Stumbled onto this today, while dialing up some directions. Not sure how long it's been around, but Google Maps has an interactive "Street View" that allows you to do 360 rotations and navigate around a map, visually. You're not visually seeing map elements.. you're visually seeing pictures of the actual street. It's pretty damn accurate.
Right now, it doesn't include every street in every city, but a good portion of most major cities have it enabled. Here's a screen cap of the "Street View" of my office. I added a red arrow to my window, so you can see where I park my ass, most days.

It's a good time waster. I clicked-through my drive to work, starting from about 2 miles from my front door.
I imagine it'll be a bitch for Google to keep it updated, though. Having to constantly update/refresh images as road are rebuilt, buildings torn down, etc. For instance, their overhead satellite images used to lag behind by about 5 years.
