Title: December 2007 DWS Feedback!
Description: What part of the world is watching!
Erick Von Erich - December 4, 2007 06:21 AM (GMT)
Fans, November was the Greatest Month in the History of Our Website! (For real).
I'm strongly considering merging "music" and "cinema" into one category. Titled "entertainment" (or something snazzier), it would have a ... VIDEO GAMES section. So we'd have music, movies, dvds, and video games as sub-sections of that category. The "TV (on the small screen)" section never took off. I was expecting maybe recaps of weekly shows, but there was no interest.
Also, how do you feel about the blogs going away? You can still keep your blog, obviously, but I see mine as "outlet #4" for when I type something. I don't pay much attention to mine, and it gets no traffic. Roy probably has the best blog on Da' Site... but I don't think he's getting many comments.
"So whatta' ya' think, Sirs?!"
SamoaRowe - December 4, 2007 11:51 AM (GMT)
The merging of movies and music into entertainment is a great idea, I'd fully support that.
I say keep the blogs. They may not be a huge draw to the site, but I enjoy mine (when I actually do update it) and Swiggy puts a lot of effort into his as well (and of course, Roy, which makes me wish I followed soccer).
Big F'N Swigg - December 4, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking we need to focus our blogs. As in Rowe is the ROH blogger, I'm the TNA blogger, Scrooge is the Wrestlecrap blogger, etc. What do you guys think?

Nope. They're up there for you guys to do whatever you feel like. I think any "organizational efforts" will have the exact same fate as DWB/NWA or our "24/7 Reviews" section.
If have no problems with keeping them up there. I might eliminate mine, though. I included them so it's doesn't seem like I'm the Evil Overlord who controls ALL content to the site. Do whatever you want with them. Well, as long as it's legal. If you eventually find a niche, then run with it.
I'll merge the "entertainment" section before January. We might lose a teensy bit of traffic through referrals. But all of the five pages in "music" and "cinema" aren't generating any significant traffic that I can see.

I forgot my blog password, so I'd have to start a new one.

Ahem..you know what would be REALLY cool? If there was some sort of "I Forgot My Password" link on Blogger!
I entered ScroogeMcSuck.blogspot.com and got:

MichaelPowers - December 4, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Just sent in a review of SNME from May of 89. I'll be doing another SNME next, and after that I have no idea.
Erick Von Erich - December 4, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
Great. I'll be adding it, tomorrow.
BTW, to celebrate the new month, we have a NEW BANNER!
Scrooge McSuck - December 5, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
... Oh yeah. Well, on one blog I had the password thing didn't work properly.
I'll be working on more random rasslin' stuff. If I have the time, I want to work on some NBA stuff (I have like 20 classic games taped and various "cool" stuff), including "live" game coverage, if it's good enough. I won't waste my time on a 117-78 shelacking of the Bucks at the hands of the Mavs.
On deck for rasslin' is a random episode of Wrestling Challenge and an old arena card from 1984 (top secret, but for those who have my old tape list, it's not a year I have ass-loads of stuff from). I might start adding to the Monday Night Raw/Nitro section, but I'm not too keen on Nitro since 24/7 edits out certain stuff.
Glad to see Powers is hanging around. The more the merrier. Gives me a chance to breath, since I imploded in November, sending in something like 4 baseball topics, 8-10 rasslin' reviews, and... well, that's it, but that's an ass-load of stuff for someone who hasn't been on in 5 months.
Erick Von Erich - December 5, 2007 06:15 AM (GMT)
We notched 58 unique visitors yesterday (Monday)... because somebody linked to our "Wham! Bam! Bodyslam!" review, via Scott Keith's blog. Took some time for me to find the referring link--- it's some comment in a post about Owen Hart. Another reason I hate blogs.
SO..just what are fans looking for, on the way to our site?! Well, since you asked:
Top 10 Referrals to Da' Site for November 2007
1. da wrestling site
2. angel williams ass
3. da wrestling
4. kerry von erick
5. roh manhattan mayhem
6. dawrestlingsite
7. wrestling moore
8. wwf battle royal at the albert hall
9. 'da wrestling board
10. 24/7 world class wrestling match list
Conclusions: lots of idiots still think it's "Von Erick" and people like Angel Williams' ass (whoever that is... hope it's a female).

Okay, my Blog is back, but considering all my A (and B-list) material goes to Da' Site, my Blog will be bare bones and lame. I don't think my personal life and thoughts will be an interesting read.
Edit: Sent E' my Challenge review. Time to work on something sports related.
SamoaRowe - December 6, 2007 11:07 PM (GMT)
I'm glad to see that Mad Dog has a review on the main site now. The main page is much more balanced now that we have more contributors.
Erick Von Erich - December 7, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
I really dug MP's SNME review. The line about the Mountain Dew Slam of the Night gets me every time.
The web-interface for email has been running slow this week. Stuff like that is usually resolved in about a week. In the meantime, if you need to access your email much more quickly, PM me and I can send you a reliable third-party link for doing so.
Mad Dog - December 8, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
I got the 4-13 World Championship Wrestling show done. I'm going to shoot for having 4-20 done by Monday. I'll slow down on this but I'm just going to build a nice little backlog of reviews for the site.
Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 08:38 PM (GMT)
Hey, I'm glad I read this thread! I LOVE reading reviews of wrestling shows/tapes and I thought what showed up under the wrestling seciton on DWS was it. Now I know there might be more reviews in the blog section. Maybe you should mention that on the wrestling page there so other people know to look at the blogs for more reviews as well?
When I see a "wrestling section" and a "blog" section, I assume the blos will have nothing to do with wrestling since they're listed separately so in case anyone else makes that mistake, you may want to set them right. :)
This may not be the right place to -ask- for feedback but I will. I don't know the protocol around here and I would prefer not to tick people off if I can help it--is my signature too big and should I remove the link to my board in my sig? I don't want to be on the wrong side of anyone. :)
Darryl The Hitman - December 8, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
Another minor thought/question--is there a specific section for new members such as myself to introduce ourselvesto the rest of the board?
Mad Dog - December 8, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
Is there any format type things you want for my reviews. Like match history or match thoughts divided into a different section?
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 02:28 AM (GMT)
You mean me personally? I've been reading through a bunch of the reviews and my favorites ones are the ones with the sections (including Why'd You Record This?) and with lots of opinion scattered throughout (I nearly spit out my drink last night when I read the one about Honky Tonk Man throwing his stash of cocaine at Warrior and him STILL no-selling it). Basically, I like when it's more than just straight play-by=play. Straight PBP is acuurate but not very mentally flavorful to read, n'est-ce pas? :)
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 03:49 AM (GMT)
Ok, I went back to look at some more reviews and I was mixing your reviews up with EvE's. Sorry, mad Dog (were you a big Buzz Sawyer fan?). When I read interviews, I don't usually stop to look who wrote them.
I read your 4/13/85 WCW (Crockett Version) review and I enjoyed it. Ideally, I like that, plus humor/sarcasm/downright bloody snideness mixed into the recap itself. Of course, I am but on person so you shouldn't gear your recaps to me alone but nobody else has offered you any feedback yet that I can see. :)

Signature is too big. Ideally, I think people should keep their signatues to a MAX of 150 pixels in HEIGHT. Some folks around here still haven't figured this out. Height means: "how tall it is". Top to bottom.
WMD and Rowe have decent signatures. They get it. I like Scrooge, but his signature absolutely drives me bat-shit. THere am place for funny images YoU Find on Internets. It called: "You Computer"
I set my preferences to always view the board with signatures and stuff turned off.
MD: I think your review format's fine. I like how you have the "Roll Call of Champions" at the top of every column. I'd say keep that.
SamoaRowe - December 9, 2007 05:09 AM (GMT)
Well, it was EvE who made my signature, so of course he likes it ;).
Check out my recent ECW review, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to check out the show too (it's posted at WWE.com). I enjoyed it, without a hint of sarcasm this time.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
Ok, I'll change my signature shortly then. Thank you for the feedback, eVe (or is it EvE?).
SamoaRowe - December 9, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
Maybe it's supposed to be "eVe" but I'm still getting used to calling him something other than "ES."
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
I just don't like spelling it eve or EVE as I feel like I'm calling him a girl. :)
I hope my signature is better now?
Mad Dog - December 9, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
I'm going to add match history to the next review. As guys start coming and going I want people to know the comings and goings of the wrestlers. Also the roll call of champions is to help out since most of the title changes won't be on television.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:26 AM (GMT)
I don't know how difficult this would be so ignore it if it would be too much work but would it be possible to add pictures of the more obscure wrestlers? Everyone knows who Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes are but as we never got the NWA in my part of Canada, I don't know what Thunderbolt Patterson looks like, for example.
Mad Dog - December 9, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)

Probably not. I could easily get pictures of all the guys but throwing that into a review is a tough thing to do and keep it looking decent. I could run a comment thread with pictures or link to pictures.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
Thank you for that, Mad Dog! yeah, I didn't want to create too much work but it would be good for those wrestlers that history forgets. I have heard TP's anme foten but never knew anything about him really.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
Oh dear lord--as you've noticed, I can spell but my fingers can't. :(
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 05:42 AM (GMT)
AH! I don't like that member title! Hope I can change it now...
ProjectSelfRevolution - December 9, 2007 06:13 AM (GMT)
And I've sent in my next review...
Erick Von Erich - December 9, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
Okay, Darryl enlightened me on how to enable the "doHTML" function. You'll probably see a new button, up top, in each reply. Below font size, quote, etc.
Don't get too crazy with this. It basically means you can embed YouTube videos and other stuff. For posting images and what not, I still strongly recommend using the old IMG button.
I'll be adidng PSR"s review tonight (sunday). Plus I've got the latest World Class recap on tap... and more to come! Don't go away!!
Mad Dog - December 9, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
I'm planning to finish the 4-20 World Championship Wrestling today. I'm about 3/4 of the way done.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
yes, don't bother using it for images but for videos, it can't be beat!
I have more goodies I'll be happy to pass along and then I have a wee favor to ask EvE. :)
Nothing major--just a couple of banners I hope he might be able to make for my board, that's all. :)
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 08:42 PM (GMT)
Did you enable the DoHTML in every forum, Erick?
Erick Von Erich - December 9, 2007 08:47 PM (GMT)
Yup...should be in every forum. If you find one where it's not enabled, lemme' know.
Again...you need to be VERY careful about what you embed. If you're not sure exactly WHAT to copy from any given page, then you probably shouldn't use the doHTML function.
Darryl The Hitman - December 9, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
yeah, I recommedn using PREVIEW Post before using it if you're not sure. If the page crashes, DON'T POST IT!
