Looks like a lot of people aren't feelin Silvia right now.

Big F'N Swigg - February 27, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
I feel like Couture has a bit more discipline.

whitemilesdavis - February 27, 2007 07:26 PM (GMT)
There is no doubt that Couture is more skilled, disciplined, and pretty much better in every way. Randy's 2 opponents in this fight are age and size.

Which I don't think will be the biggest issue in the fight.

dynamite kido - February 27, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
I don't think they'll be an issue either.

I just think that Couture is a much smarter fighter as well. I don't see Silvia being about to do his thing.

Real F'n Show - February 27, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
We will see.

TehDoct0r - February 27, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
HW Title Fight: Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture- Sylvia, 2nd round, KO
Rich Franklin vs. Jason MacDonald- MacDonald, 2nd round, submission
Jason Lambert vs. Renato Sobral- Sobral, 1st round submission
Chris Lytle vs. Matt Hughes- Hughes, 1st round, submission
Martin Kampmann vs. Drew McFedries- McFedries, 3 round decision

That Franklin fight is just to be different.

Big F'N Swigg - February 27, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
Franklin trains across the street from the bank I worked at in Ohio, so I can't pick him to lose. It'd be like me wanting Kid Kash to lose.

dynamite kido - February 27, 2007 10:17 PM (GMT)
I was thinking of going with MacDonald myself. He's a really good fighter, but I'm thinking that Franklin is going to be on point this time around.

Mad Dog - February 28, 2007 12:49 PM (GMT)
HW Title Fight: Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture - RD5 - split decision
Rich Franklin vs. Jason MacDonald - RD2 - KO
Jason Lambert vs. Renato Sobral - RD1 - submission
Chris Lytle vs. Matt Hughes - RD3 - submission
Martin Kampmann vs. Drew McFedries - RD3 - decision

Real F'n Show - March 1, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
The only fighter that everyone is picking is Hughes. Let's hope this isn't an upset crazy show like Pride 33...(although I do hope Hughes gets the shit kicked out of him)...

dynamite kido - March 1, 2007 11:22 PM (GMT)
Personally I can't stand Hughes, but I see him reaching top form again. In all honesty though, he lost to GSP who is fucking awesome so I doubt that he's dropped off THAT much. He just has to go through the motions to get back to the same position that he was in.

TehDoct0r - March 2, 2007 03:44 AM (GMT)
I think Hughes is gonna come out PISSED and destroy that guy.

And if there's an upset here, it's gonna be how I predicted it... MacDonald over Franklin.

Real F'n Show - March 2, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
By the way, here's the schedule I'm working with...

QUOTE
March 3 - UFC 68
April 7 - UFC 69
April 8 - Pride 34
April 21 - UFC 70

As you can see, there's a big break after this show, but we come back with what I'm planning on doing as a doubleshot thread for the UFC 69/Pride 34 weekend. Then the big UFC 70 show which I think is being held in England. Should be something to look forward to.

I would agree with that actually.

whitemilesdavis - March 2, 2007 01:46 PM (GMT)
The upset is gonna be Couture over Sylvia.

dynamite kido - March 2, 2007 03:36 PM (GMT)
I should have clarified and say besides Couture, it's going to be MacDonald.

Real F'n Show - March 4, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Results:

QUOTE
Lambert defeats Sobral by knockout due to punches at 3:26 of round two.

Hughes defeats Lytle by unanimous decision. All three judges score the bout 30-27 for Hughes.

Franklin defeats MacDonald by technical knockout between rounds two and three, when excessive damage to MacDonald's left eye caused the match to be stopped.

Kampmann defeats McFedries by technical submission (arm triangle choke) at 4:06 of round one.

In the main event of the evening, Randy Couture defeats Tim Sylvia by unanimous judges' decision and becomes the new UFC Heavyweight Champion. All three judges scored the bout 50-45 for Couture. This marks the third time Couture has captured the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and the fifth overall time that Couture has earned a UFC championship title.

Well, I'm not last anymore.

TehDoct0r - March 4, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
I kick ass!

BTW, regardless of which way Sylvia/Couture went, I wouldn't have called it an upset. That initial shot almost had my jaw drop tho, and Sylvia never really recovered.

dynamite kido - March 4, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
So RFS, you shocked about Couture?

Real F'n Show - March 5, 2007 12:18 AM (GMT)
Eh, sorta, but what can I say, you guys knew what you were talking about. I figured if he was going to win it would be by decision, which he did. How long do you give his reign? Will we get Couture/Cro Cop?

Mad Dog - March 5, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
I was torn on that fight. I thought Couture was the better fighter but I felt Sylvia had become good enough at just doing enough to win. All I know is that I'm pissed all the good tickets went so quick and I missed this show.

whitemilesdavis - March 5, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
As much as I like Couture, Cro-cop would kill him dead. They need to protect couture for a couple of fights, then he heeds to retire. I think he proved his point with Sylvia, but there is really nothing else for him in the heavyweight ranks.

dynamite kido - March 5, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
I don't think they'll do Couture/Cro-Cop quite yet. I also agree that Couture would be done. I could actually see them maybe doing a Silvia/Cro-Cop match though.

Real F'n Show - March 5, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
Really anyone they throw at him has no chance at this point. They only fighters in the world I could see beating Cro Cop right now are Fedor and possibly Nogueira. He's scary.

whitemilesdavis - March 5, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
Yeah, agree.

Cro cop / Sylvia would be fun though. I think a lot of people would like to see that murder.

Real F'n Show - March 5, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
I'm salivating.

The sooner they can get the belt on Mirko, the sooner he can become the Fedor of the UFC. And it will be glorious.

TehDoct0r - March 5, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
Couture beats some nobody while Cro Cop murders Arlovski. Then they decide whether or not they want to give Couture another gimme before he's sacrificed on the checkered alter. If they do, they might feed Sylvia to Cro Crop. I'd like that, cause you'd have Cro Cop beating Arlovski, Sylvia, and Couture back to back to back, making the past couple years of UFC heavyweights look like schoolchildren.

Which with how the UFC heavy division's been, is exactly what they need.

Real F'n Show - March 5, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
MMA in general doesn't seem to have the strongest heavyweight division it's ever had. Fedor. Mirko, Nog, and possibly Barnett are probably tops, and 3 of them are in Pride. Light Heavyweight is loaded though.

whitemilesdavis - March 5, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
Somebody on DVDR makes a good point : Couture vs. Crocop could be the best draw in MMA history. Thinking in those terms, maybe UFC should protect both of the guys for a few months, and I mean NO risks. No Arlovski, No Sylvia, nothing. Maybe a cupcake or two along the way, all the while building to the fight between those two.
