Title: OAO Smackdown Thread 2007

Mad Dog - February 2, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
Trying a new format again. The PPV threads will stay monthly though.

SamoaRowe - February 19, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
Wow, I read the No Way Out results and it sounds like an awful show. Did anyone watch it?

Scrooge McSuck - February 19, 2007 06:25 PM (GMT)
No Way Out was last night? Did Kane win? (Grabs pitch fork)

dynamite kido - February 19, 2007 06:45 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Kane won. Clean apparently.

SamoaRowe - February 19, 2007 06:50 PM (GMT)
Kane beats former World champ cleanly = Scrooge's new favorite PPV.

Scrooge McSuck - February 19, 2007 06:58 PM (GMT)
KAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE! YES! (waits for NWO on 24/7)

whitemilesdavis - February 24, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
Wow. Booker T and Kane are having both of their best match ever on Smackdown right now. This is the best TV match I've seen in quite a while.

whitemilesdavis - February 24, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
Ehhh. Khali's murdering Kane right now. Crappy finish. Still, can't diminish what was a great match.

Scrooge McSuck - February 24, 2007 02:17 AM (GMT)
Damn, I might actually watch Smackdown after I'm done taping it. Thanks for the heads up...

KANE!

Real F'n Show - February 25, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Damn, that WAS a good Booker/Kane match. Pretty good week for the WWE with each show having at least one pretty good match.

whitemilesdavis - February 26, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
Give Booker the title back, NOW.

Real F'n Show - February 26, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
He at least needs a run with the US belt, even if it means barely anything at this point. The greatness that was King Booker last year is slowly slipping away to make room for far less entertaining crap.

whitemilesdavis - February 26, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
He could be the saviour of wrestling as we know it. That match with Kane made me a true believer.

Real F'n Show - February 26, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Exactly. Normally Booker's had a reputation of working to his opponent's level, but ever since the King Booker thing came into play he's been proving it wrong and actually doing some carrying.

whitemilesdavis - February 26, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
And that character was hilarious. It seemed just as soon as Booker started gaining momentum, they jobbed him to Batista. Who sucks.

Real F'n Show - February 26, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
That's how it goes with talent, my friend.

Booker's always been hilarious. I think his stuff with Goldust is even better than the King Booker stuff.

whitemilesdavis - February 27, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
I've been a Booker fan since he called Hogan a n*****, but the King Booker period is my favorite ever.

TehDoct0r - February 27, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
Wasn't the good King supposed to retire way back in like 04? Thank god he didn't.

whitemilesdavis - February 27, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Yeah, he's threatened for like 5 years now.

TehDoct0r - February 27, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
Then we would have never had the joy of hearing "Thaddeus" uttered on SmackDown.

SamoaRowe - February 27, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
IIRC, he was planning on retiring in 2004, but was offered a good contract renewal, so he signed on with hopes that his push would improve. And it eventually did, even though he had to job to Boogeyman at WM22 <_<

TehDoct0r - February 27, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Oh man. I had actually forgotten that. Boogeyman was funny when he was popping up backstage in John Cena promos, but not when he was squashing (soon to be) royalty.

prof_plague - March 3, 2007 07:50 AM (GMT)
I can't say I liked the King Booker gimmick at first. But I like the fact that with the gimmick, he can draw some strong old school heat.

SamoaRowe - March 3, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Yeah, at first I couldn't believe that Booker's new, permanent gimmick, was that of a king. It seemed so random, as if the creative team was like "Hey, let's make Booker a king, hahaha, no really, let's do it." But dammit, Booker has made the gimmick work and I love it now.

dynamite kido - March 3, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
Personally I still think that the King character sucks for Booker. It makes one of the bigger heels on SD a total comedy act.

TehDoct0r - March 3, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
A comedy act that can axe kick your ass off and win World Titles!

SamoaRowe - March 3, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
The fact that it seemed like a comedy act is what initially turned me off. However, I don't think the marks really find it funny as much as they find it obnoxious and want to boo the guy.

TehDoct0r - March 3, 2007 07:32 PM (GMT)
They killed any chance they had of me booing him when they paired him with Regal and Finlay.

SamoaRowe - March 3, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
But they have split since then :P

TehDoct0r - March 3, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
Yes. I wept a little on that day.

SamoaRowe - March 4, 2007 02:07 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it's a little sad, because I was enjoying seeing Regal get pushed again, and Finlay hasn't had as much direction since Armageddon.

Real F'n Show - March 4, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
Havn't Regal and Taylor not been on TV for like a month?

Scrooge McSuck - March 4, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
At least.

SamoaRowe - March 4, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
Yeah, they were announced for that canceled ladder match at No Way Out, despite not being on television, and have continued to be ghosts.

Scrooge McSuck - March 4, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
To be fair, both have the skin complexion for the job.

Real F'n Show - March 4, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
They should use Regal as the GM.

Scrooge McSuck - March 4, 2007 02:22 AM (GMT)
Regal talking = awesome. When was the last time he said besmirch? 2004?

TehDoct0r - March 4, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)
Probably closer to two hours ago, it just wasn't filmed.

Scrooge McSuck - March 11, 2007 01:13 AM (GMT)
Damn Smackdown was pushed back to tonight because of college basketball yesterday. First time I've ever had that happen with Smackdown. I know it's more popular in larger areas, like in New York because of various sports broadcasts.

Real F'n Show - March 11, 2007 01:24 AM (GMT)
It kicks ass this week Scrooge, don't miss it. Only 4 matches, but they all go 10 minutes plus and are all well worth you're time, especially 'Taker/Finlay.
