Title: OAO The Office Season 4 Thread

eStragand - October 1, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
Hey..it's back! Forgot to post about it on Friday, due to my massive baseball boner. But here it is. Talk amongst yourselves.

I think it didn't fool anyone that this wasn't a "special one hour" episode, just two thrown together. Michael's "Fun Run" didn't become an issue until the half-hour mark. Plus, the Jim/Pam caught-on-video thing was more fitted for an episode-ending segment.

Maybe it's because I'm not in mid-season Office mode, but I wasn't as into this episode as I thought I would be. I thought Andy's bloody nipple-chaffing was ridiculous. I was also a little disappointed with Creed's lines in the hospital ("what kind of drugs"). Seemed stupid and I'm usually a huge Creed mark.

But there were some little things I liked. Such as Kevin wanting to "knuckle" Meredith in the hospital bed.

I think they still have the "Summer recap" snippet on NBC.com or OnDemand. For me, Stanley absolutely steals the show in that clip.

God...I hate working Thursdays. Not only do I miss this, but also the second best show on television in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia...

I gotta wait for this to show up online.

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 1, 2007 03:31 AM (GMT)
It had it moments but it wasn't all that great like you said. I personally thought it was hilarious when Michael was given the lamp like a trophy at the end of the "Fun Run."

I hope this next one hour show is gonna be better.

Right here.

You'll never miss an episode again.

Oh, that's not me. That's just a website I use to download a bunch of old TV shows. But its pretty regularly updated. So hopefully you won't miss too much.

Sure. Anything I can do to promote piracy and help propagate copyright infringment.

Oh, and to help out my fellow board members......, of course.

eStragand - October 1, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
I don't think it's necessarily copyright infringement, since a good portion of those movies have low or poor picture quality. Watching a moving in a Flash player on your computer isn't like owning the DVD box set. As long as you don't download those movies and burn them to a disc. And if you did that, you'd have a buncha' shity discs with shitty video quality. So in this case, you're looking and not touching.

That site's really just a well-updated list of links oo other video sites, like YouTube and what not. I've been watching some of the old "Mighty Thor" cartoons from the 60's, on there. Plus the MASH episode, "The Korean Doctor", just to see Larry Hama on-screen.

I don't know. A lot of the videos that fall under the Stage6 umbrella are of very high quality. And they're easy to download. But, whatever.

eStragand - October 5, 2007 05:40 AM (GMT)
Once again, just an okay show, but not great. I mean, driving into a lake was the big gag? Just blatantly stupid.

I liked the emegence of "Evil Toby", though. It'll give them more to do with his character, instead of just being slammed by Michael every week.

Also like how Andy's slowly going back to his old self. Trying to riff on Ryan when he had NO idea what it was about and, more importantly, the return of "Tuna" as Jim's nickname. Awesome that Kevin seemed to be his tag team partner, too. "Guess who's now the most eligible bachelor in the office?"

Jim's website was awesome, too. "Coming Christmas 2002!" I was tempted to make that the temporary home page on Da' Site for 12 hours.

Oh yeah, I fell for NBC's trap and watched "30 Rock" in between "Earl" and "The Office". I...don't like that show. At all.

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 5, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
I gotta say it was pretty meh. I didn't really enjoy anything about the show and wanted to play Madden numerous times throughout.

Ryan's real asshole persona was cool though. Wanted to punch him in the face a few times.

The shows better start getting funnier or I shall be pissed.

eStragand - October 5, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Not a hilarious moment, but I found it funny that Ryan twisted around his email to Karen from last season to make it sound like SHE asked HIM out. I think it was the episode where all the guys were lounging around in the women's bathroom.

Oh, didja' catch the cheesy Dunder-Mifflin commercial?

Two websites, the first you have to register for (boo, NBC!!!), but you can get around it:

http://www.dundermifflininfinity.com/faq

and (probably the better of the two):

http://www.dundermifflinpaper.biz/

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 5, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Yeah... I saw the commerical. That was a bit funny.

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 12, 2007 02:57 AM (GMT)
I thought it was gold tonight. The way Michael kidnapped the pizza boy without realizing it at the time was typical of him but it was grand.

Dwight thinking the computer was a great gag for the first half of the show.

Andy REALLY annoys the hell out of me.

But it was a step up from the first two weeks IMO. It was a barrel full of laughs.

eStragand - October 12, 2007 05:45 AM (GMT)
Oh poo...I KNEW there was something I wanted to watch on network TV tonight! Dang ol' Rockies, man.

But that TV site Tempest found is there for me! (I hope)

Big F'N Swigg - October 12, 2007 06:30 PM (GMT)
I agree. This week was a marked improvement. Jim taking the pizza cracked me up. I loved Dwight thinking the computer was alive, and trying to beat it in sales.

Will you sign my cast?

eStragand - October 13, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
Ayup, definitely better than the first two episodes. The opening cast gag had me busting up.

Seemed more natural this episode, too. Nothing was too over the top. Michael even realized he was being an idiot for once. Then for him to go to New York and get a small dose of validation from some random employe... heh, that's why he'll be inspired to do more outlandish shit. Plus another nod to his man-crush on Ryan.

Got a chuckle out of Darrell's little pick-up line on Kelly, too. Plus Ryan being kicked out of the corner office for his interview. Good episode all around.

eStragand - October 19, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
10/18/07: they seemed to break the documentary mold by following the characters outside of the office. Funny how the slacker kids at the telemarketing gig all loved Michael. He's just a big immature kid.

"What's this: Amazon- $120?"
"Oh, that's the Muppet Show DVD!"

Aside from Dwight's Moose Sob, the stuff at the farm wasn't funny at all. But nice to see that Jim and Pam kinda' care about Dwight.

But the part that had me dying was the Ryan-Darrell-Kelly face-off.

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 19, 2007 05:22 AM (GMT)
I thought it was crap tonight and nothing else. Numerous times I was thinking why in the hell was I watching this.

An hour of my life I'll never get back.

Big F'N Swigg - October 19, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
I got a kick out of Andy giving Angela the "feral barn cat" Dwight brought a few weeks ago.

And the discussion between Jan and Michael about her boob job was hilarious

Ahhhh....yeah. I didn't notice that. Was it "Garbage"? The same cat that Dwight tried to give her?

Damn, now I really feel bad for Dwight: the same tactics he tried are working for the air-headed Andy. Hopefully they can get back to the Andy/Dwight rivalry that made for alot of fun last year.

Big F'N Swigg - October 19, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
Yup, that was garbage of "I don't want Garbage, I want Sprinkles!" fame.

Just to let you know TV-Links has officially been shut down. So, for anyone who needs to get there Office fix, you can still go here.

Poop! Just when I was getting into that site! I was watching alot of "Office", "Heroes", "Thor" and "Avengers" on there (the limey show with Mrs. Peel, not the Marvel group).

Oh well, it's like plugging a dam-- they can stop one leak, but another will appear.

Big F'N Swigg - October 26, 2007 06:43 PM (GMT)
So I really liked yesterday's episode

ProjectSelfRevolution - October 26, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)
It wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it.

eStragand - November 2, 2007 05:22 AM (GMT)
The last two episodes (the commercial and the pantie raid in Utica) have been a good return to form.

Ya' gotta' like Jim, but I thought it was nice that, for once, he wasn't the "Mr. Cool" of every situation. He had apparently been playing Dwight's simulation game on his own, for awhile. Heh. In Utica, he didn't exactly walk away unscathed from his meeting with Karen.

Michael's "SurvivorMan" adventure was humorous if you've seen the actual show. Especially the stuff where he said "it's been a few hours since I've eaten and I'm starting to feel it. Need to look for some nourishment". A good parody, so I'm wondering if it went over well with anyone who hasn't seen "SurvivorMan".

Best part was the ending, where Jim realized that he's on the track to becoming Michael.

BTW, "My Name is Earl" has been removed from my weekly watch list. Just becoming too slapstick and goofy. Plus it's been full of guest spots from washed-out sitcom stars: Craig T. Nelson, the guy from "War at Home", the guys from "Yes, Dear". So I'll probably just watch "The Office" replay on NBC's website from now on.

I agree about My Name Is Earl. I used to like it more than The Office, but it's lost it's humorous edge this season.

eStragand - November 9, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
Same here. I only started watching "The Office" because it was on after "Earl", but now I'm not going out of my way to catch it, or even looking forward to it. That's a sign that I like a show, when I'm sitting at work and think to myself: "oh! That Show is on tonight! Right on!" I used to get fired up for it, but now, nothing.

"Earl" is on the way to becoming the Family Guy of sitcoms....and that's NOT a compliment. Randy's stupidity used to seem plausible, but now it's just too over-the-top. All the other characters are becoming goofy caricatures instead of the quirky rednecks they started out as. Now it seems that everybody on the show is a complete imbecile. Their COPS episode from last week was pure crap; I liked it better when it was "Reno 911".

I think the last good episode of "Earl" was when he got a job at the appliance store and they paralleled the film "Rudy"--- complete with Sean Astin and Charles S. Dutton.

Big F'N Swigg - November 9, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
I think the Joy kidnapping was the start of the downhill slide for the show. It led to Earl in jail, and it also messed up all the positive momentum the show was getting. Like Earl getting a job and a girlfriend.

Big F'N Swigg - November 16, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
Last night's Office was amazing (That's what she said), and even Earl picked up a bit.

Erick Von Erich - November 17, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
Who was Dwight playing, at the end of the show? Was it Moze, his cousin?

ProjectSelfRevolution - November 17, 2007 12:38 AM (GMT)
I think it was. The beard looked like his anyways.

Erick Von Erich - April 11, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
Hey... watched it for the first time, last night, since its return.

Really pushed the gimmick of the series by having it set, almost entirely, in Michael's condo. More like a conventional sitcom, but still funny. Dug Michael's bed and the way he tried to hide the video camera set-up.

Erick Von Erich - June 27, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
FINALLY watched the season finale, last night; "Goodbye, Toby".

Kevin's had some funny spots over the years, but he stole the comedy spotlight in the finale.

"I am SO going to bang Holly!"

Metrodome - June 27, 2008 06:44 PM (GMT)
Man, I am still way fucking behind on this show. If only DVD sets weren't so goddamn expensive...

Erick Von Erich - June 27, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
I've been catching up on Hulu.com. Legal, excellent UI and a great video quality.
