So anyway, up first is a WCW Classic;

Goldberg vs. Tank Abbot

- The bell rings. The match is underway. Abbot swings with a wide right and misses, Goldberg clobbers him with a side-kick. Abbot tries another punch, Goldberg instead blocks it, pounds away and hits a front chancery take-over.

Goldberg sets up for the spear but Rick Steiner interferes from the ramp(?) and hits Goldberg with a couple of the softest chair shots in wrestling history. Abbot covers with one foot but Goldberg kicks out. Steiner and Abbot with some extremely uninspired (and boring) clubbing and stomping, until The NWO Wolfpac's music hits. I'm totally lost right now, but okay.

Abbot and Steiner go for a doublewhip, Goldberg reverses, Kevin Nash drags Steiner to the floor as Goldgberg finishes Abbot with a spear/jackhammer combo.

DUD. Boring match, with no substance and no real attempt at any work. Considering who was involved maybe we should be thankful for that, though. Although I consider it a bit too short to dip into the negatives.

So yeah, you're Tempest. Anyone named after my favorite early 80's spinny-knob arcade game is okay.

Of course by "Classic" you mean "steaming pile" :)

When and where did this take place? I'm thinking it might've been around Spring 2000, when Goldberg was feuding with Scott Steiner (hence the Rick Steiner run-in).

Honestly, I was only sporadically watching WCW by this point. According to the video it took place during a "big comeback" of Goldbergs. And it definitely happened after he nearly killed Bret with that kick, becasue they made reference to it at one point.

SamoaRowe - December 1, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
I think I saw that match when it aired. I was pretty markish back then so I wouldn't have cared about work-rate, but I think even I was bored by it.

Welcome to da board.

eStragand - December 1, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
After searching NITRO archives (darn you! Do you see what you made me do?!!), it looks like it was on June 5, 2000.

So, you're right--it was Goldberg's big comeback after punching out a limousine window.

The same episode also featured the Goldberg MONSTER TRUCK!!

..and Ms. Hancock.... umm, excuse me for a minute....

SamoaRowe - December 1, 2006 10:44 PM (GMT)
Oh, and a thanks for letting us all know about dailymotion.com. I just used it to write a random match review :)

Up next is a match that actually has the possibility to be pretty decent

The Undertaker vs. British Bulldog from a 1995 epsiode of WWF RAW for the WWF title.

This should be interesting. I've always found Undertaker wrestling "strong-man" type of opponents entertaining. And Bulldog fits the bill here.

Bulldog bails to start, 'Taker chases, Bulldog hammers away as he slides back inside. Bulldog with the whip, backdrop telegraphed 'Taker with a hair takedown. Bulldog whipped across from corner to corner, Taker with a choke. Another whip in and 'Taker gets his trademark flying clothesline. Taker with the rope-walk but its countered with an armdrag.

Taker sits up. Bulldog tries for a whip, gets reveresed and eats a big boot. Taker with a bodyslam, the big jumping elbow that always misses..... of course, misses. Back up now and Bulldog clotheslines 'Taker over the top, but Taker stays standing and grabs an oncoming Cornette.

Bulldog uses this distraction and clips 'Taker's knee before throwing him into the steps. Cut to a commercial, we're back with Bulldog whailing away on Taker's knee. Bulldog pulls Taker up and tries a whip across but 'Taker simply collapses. Bulldog with a not oft-seen single leg crab.

Back up, Taker fights back with a kick, headbutt, and a few punches. Bulldog quickly regains the advantage and tries for his Powerslam but Taker slips out and hits a back suplex.

'Taker back up, and surprisingly (for him anyway) he's still selling the knee (and quite well, too). We get a slugfest now that Taker gets the advantage in.

'Taker with a one-legged rope walk, and he actually sells the knee on the landing. Bulldog whipped in, Taker telegraphs a backdrop and gets piledrived (driven?) for his effort and for a nice nearfall. Bulldog with a vertical suplex for another two, and a bodyslam for a third two.

'Taker continues sitting up. Both men back up now, 'Taker ducks a clothesline and nails the chokeslam before King Mabel jumps 'Taker causing the disqualification.

*1/2- I enjoyed it well enough. Bulldog was his always dependable, if not fantastic, self and Undertaker really seemed to have his selling boots on tonight. It was a perfectly solid little match.

Tempest - December 1, 2006 11:56 PM (GMT)
This one sure looks like an odd one: Undertaker vs. Jinsei Shinjaki (Hakushi) credited to Michinoku Pro of all places.

Lets check it out. Hakushi is/was awesome and all, but I'm not sure he's going to put on that good of a match with The Undertaker here.

Holy shit, the house lights just came up and 'Taker is definitely in a Japanese ring.

Hakushi starts the match lying down (he was lying down since he entered the ring). He stands up and Undertaker chokeslams him quickly. This one's pretty much in the bag. Hakushi actually makes it back up to his feet and gets nailed with a big right hand, and another as he stands up again. Taker with a couple rights in the corner, Hakushi whipped across and he gets clobbered with a blig clothesline. Taker covers for two. Taker with the ropewalk for another two. Hakushi back up, he's whipped across and goes up and over the post to the floor.

On the floor now Undertaker follows Hakushi around punching him. It should probably be noted that in the WWF at this time this match would've ended about seven minutes ago. Also, Hakushi hasn't actually gotten any offense in yet.

Taker back in, and he catches Hakushi with a right hand on the apron. Taker with an outside-in suplex for two.

'Taker with a whip and a clothesline misses, Hakushi actually gets some offense in now, in the form of a couple karate chops, but a big boot shuts him down. Taker attempts the big jumping elbow that always misses..... and of course, misses.

Hakushi is up now, with a look on his face not unlike that of an enraged pitbull and hammers 'Taker. 'Taker tries for a whip but runs into two boots to the face. Hakushi with a headscissors now for two. Hakushi with some headbutts in the corner but Taker shoves him off. Hakushi comes back with a kick and more mounted headbutts but gets flung off.

'Taker with a chokeslam attempt that Hakushi backflips out of. Taker trying to maintain his advantage goes for a kick but gets caught and legwhipped.

Hakushi now focuses his attacks on the leg, continually falling headbutting it. Hakushi muscles 'Taker back to the corner and sets him up in the tree of woe and chokes away before pounding on the leg some more. Hakushi with a chop, but 'Taker fires back with some brawling and heavy clubbing blows. 'Taker standing on Hakushi's neck now.

Hakushi back up now, he goes back to the leg and stomps Taker down before hitting a top-rope headbutt. Taker bails to the floor, Hakushi tries a dive and gets posted for his troubles.

Hakushi back in, Taker with a punch, a whip and his trademark clothesline for two. 'Taker now attempts to pick up Hakushi but he fires back with several kicks to the injured leg. Off the ropes Hakushi gets caught out of a crossbody but floats behind and kicks at the leg some more. Hakushi with another legwhip to further weaken the leg. Hakushi heads up top for a moonsault and nails it for two. Hakushi with another top rope headbutt attempt but 'Taker sits up. Taker nails his second chokeslam of the match, for only two.

Hakushi makes it back up to his feet, Taker stalks up behind him and hits a quick Tombstone for three.

**- For what it was it was actually quite good. 'Taker played his role really well as the big mean monster, and Hakushi showed his ability to play a solid underdog face. 'Taker sold the knee quite well and Hakushi was smart enough to keep going back to it. The story being told here, with 'Taker coming on full bore only for Hakushi to keep slowing him down with shots to the leg (which was the real turning point in the early going) and then going high risk to try to end the match early was really quite well done. One of the most sublte moments of the match really was the finish, with 'Taker getting a tombstone in from basically left field like he did. It was kind of building up at that moment that 'Taker had to hit something drastic and quick before Hakushi could mount another comeback, so he hit his best move the absolute second he could. Anyway, pretty good match.

SamoaRowe - December 2, 2006 05:55 AM (GMT)
Oh man, wait until Scrooge sees this. I dared give an old Undertaker match a **1/2 rating several months ago and he ripped me for it :P

New match up: Kane vs. The Acolytes (Bradshaw and Faarooq)

I don't know why, but Kane is defending the tag team titles against the Acolytes in a handicap match. This one isn't going to be pretty.

Kane jumps the gun, attacking the Acolytes on the floor. Bradshaw gets thrown to the steps as Faarooq and Kane brawl some more.

Inside now, Kane pounds on Faarooq in the corner. Kane gets a whip and Faarooq gets goozled. Bradshaw breaks it up. There's some clubbering, a whip and Kane takes a a clothesline in the corner.

More clubbering, Kane gets a sidewalk slam off a whip. Kane with an elbow drop, Faarooq in now, and he gets tossed out. Randomly, JR namedrops Buffalo New York, which is close to my hometown, actually. Kane with a flying clothesline on Bradshaw.

Bradshaw with a whip in and a boot, but Kane recovers and clotheslines him over the top. Kane gets dragged to the floor and beaten, not unlike a Government mule. Kane fights back throwing Bradshaw across the announcer's table and clubbering away on Faarooq.

Kane with a whip attempt reveresd by Faarooq into a Bradshaw clothesline. Double team now, Kane goes to the table and gets whipped hard into the steps.

Bradshaw and Faarooq now with clubbering. Back inside now, Kane takes a double vertical for two. Kane whipped again to the corner, but he comes back with a clothesline. Bradshaw now rams Kane into the corner, more double team pounding. Faarooq gets the tag in, Bradshaw tagged back in after more non-descript pounding. Bradshaw with yet another whip, Kane reverses but runs into a boot in the corner. Bradshaw tries for the CFH, but Kane ducks and gets a chokelslam. Faarooq is in to break it up, and he takes a short-arm clothesline.

Bradshaw bails to the outside and grabs a chair, meanwhile Kane gets Faarooq goozled. Bradshaw back in with a couple of chairshots as Faarooq has the zebra-striped man distracted. The Acolytes with a doubleteam neckbreaker now for the three.

Oh man, that was ugly. 3/4* Really nothing special. The typical ugly, disjointed, and boring brawl you'd expect from 1999 era Acolytes and Kane.

SamoaRowe - December 15, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
I think I remember this match too. It makes me think about how obnoxious it was in No Mercy for the N64 when story mode keeps booking you against the APA in handicap matches in the back.

Something new (but nothing blue)

Sting and Lex Luger vs. Rick and Scott- The Steiner Brothers- WCW Tag-Team Championship Match

I'm looking forward to reviewing this quite a bit. Sting was really good at this point, Luger was solid and The Steiners were both still in their respective primes.

Handshake to start.

Rick and Lex start, big tieup. Luger shoves him off, Steiner tries it again, trying to drive Luger to the corner to no avail. Steiner powers Luger into the corner but breaks cleanly. Another tieup, Luger with an armdrag. Another tiepup, Steiner gets a wastelock and rides Luger. Luger gets to the ropes to break it. Another lockup, Luger with a standing headlock. Headlock takedown, Rick reverses out. Back up, Rick gets a doubleleg takedown into the ropes. Lockup again, Luger gets caught in a headlock. Luger presses Rick to the ropes to break. Luger with another standing headlock, Stiener throws him off and tries a shoulderblock but simply bounces off.

Back up, Rick gets whipped in and powerslammed for two. Stiener whipped to the corner, Luger charges and misses and Rick nails a gorgeous release German Suplex. Rick with a Steinerline for two. Luger whipped across now, and he gets backdropped. Luger back up, he gets whipped across, but explodes from the corner with a big clothesline for a 360 sell from Stiener. Back up, Stiener whipped in and caught with a big military press slam.

Luger now tags Sting in for the first time. Sting stalks Rick and clotheslines him over the top and to the floor. Sting now with a plancha on Rick. That was an impressive move in 1991. Back inside, Sting nails a running bulldog on the future DFG. Steiner pops up, and starts barking (and no-selling) until Sting picks him up and runs him chest first into the buckles out've a backbreaker position.

Sting with a Stingersplash, but Rick ducks and gets the tag to Scott. Scott in hott (yeah, two t's) and nails a double underhook powerbomb. Sting back up, whipped in and he takes a tilt-a-whirl slam. Scott with a whip now, but Sting counters with a stungun style move to stop his momentum.

Luger back in now, he gets a vertical suplex. Sting back in, and he takes an inverted atomic drop for his troubles. Scott now hits a very impressive belly-to-belly off the top rope for a long two.

Weird sequence now as Scott sets Sting on the top-rope and tries for a clothesline which Sting avoids. Why he needed to use the top-rope for that I'll never know....

Luger tagged back in now, he gets a vertical suplex on Scott for two. Luger with a whip, Steiner avoids, uhh, something and gets a single-armed slam. Back up, Luger with a whip and a powerslam. Luger back up, he's signalling for the Wrack. Wrack attempt, but Scott counters with a Russian legsweep. That's the first time I've seen that.

Scott with a tag, Luger whips Scott and turns his back long enough for Rick to get a top-rope bulldog headlock that he follows up with an elbowdrop for a long two.

Out of nowhere Sting nails Rick with a missile dropkick, after getting a tag that the refferree didn't see. Rick nails Sting now, before turning to brawl a bit with Luger. Steiner with a headlock, Luger whips him off and both men take each other out.

Both men now tag their respective parnters in and we've got a brawl between Sting and Scotty. Sting counters a punch with a sloppy backsuplex. Sting with some punches and a whip, but Scott clobbers him when he ducks too early. Scott with a tombstone piledriver attempt, but Sting floats back and gets one of his own. Sting with a cover 1.....2, but Rick Stiener breaks it up. Luger now, seemingly enraged comes in and takes out both Rick and the refferree with a clothesline. Rick and Luger are brawling on the floor, as Sting reverses a whip and gets the Stinger splash back inside.

Suddenly, we pan down the entry way to see a silhouetted Nikita Kolloff. Kolloff charges the ring, Sting throws himself in front of Luger and gets nailed with The Russian Sickle leading to Scott Steiner getting the three count in short order.

Winners and still champions: The Steiners

***: Great match. All four men seemed to be on their game, as everyone just went out there and played their roles very well. Just a very well booked and well wrestled match with some good action. I liked it quite a bit. Very good. My only real complaint was that, it kind've started off a little slow at first. But when it really gained momentum it was solid.

whitemilesdavis - December 16, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
I've been watching some classic Steiners lately. I had forgotten how great they were.

Tempest - December 19, 2006 12:16 AM (GMT)
New match:

Razor Ramon vs. Yokozuna

This one's not gonna be pretty.....

Its pretty scary to think the most talented person involved in this match is Jim Cornette, Yoko's manager.

We get our bell to start, Yoko jumps a distracted Ramon from the outset with some clubbing blows and stomping. Yoko with a headbutt, followed by a whip and a clothesline. Another Yoko clothesline, but Ramon ducks and wails away with some rights of his own. A discuss punch sends Yoko out through the second rope. Ramon follows, and sends Yoko's head to the steps. Yoko stalks away, and uses the Cornettes racket to regain the advantage. Shouldn't that be a disqualification? How much could a tennis wracket huty anyway? So many unanswered questions......

Razor tries to come back in, but he gets tossed right back out. Ramon tries to enter again, but Yoko clubbers him off. Yoko now bringa Ramon back in, and he gets the dreaded (not to mention dreadfully boring) nerve lock. Ramon fights back now with more punching. Yoko's rocked, but he clobbers his way back into it. Yoko with a bodyslam now. Yoko with his 600,000,000 pound legdrop. Ramon now rolls to the floor. Ramon comes back in and gets nerve locked. Does Yoko think he's Mister Spock or something? Yoko with a pinning move for two. Yoko with another nerve hold.

This is booooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg.............

I'm fairly certain time has stopped.....

I'm gonna go eat a sandwhich.

Wait a minute!!!!! Razor fights up, tries a clothesline takes a reverse elbow.

Yoko with a running splash attempt, but Ramon rolls out of the way. Ramon with an arm over for two, as Yoko gets his foot on the rope.

Back up, Razor nails some more rights. Yoko rakes the eyes to stop it. Ramon retreats to the opposite corner and gets whipped across. Yoko misses his running butt splash.

Ramon hammers away now with punches, kicks, and a clothesline. A couple more clotheslines and Yoko finally goes down. Ramon now signalling for The Razors Edge (yeah right....) but Crush interferes and pounds down Ramon drawing the DQ at an excruciating 12:15.

Postmatch, Lex Luger runs in and runs Yoko and Crush off.

Winner: Razor Ramon

-**1/2: That sucked. Whoever thought booking Yoko to go over five minutes was a moron. Especially against Razor, who isn't any kind a of a miracle worker and whose style didn't really mesh well with Yoko's. Just a terrible match.

Tempest - December 19, 2006 11:48 PM (GMT)
New Match

"Sparky Plug" Bob Holly vs. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw

This one's gonna be dirty anal-cam ugly. Speaking of "ugly", you've got to see Bradshaw's coat and facial hair here. Its like a combination of The Bezerker and The Highlander's fur coats. Actually, he kind of looks like Tyler Mane (as Sabretooth) from the X-Men movie.

Bradshaw jumps Holly from behind to start with some kicks and clubbing blows and some stomps. Bradshaw with a bodyslam now. Elbow drop, make it two. Back up, Bradshaw with some knees. Holly whipped off, Bradshaw ducks his head early and catches a kick to the face. Holly with some rights, but he runs into a bigboot.

Back up, Bradshaw gets a pumphandle slam. Holly's head to the buckle now. Whipped across, and Bradshaw stomps. Another big whip across this time, Holly bumps hard. Floatover vertical suplex for two on Holly. Bradshaw goes back to stomping. Bradshaw with a Russian Legsweep for two. Holly shot off again, he ducks a clothesline. Holly gets a couple kicks and some clotheslines but can't knock Bradshaw down. Holly avoids a bigboot and finally gets him down with a flying clothesline.

Holly with some shots in the corner, Bradshaw counters back with a knee and a whip across. Holly reverses, charges and misses a running splash. Bradshaw hits a big lariat for the academic (my dear Watson....) three.

3/4*- I don't like handing out DUDs. Not to mention, it really wasn't anything offensive. Just a basic squash.

SamoaRowe - December 19, 2006 11:57 PM (GMT)
I love handing out DUD's when a match deserves it B) Hell, I gleefully gave Hogan/Piper at Judgment Day 03 a DUD.

As well as the four-way women's match at Great American Bash this year.

And others, mostly involving Kane :ph43r:

whitemilesdavis - December 20, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
Wow, you picked a winner with that one.

QUOTE (whitewahoomcdaniel @ Dec 19 2006, 08:24 PM)
Wow, you picked a winner with that one.

I kinda figured it might've been a bit more competetive than it actually was. I mean, Holly was still a hot young prospect at this point. It seems like he would've gotten a bit more offense in before doing the clean job.

He did beat Owen Hart clean, after all.

Tempest - December 23, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
WWF RAW June 22nd 1998- "Road Dogg" Jesse James vs. Kane

Quick start, James ducks a clothesline and peppers Kane with some rights. Kane nosells and tosses James to the opposite corner. Clothesline ducked, James with an eyepoke and some kicks. Dogg with some mounted punches but he gets tossed off. Dogg back up, he charges and gets nailed with a big clothesline. Kane with a falling elbow. Back up, Kane with a turnbuckle smash.

Kane with a right hand in the corner, Dogg gets whipped and leveled with a big boot. Kane with some choking now. Kane with some kicks to the sternum now. Shortarm clothesline now. Kane pounding now. In the corner, Kane continues clubbering away. Choking now. James with takes a big bump off a hard whip.

Kane stalks Dogg, nosells a couple boots and gets some more pounding in. James whipped across now, he ducks a clothesline and gets his dancing punches. James with a clothesline, Kane goes up and over and lands on his feet. Kane now with an extremely awkward looking necksnapper over the rope. Kane with a flying clothesline.

James whipped across, Kane charges into an elbow. Whip in, Kane misses a clothesline, but gets a chokeslam, James hits a lowblow, Kane holds on and hits it followed by a tombstone for three.

Winner: Kane

3/4*- Boring match. In wrestling its true, sometimes you just have a combination of guys who can't have a good match. They try, but nothing really clicks. This was one of those matches.

Edge vs. Jose Estraaaaaaadaaaaaa

Its amazing to see how far Edge has come. He's gone from beating up Jose Estrada to maineventing RAW and holding the heavyweight title.

Jose starts off quickly with some lefts and rights in the corner. Edge whipped across to no affect as he spears and hammers on Jose. Jose whipped in, he gets dropkicked to the floor. Edge now with a summersault helo over the top. Edge back in, the ref holds him back and Jose gets counted out. Edge wins by countout.

Winner: Edge

DUD: Very unusual finish, and a bad way to debut a new wrestler, as they were doing here.

WCW Souled Out 1998- Raven vs. Chris Benoit

Quick start here; Raven gets a baseball slide dropkick to start. Benoit rammed into the barricade, the steps and the barricade again. Back in, Raven gets a couple snapmares, but Benoit counters a third with a backslide for two. Raven's quickly back on the attack with an elbow and some head smashes to the mat. Benoit whipped into a knee, Raven tries it again but gets rolled up for another two. Raven gets another elbow to the head for only a one. Benoit tossed outside, he takes a chairshot. Raven gets an elbowdrop over Benoit's neck on the apron.

Back inside, Raven gets a snapmare on the chair. Raven with a bulldog onto the chair for two. Raven with a chair-toehold attempt, but Benoit counters it into one of his own. Raven gets back up and takes a chop that he sells like a bullet wound. Benoit now chops his way back into it and whips Raven into a big clothesline. Benoit with a snap-suplex on the chair. Benoit covers for two. Benoit tears off Raven's shirt and chops away. Raven chopped back into the corner and simply collapses and rolls to the floor. Benoit gets a baseball slide and heads to the floor. Raven gets whipped to the steps. Benoit stalks Raven around the ring. Benoit finally catches up and gets another chop.

Raven takes a snap-suplex on the ramp and sells it like he's dead. Benoit rolls Raven back to the ring. Back in the ring and Benoit gets another suplex on the chair. Chair stomp by Benoit. Benoit now hits the diving headbutt onto the chair on to Raven but knocks himself out too. Benoit rolls over for a hell of a nearfall. The crowd totally bought it. :P

Back up, Benoit tries a Northern Lights Suplex but Raven kills him with a DDT to counter. Oddly, Benoit gets a cover first, for only two. Raven pulls Benoit up for the Raven's Effect but gets countered into the Crossface and passes out instead of tapping out while laughing and smiling the whole time.

Winner: Chris Benoit

I'm kind of hard pressed to rate this. I'll give it a solid *** and call it a damn fine match. Both guys worked thier asses off and pulled out some good stuff, especially the couple of nearfalls towards the end. Very good work.

whitemilesdavis - February 22, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
I remember this match. I liked the ending, and the way it was sold on commentary.

No Way Out 2003- Triple H © w/Ric Flair vs. Scott Steiner- World Heavyweight Title

This, as we all know, is the rematch from Scotty and Hunter's "famous" Royal Rumble match from earlier in the year.

This isn't going to be pretty....

Lockup, Scott gets an armbar and works Hunter down. He spins out into a hammerlock and works him down to the knees. Hunter goes to the eyes to break and Scott takes a turnbuckle smash. Hunter with punches but Scott gets a kick to the injured thigh to escape. Scott attacks the thigh, but Hunter counters out and punches away in the corner. Scott counters and whails away. Scott with the ten-punch in the corner, but gets dropped into an atomic drop. Scott powers through with a clothesline. Muscle-flex elbow followed by some pushups. Scott goes back to the thigh, but Hunter escapes to the ropes and kicks him off. Scott gets a kick and an elbowdrop, staying on the thigh.

This is not what Scotty should be trying right now. Hunter can't sell and Scott can't work, so working over a body part is asking for boredom.....

Scott continues kicking away at the thigh. Scott with a sloppy leglock but Hunter punches out. Scott continues after it, smashing Hunter's thigh on the ring apron as we get a gigantic "Steiner sucks!" chant right now, and I smile.

Back in and Scott gets a t-bone and locks in a figure four. From the floor Flair reaches in and wrakes Steiners eyes to end that blasphemy. Scott chases Flair and punches him. Hunter gets a clothesline that sends Scott to the stairs as he attempts to come back in.

This thing is a fucking travesty....

Scott attempts to slide back in only to get kicked. Hunter gets another kick in. Hunter distracts Hebner as Flair interferes with a kick. Scott eats some steps and gets thrown back in. Hunter with a swinging neckbreaker for two. Hunter with mounted punching. Hunter with more punches and Scotty tastes the buckle.

Slugfest now, Hunter ducks a clothesline and gets a neckbreaker for two. Shoulder thrusts in the corner, Scott slugs his way out. Hunter gets a knee to the gut to stop it. Whip countered but Hunter catches Scott with a kick as he sets early. Clothesline attempt countered with a belly-to-belly from Scott. In the corner Scott continues to slug and pound away much to the delight of.... well... no one, actually.

Hunter whipped across and he gets the boots up on a charge. Cover with rope assistance for a long-ish two. Hebner sees it and throws Hunter off. Hebner goes nose to chest with Hunter and gets shoved. Scott, recovered, goes back to the clubbering and gets a backdrop before getting more crappy clubberin' in the corner. This is awful..... *cries*

Some more shit happens and Scott gets a side belly to belly for two. Scott with even more clubberin' in the corner. Whip across blocked, Scott kicks him and gets it. Hunter bumps over the top and hits the barricade. Scott follows and Hunter eats post.

Inside Scott gets more clubbering and a belly to belly for two. Hunter muscled to the top, and if Scott uses the Frankenstiener I'll mark out.... :D Instead its just a crappy suplex. Scott covers for two.

Flair jumps in and pulls Scott off at the last second. Scott now with the Steiner-Recliner. Can we just end it now? Please?

Here comes Randy Orton, Scott clubs him off the apron. Scott to the floor and he clotheslines Batista. I never thought I'd see someone that made Batista look good....

:(

Batista eats some steps. Flair gets clubbered. Scott back in, Hunter tries the Pedigree but gets clubbered a whole bunch instead and gets clotheslined over the top. Orton tries a crossbody but misses. Scott clubbers him and throws him over the top onto Batista. Hebner finally tosses out Flair, Orton and Bats. Hunter with a sledgehammer shot, as Hebner's distracted. Scott kicks out to a chorus of boos. Some people have taste....

Finally, to end this atrocity, Hunter nails the Pedigree for three.

Winner: Damn sure not us......

-******************************- I feel like I've been anally violated with a hot samaurai sword. Botched abortions look better than this match. They're probably more fun too.

You forgot to mention that Estrada took the blow across his head (jammer situation), and it either legit injured him, or it might've been kayfabed.

Weird... Edge went from silent guy to guy that won't shut up.

Is that right? Wow, I turned the video off after the end of the match and I guess I didn't hear about Estrada being legtimately injured.

WWF RAW- Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Big Van Vader

I don't know the real specifics behind this one, but Bret Hart's on commentary so it's before Survivor Series, for sure.

Tieup to start, Austin escapes. Another one and Austin does the same. Third tieup, Vader gets some punches in and does his thing in the corner. I've always thought those shots looked particularly nasty...

Austin goes down, Vader picks him up and keeps clubbering away. Shortarm clothesline and Austin's down. Vader with a whip and a mid-ring splash. Another whip, clothesline ducked and Austin gets the Lou Thesz press. Austin with stomps and rights and Vader falls to the floor. Austin follows with a running doublesledge from the apron.

(CLIPJOB- Thanks to Best Of RAW)

We're back with Vader in control with a headbutt. A double feature shows Austin getting staired by Vader during the "break". Vader continues with the pounding and the clubbering. Austin gets tossed to in with the humanoids, Vader follows with a chairshot. Austin brawls his way back with punches and a clothesline. Austin punches away and Vader rolls back inside. Whip reversed and Vader gets a mid-ring splash. Vader-Bomb attempt in the corner but Austin counters with a lowblow. Austin now with a flurry of punches, Austin tries to maneuver Vader for a clothesline but takes a backdrop to the floor.

Its now that Hart leaves the announcer position to chopblock Austin's knee, drawing the disqualification on Vader.

3/4*- Pretty much the highest star grade I could give to a match like this. It's just a simple brawl with a disqualification ending. Take it or leave it.

blow.

Naw, I'm pretty sure this was mid to late November 1996, after the Survivor Series (it was held around Nov 10 that year, I believe). The Series was Round One of their feud, so things were just beginning to simmer.

Coincedentally, this episode of RAW is airing on 24/7 this month.

I meant 1997 SS, actually.

It's before the 1997 Rumble, they mention Hart and Austin both being in it and they hype the Undertaker/Vader match.

King Of The Ring Qualifier- WWF Superstars 1993- Tatanka vs. Giant Gonzales

This has already been review elsewhere in this forum, but I'm going to take a bit of a crack at it myself.

A few notes before this review begins:

* Gonzales' airbrushed on asscrack disturbs me.

* I'll never understand Tatanka's red hair- it's ugly.

* Harvey Whippleman sure got stuck with some real losers; Adam Bomb? Kwang? The Heavenly Bodies? But Gonzales is easily the worst of them.

Gonzales is off and running with a big overhead forearm. Gonzales picks Tatanka up and does it again. Gonzales with a choke and a shove into the corner. Crappy knees and choking in the corner by Gonzales. Tatanka shoved hard into the corner. Gonzales with more knees and clubbing. More choking.... Tatanka whipped in, he gets booted. Gonzales taunts, and I notice what may be airbrushed pubic hair on Gonzales' outfit. Tatanka with an eyerake now, finally he gets some damn offense in with some punches. Tatanka with some kicks to the thigh. Tomahawk Chop off the top doesn't knock Gonzales down. Tatanka gets a second one, still not knocking Gonzales down. A third tomahawk chop is countered into a really shitty chokeslam. Gonzales with a bunch of choking that draws the disqualification to finally put this dog to sleep.

Winner: Whose God did I kill? :(

-***- For a five minute match it was excruciatingly bad. Lets put it like this, this match was a crappy craptastic crappy craptastical craptacular crap match.....

WCW- Main Event- Cactus Jack vs. Tom Zenk

Lockup, clean break by both men. Lockup, Cactus with a side-headlock. Zenk tries to spin out, but gets headlocked again. Zenk escapes, into the ropes and takes a shoulderblock. Lockup, Cactus gets a headlock takedown. Both men back up and Cactus is whipped off and Zenk gets shoulderblocked. Cactus charges and gets drop-toeholded. Zenk works in an armbar. Cactus fights out, whips Zenk off and gets a knee. What the Hell? Now the clip ends.....

Winner: Unknown

I can't rate this, there wasn't a full match here. Going by what I've seen so far; DUD.

Coliseum Video- Undertaker w/Paul Bearer vs. Kona Crush w/Mr. Fujji

This one's going to messier than a blind Canadian eating a burrito.....

Both guys start out nose-to-nose. 'Taker non-chalantly walks away, Crush jumps him with some forearms to the back. Crush with punches and a leaping elbow to the neck. 'Taker whipped in, he catches Crush with his sick jumping DDT. For some reason 'Taker lays there before doing his zombie sit-up. 'Taker with the jumping elbow that always misses...... and he misses, but sits up immediately. Crush with a clothesline, 'Taker goes over the top and lands on his feet. 'Taker's hangman spot as he's stalking Fuji. They never learn......

'Taker comes back in and gets the rope walk. Back up and a clothesline can't knock Crush down. 'Taker wrecks when Crush avoids a second one. 'Taker knocked to the floor off a sidekick. Crush with a crappy leaping sledge. 'Taker eats barricade, and takes a blatant chairshot. Crush with a running chairshot to the throat/chest. Crush continues his boring working over with punches. 'Taker back in, Crush keeps up the boring... I mean beating with some pseudo karate kicks, followed by a rather impressive axe kick that knocks 'Taker down. 'Taker back up, Crush wins a slugfest and feeds 'Taker some turnbuckle.

'Taker no-sells it and goes to some choking in the corner. Crush whipped across, he catches'Taker with an elbow on the charge, Crush gets a backbreaker. 'Taker again no-sells and zombies up. Crush gets a kick and then presses 'Taker above his head before dropping him. 'Taker zombies up, but gets legdropped. 'Taker back up again. 'Taker with a flurry of kicks and punches, and his big clothesline. Crush whipped in; 'Taker no-sells a kick when he sets early.

Crush with a Tombstone attempt (wha?), but 'Taker floats down behind and hits his own for the pin.

Winner: Undertaker

Rating: *1/2- About the best match you could expect from this combination. 'Taker was his usual self, and Crush looked pretty solid too. It's not great, but it's not painful. At least it was somewhat energetic. Take it or leave it.

WWE Smackdown!- King Of The Ring 2005- Semi-Final-Bobby Lashley vs. Mark Henry

- This one's not going to be pretty. The general internet reaction to Mark Henry during his 2005/6 run was shockingly positive for the most part. But Lashley is too green to put anything good together with Henry here.

Big lockup to start. Henry shoves Lashley to the mat. Second lockup, Lashley gets a top wristlock. Henry shoves Lashley to the counter to break it. Big staredown, Henry swings a punch, Lashley blocks and hammers with a few of his own. Lashley with a stunning kick, several more punches but an attempted bodyslam goes unfound. Henry with some clubbering, and he whips Lashley to the corner. Henry stops to taunt, Lashley pounds his way back into it with a clothesline and some clubbering. Henry shuts him down with a big clubbering clothesline. Cover, for two. Henry continues to control with more boring clubbering. Henry with some stomps, he covers for two. Lashley muscled up and he takes a backbreaker for two. Lashley fights back with some clubbering punches. Henry shuts him down with a headbutt. Henry with a kick to the chest as Lashley's doubled over. Lashley back up, Henry measures him, Lashley ducks and hits the ropes for a clothesline. Another one stuns him and a third one finally takes Henry down. Lashley with a bodyslam, Lashley goes all spastic with a taunt and tries his finish but Henry uses his naturally large ass to block it, and backdrop his way out.

Henry now with a charge, Lashley ducks and Henry hits the floor, sliding and striking his head on the announce table. Lashley wins by count out. Uggh... ;)

Winner: Bobby Lashley

3/4*- I'll be nice here. This match was doggy poo, but at least Henry wasn't awful. Frankly, this was not the kind of match Lashley needed here. He looked inferior to Henry at all turns and won on a freak accident- that's not the way to build a new star.

Unknown Promotion (most likely, NWA? AWA?) Kamala (w/General Skandar Ackbar) vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

Duggan jumps all over Kamala with his SLOPPY PUNCHES OF DOOM!!!!! Kamala whipped off, Duggan decks him with a clothesline. Duggan pulls Kamala up for more of his crappy punching. Kamala retreats to the corner, and fires back with some overhand chops. Kamala with more chops, Duggan eats turnbuckle. Kamala continues chopping away. Kamala drags Duggan out and continues the beating. Duggan eats barricade (adn he thinks it tastes good....) Duggan finally fights back with some crappy elbows and then punches away. He continues hammering, Kamala brawls and chops his way back into it.

Duggan tossed back in. Kamala does a jumping jack (for no readily apparent reason) and gets nailed with a running shouldertackle. Both guys back up, Duggan slugs and Kamala clubbers and chops. Kamala goes to the eyes and whips Duggan across, and nails a big boot. Kamala with a big splash, Duggan kicks at two... and I cry. Duggan now does a little "Hulk-Up" routine, and slugs away until Kamala shuts him down with a chop. Kamala with more chops on the ropes, the ref tries to pull him off and Kamala chops him too.

Duggan slugs back again. Now Ackbar comes in, he holds Duggan but Kamala accidentally chops him. Duggan slugs Kamala to the floor and chases Ackbar off with the three point stance.

Winner: "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan

-***- Awful, afwul, dangerous, afwul, crappy, craptastic, crap. A long dull boring sloppy brawl with no real wrestling. The scary thing; I'm sure these two have had more matches. One of which was during Duggan's run in WCW..... :(

SamoaRowe - February 25, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
You're really punishing yourself with some of these matches, eh? I fully agree on that Lashley/Henry match, as that was probably not the best booking strategy for someone who was heading for the finals. I can sort of understand why they did it though, as they wanted Henry to be a main event level heel for when Batista returned, but they didn't have the pespective that we have now.

WCW- Saturday Night- TV Title Scott Steiner vs. Ricky Steamboat ©

Lockup to start, Steamboat gets shoved off. Second lockup, Scott shoves Steamoat. Lockup for a third time and Scott gets a big bodyslam. Steamboat stands back up and takes a second one. Lockup, Scott goes to the sideheadlock. Steamboat shoots him off, goes over the top and gets a dropkick, and another one quickly after. Lockup, Scott gets a go-behind wastelock. Steamboat escapes to the ropes. Lockup, Scott gets another headlock. Steambotat shoots him off, they fight for a hiptoss and Scott winds up tossed to the floor. Steamboat with a bizzarre show of sportsmanship, allowing Scott to get up and come back in at his leisure.

Inside we get another lockup, Scott gets driven back to the corner, they break and Scott takes Steamboat into the corner. He breaks clean. Another lockup, they fight over the ropes and Scott gets backed into the corner, Steamboat again breaks clean.

Now they're arguing, Scott shoves Steamboat. Steamboat fires back with some chops, Scott answers those with some forearms. Scott takes a whip and a droptoehold. Armbar by Steamboat. Steamboat with more arm work. Backup, Scott whips Steamboat off and catches a shoulderblock, Steamboat covers for two. Backup, Steamboat gets one of his big armdrags and continues his armwork. Up now, Steamboat gets whipped and hiptossed, but avoids a mat attack from Scotty. Back up, Steamboat gets a toehold and another armbar. Back up, whip, reversal and Scott gets an overhead belly to belly. Steamboat back up, and he takes a whip and a backdrop. Scott with a half-Boston crab. Back up again, Steamboat gets whipped in, Scott catches him with a bearhug. Steamboat wrestles his way out and into another armlock. Scott reverses into one of his own. Steamboat catches him with an elbow and clotheslines himself on the ropes after missing a crossbody attempt before spilling out to the floor.

Steamboat drags himself back in and Scott catches him in a cradle for the win and to become the new TV champion.

Winner: Scott Steiner

Rating: **- Pretty solid, but heatless. Face vs. Face matches are usually pretty boring, and this was no real execption.
