bob Roop stands up.

Roop: Now look he...

Suddenly the Great Kabuki attacks. He drags Roop into the ring. Roop catches him coming in and hammers away with fists and forearms. Roop sends Kabuki into the ropes but gets a face full of the Green Mist and then the Savate Kick. Kabuki lays the boots to Roop and then lays the belt out on the mat. He grabs Roop and piledrives him right onto the belt.

Ross: Due to time we'll be providing you with a series of stand-by matches.
