Title: Crappy eBay purchases...

Scrooge McSuck - March 15, 2007 02:00 AM (GMT)
I forgot how much crap you could find on eBay (Jeff Weaver anyone?), but for now, I need to pad out my collection of crappy video games.

So far, I've won bids on Star Wars: Bounty Hunter for the PS2 ($9.55 w/ S&H)), ESPN Baseball Tonight for Genesis ($4.99) since it was cheap, and Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose for SNES (complete) since Nintendo Power sold me on it from their Flashback article.

I have a few more items to win, but won't mention them in fear someone hear will want the crap too. :P

Edit: I got screwed on ESB, because some jerk-ass jacked the bid up at the last minute. Probably the seller.

SamoaRowe - March 15, 2007 02:10 PM (GMT)
That Tiny Toons game should really show up on the Wii Virtual Console.

I haven't bought anything off of E-bay, but I had to laugh at the sucker who paid a couple grand for a PS3, but didn't read the seller's post close enough and actually bought three PS1's.

Scrooge McSuck - March 15, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
... AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!

S.T. Strickler - March 15, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
Buster Busts Loose is one of the coolest games I've played. Definitely liked the football level.

Scrooge McSuck - March 16, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
The Tiny Toon games from that era were definitely some underrated good-ness. Once the "next" generation consoles came out, Tiny Toons turned into educational games, like The Great Beanstalk adventure, and other PSone titles.

I'm sorry, WHAT?

Scrooge McSuck - March 16, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
Yes, we demand details Rowe! You fuckin' tease!

SamoaRowe - March 16, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Back then the PS3 was first launched and people were dropping thousands to get one off of E-Bay, one person put up for sale three Playstation 1 consoles. He worded it in such a way that it looked like he was selling the new PS3. As a result, someone bought these three Playstation 1's for a couple thousand and then was probably horrified to find the three PS1's arrive instead of a PS3.

That is the cruelest thing I could ever think of

SamoaRowe - March 16, 2007 10:09 PM (GMT)
I feel little sympathy for anyone who felt they needed a PS3 that badly that they'd shell out far more than the retail price for one on e-bay, especially when they were in regular supply within months.

Big F'N Swigg - March 16, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
that's very true

Scrooge McSuck - March 16, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
And the first models usually have bugs and glitches, too. Is it THAT hard to wait a few months, maybe 6-8, to get a system that's been cleaned out for all potential errors, and when all the best games come out?

SamoaRowe - March 16, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
Evidently.

I didn't kill myself getting a Wii on launch, and waited until it was a little easier in February. I somehow survived, but I had to ::gasp:: play with my still fine PS2.

Real F'n Show - March 17, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
I thought PS2 was still where it's at...?

Scrooge McSuck - March 17, 2007 01:05 PM (GMT)
Since I'm off on a rant... what is the big fucking deal about getting the new systems as soon as possible? Is playing video games giving you a raise? Is it going to get you a better job? Will it make you do better at school?

I seriously doubt any of those can be answered "yes" unless you already have a job producing video games.

That was exactly my point. Besides, the PS2 controller still rumbles, unlike a certain crappy piece of blu-ray playing junk that dropped last November...

... and you're right, Swiggy. The people who camped out for days to get a PS3 just wanted to make a couple of bucks on E-Bay. The people who camped out for days to get a Wii actually wanted the system.

I know I wanted to get my Wii while it was still somewhat affordable for my girlfriend and I to do (ie, before we move into an apartment).

That's a very smart reason to get a system close to launch. I'd never be able to talk my wife into letting me get one until I get a job making at least as much as she does

Tempest - March 18, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
I spent $95 on a carded 12-inch Hasbro Ultimate Warrior talking action figure.

When I got it home, its battery compartment was stuck and I couldn't get it to talk......

:(

eStragand - March 20, 2007 05:21 AM (GMT)
But how are you paying for this junk if you don't have PayPal?! :)

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is actually pretty cool. I got it for Xmas a few years ago and was addicted to it for about six weeks. In a depressing realization of the depths to which I've sunk, I thought that the main evil villain chick was kinda' hot, too.

For other junk on eBay, I know some loser who's selling old comics that were sitting in his closet. So far, the only one that didn't sell was a crappy "Terminator" comic from 1990, which featured two gay cowboys on the cover.

Scrooge McSuck - March 20, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
Eww....

I just won a bid on a bunch of crappy WWF Program issues from the late 80's/early 90's. Nerd, thy name is Scrooge McSuck.

SamoaRowe - March 21, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
I really need to browse through Ebay more...

S.T. Strickler - March 21, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
Over the past few years on Ebay, I've managed to snag some good stuff on there.

- Older issues of Nintendo Power
- Phantasy Star II hint book
- Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
- Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete strategy guide (Playstation version)
- Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete strategy guide (Playstation version)
- Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2

The two Lunar guides I bought were around $20, which was quite the bargain. Usually, they go for at least $100 plus.

Scrooge McSuck - March 21, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
Old issues of Nintendo Power rule!

Now for my ultimate quest... buying old crappy NES game and old crappy Hasbro WWF figures. :P

Hey! Hasbro figures aren't crappy.......

Unless you buy Nailz or something..........

Scrooge McSuck - March 21, 2007 07:42 PM (GMT)
If I did, I'd job him to Vince McMahon. :D

I always wanted a Ludvig Borga, but damn, those are (rare) expensive.

Yeah, and Billy Gunn's never been more expensive, either.

Scrooge McSuck - March 21, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
I could act out Chokeslam Mountain with the Smoking Gunns Hasbros, a Scrooge McDuck toy from McDonalds, and my Jakks Kane figure... plus a cameo of a Tino Martinez card.

That's why you're a master action figure booker, Scrooge.

No, I just rip off ES' ideas.

I'm used to it. I'm the Innovater of Nerdness. People ripped off my Figure League, my Video Game Fantasy Booking, my YouTube Match Reviews, and I'm sure other nerd things I'm used to doing.

But it goes without saying that you're still the best.

Although, your action figure fed had some really odd booking from what I've read.

Casey Jones as a main eventer?

Mufasa going over The Warriror? Wha?

In all seriousness, I'm kidding. :D

SamoaRowe - March 21, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Just for the record, I did video game fantasy booking long before I even knew people kept fantasy booking diaries online in the first place B)

Scrooge McSuck - March 22, 2007 02:12 PM (GMT)
I first did it with SNES Royal Rumble back in 1994.

SamoaRowe - March 22, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
I first did it with WCW vs. nWo: World Tour in 1998.

Scrooge McSuck - March 22, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
See, you stole my idea. Rip-off artist! :D

 Yes, I somehow sensed that a kid in Floriday who I would some day meet on a message board was doing something neat that I wanted to steal.

Scrooge McSuck - March 22, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
... I lived in New York back then. Stupid New Hampsha' bitch!

SamoaRowe - March 22, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
... well... you stole it from the kid in Florida who I stole it from!

Makes perfect sense.

Scrooge McSuck - March 22, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
I'm an originater! I do goofy, childish things, and all you fuckers steal my idea!

Except for ES. He was like 20 before anyone here was born.
