Recently I've been getting into an old school LA Punk back called "X". Anyone here a fan?

From what I've heard so far, they are a major MAJOR underrated band.

I've heard a few tracks From Los Angeles and assorted other discs. I quite like it.

I don't know if I'd call them underrated. Maybe Underappreciated

Good point.

But I've been pretty wowed by them myself. I like the changing dynamic with the male and female singers, plus there music is a throwback to older stuff. Also, I like the fact that they weren't trying to be every punk bank in the world. They were actually talking about different things than most.

I've always had trouble finding these guys. During the Napster craze of 1999-2001, it was next to impossible to find any of their songs, simply due to their name. You'd search for "X" and end up with shitloads of porn.

The categorization thing seems to hurt them, too. I've heard them classified as "Rockabilly" even.

They had an MTV push in 1985, but it didn't work too well. I think they had a video for the song "True Love", but don't quote me on that.

"4th of July" was played frequently around here in the 90's, on the old "alternative" station. The station stopped playing it when they were officially eaten up by Clear Channel around 2000.

For a rarity, look around for their cover of Willie Nelson's "Home Motel" from 1996 (that whole "Twisted Willie" album is worth tracking down, anyways).

Yeah, it's really hard to download their stuff because of their name.

But honestly, from what I've already heard, I'd buy most of their early 80's stuff.

I was actually surprised that they still play today.

I'm pretty sure they actually sell some of thier stuff (at least "Los Angeles") at Best Buy nowadays.

Not a huge fan, but there is definitely some good stuff there.
