Title: OAO ECW Thread 2007

Mad Dog - February 2, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)

S.T. Strickler - February 7, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
I'm hoping they go somewhere with this "Originals vs. New Breed" storyline. Maybe something for WrestleMania. Hoping for War Games, but that's doubtful.

SamoaRowe - February 7, 2007 04:41 PM (GMT)
I'm actually a bit annoyed that I missed ECW last night. It sounded pretty good and the New Breed vs. Originals feud has my attention (even if it only leads to the ultimate burial of the Originals).

dynamite kido - February 7, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
You didn't miss anything last night.

Big F'N Swigg - February 7, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Unless of course you want to see how the creative team can botch the easiest type of booking there is

Mad Dog - February 7, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
That show bored the hell out of me last night. It was almost as bad as the second episode of WSX.

Big F'N Swigg - February 7, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
I forgot to add that Snitsky debuted. BALD

Good lord, he's hideous. His old look was goofy bad-ass, but now he just looks stupid.

eStragand - February 7, 2007 07:04 PM (GMT)
I didn't miss anything?!! Oh goody. I was living in regret that this might have been the week that Kelly Kelly Kelly bared all. Whew! I'll zip it back up and save it for next week.

dynamite kido - February 7, 2007 07:04 PM (GMT)
I also thought it was funny that they had a vignette saying that Snitsky was coming, yet he shows up later in the show. UGH.

S.T. Strickler - February 7, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
He looks like the ugly brother of Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.

dynamite kido - February 8, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
Wow. Apparently the Wrestling Observer is reporting that ECW is pretty much dead in the water.

Vince is using ECW to try and attempt to get Lashley over as a superstar who eventually can more to another brand and basically be a maineventer. Once the TV deal with Sci-Fi is over.....apparently so will ECW.

Real F'n Show - February 9, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
I can't say I'm disappointed...

SamoaRowe - February 9, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was basically clamoring for this brand to shut down a couple of months ago. Just because I mildly enjoyed last week's episode has not changed my mind.

dynamite kido - February 9, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
Well I hate to say it.....but it was almost doomed from the beginning.

It was never what people wanted.

It's a wrestling brand with two PPV's every year.

They never actually do anything with the TV show.

They do repetitive matches consistantly to the point where the roster has been exhausted.

Bye bye WWECW.

Real F'n Show - February 9, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
As long as they keep the one bright spot of the promotion (Punk) and move him to one of the other shows I could care less.

Scrooge McSuck - February 10, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)
Remember who said a ECW brand was an awful idea to begin with?

Me! I just warmed up to the fact it was Velocity Jr.

It was a great idea. Too bad they buried it.

Scrooge McSuck - February 10, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
A great idea if your name isn't Vince McMahon and you can't stand people liking someone elses' idea more than your own.

dynamite kido - February 12, 2007 04:48 PM (GMT)
Apparently Test has been suspended due to the "Wellness policy".

ECW is totally fucked now.

[/sarcasm]

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
What are they doing with Montaviuous...errr...Montvac...

What are they doing with Monty Brown on ECW? Is he getting over at all?

dynamite kido - February 12, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Marcus Cor Von (aka Monty Brown) is doing well since joining ECW.

His promo's seem to be better and not as goofy too.

I'm assuming that he's getting over at least a bit.

SamoaRowe - February 12, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
It took them this long to catch on about Test? Sheesh.

And if anything, ECW is probably better off without him for the time being. Test hasn't been doing too well.

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
Test has always sucked. He just fits Vince's body fetish.

Damn straight.

Mad Dog - February 12, 2007 05:43 PM (GMT)
That's not totally fair to Test. He certainly didn't suck in 99 and 00. He sucks now but he did have some talent and was really over at one point. Getting no kind of revenge on HHH ruined him forever.

I think it's fair. I've actually went back and watched Test shit from that era.

He sucks morbidly.

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
The only time I've found him moderately entertaining was the angle with Steph and HHH, and still, I hated to watch him wrestle.

Big F'N Swigg - February 12, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed his stuff with Steiner. But then Steiner was released and he was back to sucking

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
I love Steiner, and I even hated his stuff with Steiner. Scott was nearly crippled at that point, and handicapped in WWE because of HHH's bicep envy.

SamoaRowe - February 12, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
Whether it was booking or what-not, Test was pretty good in 1999-2001, or at least I used to enjoy his work back then.

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
You were going heavy on Grandpa's cough medicine.

My wrestling tastes were different back then too. I was basically a mark, and was showing signs of transforming into a smark in 2001, except that I was unaware of the term because I didn't visit smark message boards (that didn't start until 2003).

And I would daresay that Test/Shane from Summerslam 1999 and Test/Edge at Survivor Series 2001 would probably still entertain me.

I've seen both Test/Shane and Test/Edge fairly recently and they did absolutely nothing for me.

I used to dig some of his stuff years ago, but just about NONE of it holds up.

whitemilesdavis - February 12, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
I always dug his buck-teeth.

SamoaRowe - February 21, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
CM Punk is going to Wrestlemania! He just pinned Johnny Nitro to earn a place in the MiTB match!

Scrooge McSuck - February 21, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
Feh... ECW isn't worth even my time any more.

SamoaRowe - February 21, 2007 03:36 AM (GMT)
It's been a good episode thus far. While the individual members seem pretty random, the New Breed stable is pretty cool and it's good to see some of these guys getting utilized.

I think it would be neat if Kennedy took the ECW title tonight.

SamoaRowe - February 21, 2007 03:38 AM (GMT)
Grenier and Dupree are reuniting as La Resistance again as I type this. They might as well team them up again, neither were doing anything noteworthy as singles.

Anyone know what Rob Conway's status is right now? Is he back in development or just sitting at home?

Scrooge McSuck - February 21, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
I guess the brand split is rendered worthless now... more so.
