Last Week: The show ended with Ted Dibiase surviving just long enough to run out the time limit and earn a draw after Paul Orndorff managed to turn his Figure-Four Leglock against him. Join us this week as Dibiase and Orndorff continue their battle over Mid-South's biggest prize the North American Heavyweight Championship.
Hosts are Boyd Pearce & Ted Dibiase
from the Irish McNiel Boys Club (Shreveport, LA)
Pearce and Dibiase open the show up. Pearce asks Dibiase what his reaction is to last week's match. Dibiase gives them credit for finding a counter but says he won't give up to Orndorff and would rather have his leg broken than to submit.
Tom Renesto Jr. vs. Brian Blair
Match History: Brian Blair earned a win over the Monk to open last week's show. Tom Renesto Jr. fell to King Cobra in a less than impressive showing.

Blair hits an elbow off the top rope for a two count. Blair hits a vertical suplex and then trips while dragging Renesto across the ring. Opps. Blair applies a figure-four leglock to earn a submission win. Nothing match with Blair just doing the same stuff over and over again. Not a great start for the show.
WINNER: Brian Blair
Paul Ellering is in the ring for an interview. He's back from his injury and bigger and better than ever. He issues a challenge to the Iron Sheik to take the Perisian Club Challenge. He's got a lovely lady out there and she could use $1000.
Paul Ellering vs. Don Serrano
Match History: This is Ellering's return from an injury. As far as these reviews go these guys are just debuting.
Serrano wants a handshake but Ellering blows him off. They trade hammerlocks but Ellering gets into the ropes. Ellering gets a front face lock but Serrano grabs a hammerlock. WINNER: Paul Ellering
Mike Bowyer vs. Junkyard Dog
Match History: Bowyer looks like a mix between a zombie and Frankenstein. He's a fugly fugly man. JYD of course won last week in a matter of seconds. The JYD also comes out with the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion by defeating the Great Kabuki.
They exchange blows in the corner and the JYD gets the advantage. JYD gets a snapmare and then drops a fist on Bowyer's face. Bowyer gets a punch to the gut but then gets a headbutt from the JYD. Energetic but nothing special.
WINNER: Junkyard Dog
Paul Orndorff and Bob Orton Jr. vs. Carlos Zapata and the Monk
Match History: Paul Orndorff has found a counter to Dibiase's signature move the Figure-Four Leglock. He turned the move against Dibiase last week but it wasn't enough to earn him more than a time limit draw. Orton was last seen a few weeks ago as he successfully retained his Mississippi Heavyweight Championship against Jim Garvin. The Monk lost to Brian Blair last week and Zapata is a newcomer as far as these reviews go.
Orndorgg and Zapata start. Orndorff gets a front face lock and tags Orton in. Orton stomps on Zapata and then hits a bodyslam. Orndorff tags in and hits a knee. Orndorff tags in and hits an elbow to the head as Orton holds the Monk over his shoulder. Orndorff applies the figure-four leglock to get the submission win. Now that was a nice little squash match there. ** easy for the energy of Orndorff and Orton.
WINNERS: Paul Orndorff and Bob Orton Jr.
Bob Roop vs. Mike George
Match History: Bob Roop is in on trying to bring down Ted Dibiase. He's been working with Orndorff on countering the Figure-Four Leglock and at this point it appears they have one. George is one half of the Mid-South Tag Team Champions with the JYD and picked up an easy tag team win last week.
Lock up is a stalemate. George gets a waistlock takedown but Roop gets to the ropes. George gets a headlock but Roop escapes with an elbow. Roop gets a full nelson but George powers out. George hits a series of punches after getting back into the ring. Roop smashes George into the corner and hits a running knee. Roop pulls George away from the ropes and covers for a three count. Very nice match there. I'd say a solid **3/4. Nice length and good energy.
WINNER: Bob Roop
Ed Wiskowski vs. Mike Bond
Match History: Wiskowski got a win over Jim Garvin last week.
Ed gets a hiptoss and then abuses Bond with his superior power. Ed hits a big bodyslam and stomps on the smaller Bond. Ed slams Bond face first into the mat a couple of times. Ed rams Bond into the corner and then further beats on him. Ed gets another bodyslam and does a splash on Bond's back. Backbreaker gets the win for Ed. Yeah, too short to be anything. Just a power display for Ed.
WINNER: Ed Wiskowski
We're back with the $1000 Persian Club Challenge. The Challenge is basically that the Iron Sheik says that he can do double the swings with the clubs that any other athlete can. If he can't he'll forfeit the $1000. Paul Ellering manages to get off 50 swings with the clubs before stopping. Skandar Akbar says they're here to wrestle and his man will take the challenge after their match with Frank Monte.
The Iron Sheik vs. Frank Monte
Match History: Iron Sheik is 2-0 with some fairly dominating wins so far during these reviews. Monte teamed with Blair during the first review but that match was never resolved on tv. I have a feeling we're not seeing the Sheik do the clubs until next week.
Sheik pounds away at Monte to start. Sheik hits an elbow and further abuses Monte. Sheik tosses Monte into the ropes and rams him with his head. Sheik hits a bodyslam and goes back to the beating. Sheik tosses Monte to the outside. Back into the ring as Sheik gets a bear hug. Monte escapes with an arm clap. Sheik regains control and throws Monte into the ropes. Monte catches Sheik with a boot and goes to town with a series of forearms. Monte tosses the Sheik and hits a shoulder block. Sheik rams Monte into the corner and hits the belly to back suplex for the win. Short but fun. Sheik really had a lot of energy for this short squash matches.
WINNER: Iron Sheik
Skandar Akbar gets on the mic and says his man was just through a tough match and it's not fair to have him do the challenge now. Akbar stalls until the show ends. Well there's always next week I guess. Here's next week's card:
Jerry Novak & Ricky Ferrara vs. Mike George & Carlos Zapata
“Precious” Paul Ellering & The Iron Shiek $1000.00 Persian Club Challenge
Brian Blair vs. Paul Orndorff
Ted Dibiase vs. Mike Bowyer
Mike Bond & Frank Monte vs. Bob Roop & Bob Orton Jr.
Tommy Renesto Jr. vs. Ed Wiskowski
Don Serrano vs. The Iron Sheik
Final Thoughts:
Kind of a meh show this week. First half utterly sucked as the matches were boring. Second half really picked up with some solid action from the usual suspects. The angle with Ellering and the Iron Sheik was well done and I look forward to see how it plays out next week. Until then I guess.
So is there anything you'd like added to these. I know the match history deal is pretty basic so far but I need time for angle development and such for it to really have more meat.
