Looks to be a legitimate story, so far. For you young'uns: he was the lead singer of Quiet Riot. The "funny lookin' guy with the receeding hairline". Always thought it funny that the older he got, his hairline appeared to GROW. Wig, you say?!

Had a reputation for partying hard in the mid 80's. Kinda' sad that the song he's best known for is a cover. Although "(Bang Your Head) Metal Health" was an anthem in 1983/1984.

Quiet Riot Lead Singer Kevin Dubrow Dies

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Kevin Dubrow, lead singer for the 1980s heavy metal band Quiet Riot that scored a hit with "Cum on Feel the Noize," was found dead in a Las Vegas home. He was 52. The cause was not immediately known.

A neighbor summoned police and paramedics Sunday to the house where he was pronounced dead, police and coroner's officials said.

There was no forced entry, and no suspicious circumstances were reported, police Officer Jose Montoya said Monday.

Quiet Riot was perhaps best known for its 1983 cover of "Cum on Feel the Noize." The song, featuring Dubrow's powerful, gravelly voice, appeared on the band's album "Metal Health" — which was the first by a metal band to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart.

DuBrow recorded his first solo album in 2004, "In for the Kill," and the band's last studio CD, "Rehab," came out in October 2006.

"I can't even find words to say," Quiet Riot drummer Frank Banali wrote on his Web site. "Please respect my privacy as I mourn the passing and honor the memory of my dearest friend Kevin DuBrow."

Determination of the cause of death was pending an autopsy and toxicology results, Clark County coroner's spokeswoman Samantha Charles said.

That sucks. Sounds kind of fishy to me.

Fuck what ya heard, QR is fucking KILLER!

Being 52 and in Vegas is ALWAYS fishy.

The album "Metal Health" was huge. From what I understand, Randy Rhoads was responsible for most of the stuff on that album.

But overall, Quiet Riot's catalog kinda' sucks. The albums "Condition Critical", "QR3" and the 1988 "Quiet Riot" were all stinkers (although DuBrow wasn't on that last one). Name a Quiet Riot song outside of "Metal Health" and "Cum on Feel the Noize" (without using Wikipedia). I'll wait.

Sounds like I'm ragging them, but make no mistake: their success did ALOT for the entire metal genre. You can't help but mark out a little when you hear those first drum beats of "Noize". Even when it was in a microwave french fry commercial

EDIT: Depending on what you consider "heavy metal", they were not the first band to have a #1 album. AC/DC did it in 1981 and Led Zeppelin had a bunch in the 70's. Those aren't the first bands I think of when I think "metal".

Slave to Love.

That's right...I'm cool as fuck.

They are extremely important because what they accomplished, not because of their music. I would also probably consider them the first Heavy Metal band to do what they did because I wouldn't consider Zeppelin or ACDC Heavy Metal.

I guess I'm going to have to whip out my Quiet Riot record and re-acquaint myself.
