Man, that looks incredible. Maybe this "new" NWA could work out afterall?

Ten bucks for just the wrestling show.

I'd buy a DVD of that no problem. That's a great lineup of indy talent and a lot better than what RoH has been throwing out there for awhile now.

I'd be all over that.

Really, the only weak link on that card is Chance Prophet vs. Chris Escobar and even that match would probably be ** range. But there are 3 legit great potential matches there in Albright/Castognoli, Danielson/Denny and Blaze/Rocker/Old School Empire.
whitemilesdavis - July 25, 2007 11:29 AM (GMT)
Plus a Damien Wayne match which will always be worth your time. I don't mind the Escobar match, because I've wanted to see him for a while but haven't had the chance, so I'm even pumped about that.
Umm yeah, this is gonna be fun.

This is a company that could get me back into wrestling. Is this the same company that had worked out some sort of national DVD deal or something? I'd love to pick this show up at a Best Buy or something in a few months...
whitemilesdavis - July 25, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
Yes, the is the same NWA. If this becomes more than a one-off show, I'll be majorly impressed.
Big F'N Swigg - July 26, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)
I could see them letting the territories run their usual shows, and then running the "Supercards" at conventions for taping and putting on DVD. It's a good idea, really
whitemilesdavis - July 26, 2007 01:10 PM (GMT)
Yeah, and if they actualyy have a way to somehow link the territories it would help.
Real F'n Show - July 30, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
This is almost ROH meets NWA-VA, which is exactly what I've been looking for in a company.
Who's the Old School Empire again? I'm remembering possibly Preston Quinn (as Masked Superstar) and someone else?

Ah, that's it. I bet that tag will steal the show.

So I went to this show last night. It was alright. Crowd sucked, but the wrestlers seemed to be working hard.

How many people do you think were there?

Best match? Worst match? I'll probably pick the show up if it sounds good...

A couple hundred I guess? It was in a Hilton ballroom, and all but two or thee seats were full. It was just an ultra smark crowd. Mostly indy workers who sat their and critiqued the guys all night.

Best match was definitely Albright / Castignoli. Claudio seemed to gas a bit towards the end but it was one heck of a match. Never thought too much about Albright til last night. He's one of the better "heavyweight style" workers out there.
It was a real treat seeing Danielson live for the first time, too. The match was pretty much a long squash with Denny getting a surprise pin at the end. I didn't understand Denny going over, but it was fun to watch and had the most crowd heat of the night.
It's hard to explain just how good Damien Wayne is. A lot of what he brings is so subtle, yet you can't help but get wrapped up in what he's doing. Pharoah was surprisingly solid too. Those too really went all out and got the crowd going.
The tag was a bit of a disapointment for me. I thought Rocker and Quinn both looked strong, but the match just didn't come together. GREAT ending though. Preston Quinn just flat out punched the Scotty's valet in the face. She goes down in a heap while Blaze comes to protect her, leaving Rocker to take the loss. Then some chick at Ringside starts going off on OSE and I start realizing it's freakin Baby Doll. She got a big Baby Doll chant from the crowd, and it was just a neat little twist.
Hmm, let's see...Quack vs. Parham was OK. Quack is great, and Parham has potential, but he needs a little refining. Escobar / Prophet wasn't bad either and Prophet has a strong finisher that got a big pop.
3 "dark matches" Maliki vs. Josh Magnum was very very good. You will hear alot about both these guys in a year or two. Gluteus Mixmus vs. Ace Montana sucked. Buff Bagwell vs. Lodi wasn't as bad as it sounds.
I'll also mention I've never met a nicer guy than Claudio. Danielson was overly friendly too. All in all I'd say definitely get the DVD. I'll pick it up for sure. Hopefully they'll fix the crowd for the release.
