1-05-07Joey Styles informs us that the inmates are now running the Asylum as there is no official commissioner in Midwest after Roddy Piper's retirement.
Onyx vs. Delirious -
It's a squash, and Onyx obliterates Delirious afterwards. Really puts the emphasis on the inmates running the Asylum
Jim E. Cornette is happy that
the Naturals will be teaming with Angle and Collyer. They'll get to prove that they're, as a tag team, the best team in Midwest.
The Lords of the Ring vs. Chair Swinging Freaks-
The LOTR pick up the win with solid tag team action
Jim Mitchell is backstage with
Abyss, he tells Batista that he better be ready, because the monster will destroy the Animal (Funny thing, during the promo, Delirious was being carried to the back with some medics, and Abyss looked as if he wanted to follow him)
Angle, Collyer & The Naturals vs. The Brits, Regal & Benoit-The Naturals, Collyer & Angle do well in the match, but they were playing fair, which allowed The Brits to cheat. The ref called the match. As the ref went to call it for the faces, Benoit turned him around and told him otherwise. So technically, the faces win, but the heels got it announced. Angle got the best of Benoit, though, as he slapped on the Ankle Lock after Benoit warned the ref. Regal slaps on the Regal Strech as Angle has the Ankle Lock. Collyer grabs the belt and walks out. Looks like Collyer will be carrying the belt into Starrcade.
Joey Styles informs us that someone from NWA Midwest has joined NEW's James Gibson in challenging El Hijo Del Santo for the NWA Title. Styles doesn't know who, though, as he just got word from his director, who just got the approval fax from the NWA Board of Directors.
Homicide tells Matt Striker that his resolution will be like so many others, ignored and forgotten
Raven vs. B-Boy-Saturn costs Raven the match. Raven wasn't happy at all
Raven grabs a mic and challenges Saturn to a match at Motor City Massacre. Saturn accepts
Batista is seen warming up, a backstage hand walks in and shows him something. Batista nods and signs it.
Claudio Castagnoli cuts a promo on CM Punk, telling him that it may be a new year, but the fiscal year isn't over yet, and all debts must be paid in full. Very reminiscent of Irwin R. Schyster, without the sleaze.
Batista vs. Abyss w/Jim Mitchell-Both men enter the ring. They are each announced and then the ref asks Mitchell to step out of the ring. It's at this point that a cage begins to lower. That's right, the paper Batista signed was his calling for match to be a
CAGE MATCH. The crowd goes wild, as does Mitchell. He's irate. But there's no one to appeal to. So Batista and Abyss go at it like wild men. The match is "Main Event" quality. Batista and Abyss tear each other to pieces. In the end, Abyss pulls out the victory with the Shock Treatment
