SamoaRowe - February 5, 2007 08:53 PM (GMT)
So far it sounds like one of the weaker ppv cards that TNA has done.
Christian/Angle should be good/great.
Sting/Abyss has the chance of being good/great.
Sabin/Lynn should be good.
The rest? Meh. Maybe adding another Styles/Rhino match will help it.
dynamite kido - February 5, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
This is NOT one of their better looking cards for sure. I'll probably watch it, but the top of the card is going to have to carry the show.
Real F'n Show - February 5, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
Great use of Joe here, I'm so glad he's leaving RoH fulltime for more of this.
I haven't watched TNA in ages, so pardon my not knowing what's going on (...although I possibly would not know what's going on even if I DID watch...)

I say Angle wins the belt and feuds with Joe over it. Should be a decent match I'd imagine.
QUOTE
*Sting vs. Abyss - Prison Yard Match
Hopefully Abyss goes over.
QUOTE
*TNA X-Division champion Chris Sabin vs. Jerry Lynn
Again should be decent but nothing special. Sabin by cheating.
QUOTE
*James Storm & Ms. Tennessee vs. Petey Williams & Gail Kim
I have no idea on the backstory for this, nor do I want to know. I'm pretty sure the last time I was watching TNA Gail Kim was with AMW, and Petey was off TV, which is where he should be.

*Basebrawl - Team Eckstein vs. Team Pierzynski
Eckstein via Michael Barrett interference. I wonder if David can do a hurricanrana...

*Christy Hemme's in-ring debut.(OMG *****!!!!!!)
Great.
SamoaRowe - February 5, 2007 10:12 PM (GMT)
My best guess why Joe isn't scheduled to wrestle is because he's had a few health issues lately (nothing in comparison to Angle, who is a walking wreck of a man) but I'm thinking they want him to be in tip top shape for whatever they have in store for him next. You are right, it is a bit depressing to see him booked this way when he's leaving ROH, but after watching Impact last night, I definitly was getting the vibe that they are treating Joe like a top guy.
Real F'n Show - February 5, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
Fair enough. As long as it leads to a fairly lengthy reign with the belt for him it's fine. Didn't know he was battling injuries still.
SamoaRowe - February 5, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
I don't think any of Joe's recent injuries are that serious, but it feels like I keep hearing reports on him on a more regular basis then I am comfortable with. He missed a couple of ROH dates late last year because of it.
Big F'N Swigg - February 8, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
Add Team 3D vs. LAX in a "Little Italy" street fight.
So many gimmick matches. I mean, REALLY, does every match have to have a name or a gimmick?
whitemilesdavis - February 8, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Big F'N Swigg - February 8, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
They've been doing that forever, though. It's not just Russo
eStragand - February 8, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
-I say Joe prevents Angle from winning the belt in some way.
-Does a "prison yard match" involve a sharpened plastic spoon? I think you win by bribing someone (the ref?) with a pack of cigarettes.
-Maybe I'm missing something, but what does "Little Italy" have to with either Team 3D or LAX?
Scrooge McSuck - February 8, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
I think Bubba is really Italian. That's all I got, since it still makes no sense.
dynamite kido - February 8, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
It makes perfect sense.
Russo is booking it. Got it now?
Real F'n Show - February 9, 2007 12:41 AM (GMT)
Where's the "Intergender first team to figure out how this match works gets an aneurysm on a pole match"?!?
dynamite kido - February 9, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)

That's next PPV. Or the next TNA special.
Big F'N Swigg - February 9, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
Add another match:
*Rhino vs. AJ Styles: Motor City Chain Match
jamiegeist - February 9, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
So we have the Motor City Chain Match. The Little Italy Streetfight. The Prison Yard Match. The Basebrawl match.
Seriously. He is really trying to build his own personal wrestlecrap catalog.
dynamite kido - February 9, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
After watching Impact last night I can't even say that I'm excited for this show. They have a few decent things booked, but outside of Angle/Xian I really don't give a shit about the card this go round.
SamoaRowe - February 9, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)
I got bored with Impact about halfway through and turned it off. Which is sad, because you'd think I'd be drooling for Angle/Joe vs. Christian/Styles, but I wasn't, maybe due to feeling like it would go three minutes and not have any sort of finish.
dynamite kido - February 9, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
Although you missed the return of Steiner!
SamoaRowe - February 9, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
Maybe I'll watch the second half hour on Saturday.
Scrooge McSuck - February 9, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
So the only thing worth a real damn is a WWE midcard match for the World Title.
jamiegeist - February 9, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
I was hoping they'd toss Austin Starr v Senshi on here. That match could seriously tear the place up...

Dude, I like Starr and all but he's been severely lackluster in TNA IMO.
jamiegeist - February 9, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
Oh, in TNA, I agree.
Thats true for a whole bunch of people.
Big F'N Swigg - February 10, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
Ok, so not surprisingly, the Motor City Chain Match is a "Chain on a Pole" match.
And man does the Sting/Abyss feud make absolutely no sense
Scrooge McSuck - February 10, 2007 01:21 AM (GMT)
It's Russo... it makes perfect sense. ;)
jamiegeist - February 10, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)
Does Russo know what a self-parody he is?
Seriously, the on a pole thing is like the best joke that he apparantly has no idea about.
Tempest - February 10, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)
Its amazing to think of how quickly TNA's going down the shitter with Russo (back) on the book. Sure, old "Dirty" Dutch Mantell and Dusty Rhodes may book TNA like its still in their day. But at least it made sense........
With the right guy on book (*cough* Cornette *cough*) TNA could be the greatest thing in wrestling since, well, since the last good thing. With the roster depth TNA has its amazing how quickly Russo's been able to fuck up perfect feuds, and great characters.
The stupid cunt...... :(
dynamite kido - February 12, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
Well I watched this PPV last night, and although I hate to say it.....it oozed of Russo booking.
The main was good, although overbooked. Fucking Angle had to play superman and it basically took the kitchen sink for him to lose. Xian hit him with 3 unprettiers and a pipe shot to beat him.
Lynn/Sabin was really good with Sabin finally pulling out some killer heel shit to put the match over.
AJ/Rhino was solid for what it is, but they really need to move this fucking feud along. It's getting old fast, and it feels like they should have blown it off about 82 times by now.
The Little Italy Streetfight was entertaining, yet that's probably because LAX dominated it. Good for them, bad for the match.
Starr/Senshi was good as well. Although I felt like the match was a bit too short.
Sting/Abyss was fucking GOOD. Sting was working his ass off and although their feud should be done, if they can work matches like this I wouldn't mind it continuing.
The mixed tag was just fodder for Harris to return. Yay.
Christie Hemme ended up wresltling Fat Naked Oily Guy in a Tuxedo match........smell the Russo here?
Although in one of the Young/Traci hotel skit's Shelley (who was filming everything) was fucking money. Traci tries arguing with him before Eric gets there and Shelley pulls out the line of the century. "Traci, you slap me and I'll chokeslam you. I swear to god."
whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
From all I've read, it does sound too much like Russo. I hate to jump on the hatewagon, but that's just not the type of show I want to watch. Put to guys in the ring and have them wrestle. I'll watch.
dynamite kido - February 12, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
I'm the same way WMD. Although I found the show entertaining and a lot of it was funny, it's not TNA's gig. They are TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION, which is getting watered down with Russo there doing his schtick.
I had a friend of mine call me over the weekend who watches wrestling but isn't a net fan. We were talking about TNA and he says, "Dude, I've been watching TNA lately and it's getting bad. I swear it seems like Russo is booking it." So basically he didn't know who was booking it and he could tell it was Russo's doing.
whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
Funny thing is, tonight they are running TNA's 5 best matches in place of RAW, and it will probably be awesome. Then people tune in next week to see that they don't actually wrestle on Impact.

I was thinking the same thing since they announced what the special will be.
Big F'N Swigg - February 12, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
You know, I could have liked that PPV, but Don West said it best at the end of the show "This is a bunch of crap!"
Only 1 clean ending for the whole show, and it was a "Put your opponent in a ___" gimmick match, so it's almost impossible to get a dirty finish. Somehow, I was still surprised it ended clean.
The only saving grace of the show was Lynn vs. Sabin, and Styles vs. Rhino. That's pretty much it
whitemilesdavis - February 13, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
I'm seeing mostly good reviews for Angle / Christian. You didn't like that?
Big F'N Swigg - February 13, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
It was ok, but Lynn vs. Sabin outdid it. I was actually impressed with Kurt Angle's style, as he's brought some shoulder tosses, etc, to his repertoire that actually made the match feel a bit more realistic. I really think the ending, with all the run ins killed it for me, though. Otherwise it was good.
