So I've been brainstorming on the tag team tournament and think I have a good idea. Since each territory (minus U.K.) will be sending two teams to the tournament here's what I suggest.
Each territory pits their two reps against each other in the first round of the tournament and the winner goes to Starcade. Starcade then has the semis and the final for the tag team titles.
SamoaRowe - November 21, 2006 05:38 AM (GMT)
That's a good idea, Mad Dog. NEW will be happy to oblige.
And another kick-ass poster! I'm tempted to start begging you to make posters for NEW shows :P
SamoaRowe - November 23, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Assuming that we do a nine match card, that means each territory should be able to add a match, and there would still be room for a NWA World title match.
The card would look like:
Tag Team Tournament Semifinal
Tag Team Tournament Semifinal
Tag Team Tournament Final
Mid-Atlantic match
NEW match
Mexico match
Midwest match
U.K. match
NWA World title match
Does that format sound good? Also, is anyone interested in simming this? I am going to be on school break by then, so I wouldn't mind doing it again, but since I did the last super show, I'd love to see someone else take a crack at it.

NEW announces big match for Starrcade:
That's right, folks. New England Wrestling is proud to announce a match of gigantic importance for NWA Starrcade. The match will be NEW Champion John Bradshaw Layfield against CSW Champion Steve Corino in a title unification match! JBL will have the Cabinet in his corner, while Corino will have Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and Roderick Strong backing him up. All hell could very well break loose! |
jamiegeist - December 6, 2006 06:30 AM (GMT)
That match RULES. I'll be ordering.

Excellent, I was hoping you'd approve B)
And how do we want to go about picking a challenger for El Hijo Del Santo?
SamoaRowe - December 30, 2006 05:23 PM (GMT)
America's Most Wanted will be heading to Starrcard to try and become the NWA Tag Team Champions!
Also, NEW has a proposal for Starrcade: Boston Harbor Champion James Gibson has been a dominating force to reckon with since August, when he first won the Boston Harbor belt. Gibson would like to challenge El Hijo Del Santo for the NWA World Championship at Starrcade. Is Santo up for this challenge? Has anyone else challenged Santo? These questions are up in the air, and the other NWA promoters have the answers.
SamoaRowe - January 5, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
Hey guys, I know we're still in our little break time from the NWA game, but Starrcade is supposed to be this Sunday and so far I've got nothing to work with. Myself and Swiggy have teams for the NWA Tag title match, NEW has a match, and that's it. Even if you haven't been updating, please book anything, so I have something to use.
Otherwise, I'm left with three options:
1) Cancel the show, which would suck because Starrcade is supposed to be the biggest show of the year.
2) I personally make matches from the other feds and try to book in such a way that it does not change the status quo of the territories, this one is a bad idea because I technically do not have any authority over your workers.
3) I make it an NEW show, which would be rediculous because I haven't been building to it and because it would be very selfish of me B)
So please... announce a match and a tag team. And lets decide who faces Santo for the big gold belt.
Big F'N Swigg - January 5, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
I've got Angle vs. Benoit vs. Regal vs. Collyer for the Midwest title.

Excellent. Now we just need to hear from Mad Dog about the Mexico and U.K. matches and tag team.
SamoaRowe - January 7, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
Okay, Starrcade will be up sometime tomorrow. Mad Dog, if you want U.K. and Mexico matches, you need to announce them or PM them to me by tonight.
Big F'N Swigg - January 7, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
Do you want me to write my title match?

If you could, it would be extremely helpful, but don't feel like you have to.
I would at least like everyone to send me the planned finishes.
Big F'N Swigg - January 7, 2007 07:41 PM (GMT)
I'll write out the title match tonight
SamoaRowe - January 8, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
I have to work this evening, so I want to write Starrcade before one this afternoon. I'll be doing it then.
Also, Plague, I forgot exactly what the plan was for Warrior/Orton.

SamoaRowe - January 8, 2007 05:23 PM (GMT)
The show has been simmed and will be hopefully up sometime today. I'll admit I'm not feeling very well and I have to work tonight, so there may be some delays, I apologize in advance.
Also, since Mad Dog didn't announce any matches or a team, I took the liberty of incorporating some Mexico into the show so it would not be excluded. If that is not alright, just let me know and I'll edit the show accurately when writing it.
SamoaRowe - January 9, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
NWA: Starrcade
January 7th 2006
The show opens with a montage of the build for the big matches of the evening. This consists mainly of Steve Corino and JBL talking trash to each other, Randy Orton putting himself over, Midwest officials teasing a surprise NWA challenger, Benoit/Angle and Collyer/Regal doing battle, and closes with El Hijo Del Santo winning the NWA World title at Clash of the Champions.
-For old time's sake, Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler are on commentary.
NWA Tag Team Tournament Semifinal:
America's Most Wanted vs. The Naturals
In NEW, America's Most Wanted are in the process of turning into tweeners, but they heeled it up for this performance against their old rivals, The Naturals. The match does not click the way it should, but featured a lot of noteworthy moments. Andy Douglas hit a beautiful shooting star press off the ropes onto Chris Harris, who had run for cover due to being overwhelmed by his faster opponents. Later, Chase Stevens attempted a SSP off the corner turnbuckle, but James Storm climbed up and stopped him, and AMW delivered a modified Death Sentence off the turnbuckle to ringside! AMW were not able to get Stevens into the ring fast enough to capitilize, and the Naturals eventually made the comeback and Douglas rolled up Harris to advance to the finals at 11:17.
Winners: The Naturals (68/62/74)
-In a surprise appearance, NWA Mexico National Champion Juventud Guerrera came out to the ring. Juventud cut a promo stating that "The Juice" wanted a match, he did not take kindly to being left off of the NWA's biggest show of the year. He was then answered by NEW's Chris Jericho, who was feeling similar resentment. The match is on now!
NWA Mexican National Championship:
Juventud Guerrera © vs. Chris Jericho
The bout is contested under 2 out of 3 fall rules, and this is a classic encounter! Jericho and Juventud are stalemate at the start, with Juventud gaining the advantage after breaking a head lock. Jericho rakes Juvie's eyes and takes control for a bit, getting a near fall after a Lionsault. They exchange some shots before Jericho hits a blind low blow and covers Juvie with his feet on the ropes to get the first pinfall of the match at 10:22! They seperate and Juvie rolls out of the ring to regain himself. Jericho chases him, but Juvie drop toe holds him into the steel steps. Juvie then drops Jericho gut first on the barricade and whips him violently into the ring posts, bustin Jericho open. Juvie rolls Jericho back into the ring and hits the Juvie Driver to get a pinfall at 15:45. Both men unleash their fury, as the match turns into a hard hitting spot fest. It ends when Juventud nails Jericho with an off the turnbuckle Juvie Driver and gets the hard earned win at 19:22!
Winner and still the Mexican National Champion: Juventud Guerrera (92/97/81)
NWA Tag Team Tournament Semifinal:
The Hardy Boyz vs. Los Demonios
The crowd was not into this match as much as they should have been due to being fired up from the previous bout. The match was very solid, with some fun double teams by all four men. Highlights included Matt Hardy powerbombing both Averno and Mephisto off the turnbuckle when they were trying to superplex Jeff. Jeff followed it up with a Swanton Splash on Averno while Matt hit the big leg drop on Mephisto. Los Demonios came back and forced Jeff into being the face in peril and proceeded to destroy him for several minutes. After many near falls, Jeff finally made the hot tag to Matt, who cleaned house. Matt hit the Twist of Fate on Averno at 12:02 to win the match for the Hardyz and to advance to the finals.
Winners: The Hardy Boyz (71/60/82)
-Backstage, Chris Jericho is throwing a temper tantrum over his loss to Juventud Guerrera. He silences himself when he sees Boston Harbor Champion James Gibson arriving. Jericho then sneaks up on Gibson and tackles him right into the ribs he injured on the last Blizzard. Jericho then violently shoves Gibson face first into the concrete wall of the garage area. Gibson immediately suffers a nasty nose bleed and looks as if he might have suffered a concussion. J.R. and King speculate as to whether or not Gibson will be able to compete in tonight's main event.
NWA Tag Team Tournament Finals:
The Hardy Boyz vs. The Naturals
Both teams were exhausted from their matches from earlier, so this wasn't as fast paced as it might have been. The match still had some fun spots, including The Naturals hitting a sweet powerbomb/neck breaker combo on Jeff Hardy. The teams are pretty evenly matches, so there was no "face in peril" sequence, though the Naturals made more frequent tags through the entire match. The finish came when Andy Douglas went for a corkscrew splash, but Matt Hardy moved out of the way. This enbabled the Hardyz to hit their trademark spots, finishing up with Jeff's Swanton Bomb on Douglas to win the match at 15:10! The Hardyz are the new NWA World Tag Team Champions!
Winners: The Hardy Boyz (72/68/76)
NWA Midwestern Championship:
Chris Benoit © vs. Chad Collyer vs. William Regal vs. Kurt Angle
This match is both for the championship, and for pride. Collyer vs. Regal have been trying to prove their technical mastery, while Angle and Benoit have been feuding over Benoit's lack of intensity since winning the NWA Midwestern Title. Benoit and Angle were pulled into the Regal & Collyer feud over who is the best technical wrestler after a tag match several weeks ago on Burnout. It's a Four Way Dance, so all four guys start out in the ring. Angle and Benoit brawl, while Regal and Collyer attempt to actually wrestle. Angle and Benoit go outside. After some switching around, Regal eliminates Angle via the knucks while the refs back is turned.
First Elimination: Kurt Angle by William Regal.
This allows Regal and Benoit to double team Collyer. After some double teaming, Benoit eliminates Regal via Crossface while Regal was holding Collyer down for a diving Headbutt.
Second Elimination: William Regal by Chris Benoit.
This leaves us with Collyer vs. Benoit. The two wrestle like crazy. Benoit has the definite advantage, as both he and Regal were attacking Collyer earlier in the match. Collyer has lots of fight in him, though. Collyer tries to finish Benoit with the Texas Cloverleaf, and Benoit gets the ropes. The ref taps Collyer on the shoulder to tell him and Collyer raises his hands in Victory, which allows Benoit to hit a Northern Lights Suplex for the win
Winner and still Midwestern Champion: Chris Benoit (85/86/83)
NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship:
The Ultimate Warrior © vs. "Legend Killer" Randy Orton
For those of you wondering why Warrior is the M-A Champ, Plague will be posting his shows when he gets back to school in less than a week. Obviously, this match is not a classic, but it gets the crowd going. There are some nostalgic moments as Warrior gets fired up and unleashes some hard shots on Orton. Orton regains his momentum after an unexpected cameo run in by Papa Shango, who will be appearing for NWA: Hawaii in the near future. Shango evidently put a curse on Warrior, causing him to vomit. Orton is grossed out, but not enough to hit the RKO. Orton's cover is ruined by Warrior getting a foot in the ropes. Orton vents his frustration by RKOing the referee! It is at this point when the legendary Hulk Hogan and Sting rush the ring and beat the crap out of Orton. Sting hits the Stinger Splash and then allows Hogan to hit the leg drop. The pull Warrior over Orton and revive the referee, giving Warrior the victory at 9:34.
Winner and still Mid-Atlantic Champion: The Ultimate Warrior (78/85/64)
NEW/CSW Championship Unification:
NEW Champion John Bradshaw Layfield (with the Cabinet) vs. CSW Champion Steve Corino (with Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and Roderick Strong)
This match is nothing short of a brawl. With the Cabinet and CSW's guys keeping each other at bay at ringside, Corino and JBL proceed to beat the living hell out of each other with stiff shots. JBL unties a turnbuckle padding and violently slams Corino's skull into it repeatedly, busting him open around the five minute mark. The referee calls for the disqualification at 5:09! This brings out NEW President Rowe, who orders the match to continue with NO DISQUALIFICATIONS, THERE MUST BE A WINNER! The match restarts, and JBL targets Corino's bloody forehead. Samoa Joe rushes into the ring and tries to jump JBL, but the Cabinet rushes as well. This prompts a four on four brawl that the referee does not even try to break up. It spills over to ringside. Joe ends up hitting his "ole, ole" kicks on Orlando Jordan, while the Bashams and Aries/Strong disappear into the crowd. JBL is able to keep Corino down long enough to crack a chair across the back of Joe's skull, putting him down. As JBL turns around, Corino drop kicks the chair into his forehead, busting him open as well. They brawl around ringside for a few minutes before Corino goes under the ring for a weapon, and pulls out a chair wrapped in barbed wire! He goes to hit JBL with it, but JBL sacrifices his hands and blocks the shot. JBL gains control of the chair and tries to wipe Corino's face with it, further aggrivating the open wound. The action picks up again and JBL hits the Clothesline from Hell, and goes for the cover and it's 1.....2.....no! JBL is furious, but Corino recovers and hits the Old School Expulsion! Corino covers and it's 1......2...... NO! What the hell is going on! It is at this time when Alex Shelley comes running down to the ring! Shelley has been absent for months, despite Aries and Strong trying to contact him. Shelley grabs the steel chair with the barbed wire chair and swings it at Corino! Before his face disappears under a mask of blood, Corino looks at Shelley with a sheer look of disbelief. Shelley then holds Corino still for another Clothesline from Hell from JBL. JBL then covers Corino and it's 1......2.......3! Dammit, JBL defeated Corino at 22:10!
Winner and the unified NEW/CSW Champion: John Bradshaw Layfield
-AJ Styles comes out to the ring for the main event. He looks ready to go. James Gibson comes out next, and is hobbling. His suffered broken ribs on the last Blizzard and now his nose is bandaged up from the attack he suffered at the hands of Chris Jericho earlier tonight. The Midwest challenger is then announced as none other than the HOMICIDAL, GENOCIDAL, DEATH DEFYING SABU! Finally, the NWA World Heavyweight Champion El Hijo Del Santo comes out and the match is ready to begin!
NWA World Heavyweight Championship:
El Hijo Del Santo © vs. James Gibson vs. AJ Styles vs. Sabu
Gibson is the only man in this match to never be the NWA World Champion, so he has a lot to prove in this match, sadly he is in no where near 100% condition. Santo and Gibson start the match off. Santo honorably shakes Gibson's hand, though even Santo is aware of Gibson's injuries and will take advantage of them if necessary. They tie up and Santo works Gibson's arm. Gibson reverses an arm wrench, and it's broken up when they get into the ropes. Sabu makes a blind tag for himself to Santo, and aggressively attacks Gibson. Sabu slams Gibson to the mat and hits a standing senton splash on the injured ribs. Gibson gasps in pain, but cannot make the tag because Sabu is too quick. Sabu springboards off the ropes, splashing himself on Gibson's ribs yet again. Sabu goes for the cover, but AJ Styles breaks it up. Gibson then manages to tag in Santo, who was not impressed with Sabu's violent behavior. Santo hits a series of arm drags and hip tosses on Sabu and finishes up the sequence with a headscissors take down! Santo goes for the cover, but Styles breaks it up again. Sabu regains some control with some punches. Sabu hits a moonsault off the ropes on Santo, but Santo kicks out of a cover attempt. Sabu, satisfied for now, tags in AJ Styles. Styles tries to pick up the pace against Santo, even going for a Styles Clash in the early going. Santo reverses the Clash, and goes for a surprise roll-up. It nearly works, but Styles kicks out with authority. Styles gets some punches in and hits a flying forearm to Santo's head. Styles climbs to the top for a corkscrew, but Santo moves out of the way. With Styles down, Santo goes for the cobra clutch. Styles is about to pass out, when Sabu interupts the submission hold. Santo then tags in Sabu, who continues to work on Styles and his back. Styles takes a beating from Sabu for several minutes, but makes a comeback after Sabu misses a moonsault. Styles tags in Gibson, who hits a series of clotheslines on Sabu. Gibson, despite his injured ribs, hits a vertical suplex and goes for the cover. Sabu kicks out, and hits a nasty drop kick to Gibson's injured nose. Gibson is bleeding again, but it only fires him up. Gibson hits the Gibson Driver on Sabu and Styles breaks up the cover. Gibson tags in Styles by chopping him, which does not sit well and Styles rams Gibson off the apron to the barricade. Santo is disgusted with what he considers to be poor sportsmanship from his opponents and cleans house on Sabu and Styles. Styles and Sabu then team up and set Santo up for a double superplex off the turnbuckle. Gibson then runs in and powerbombs Styles and Sabu who were superplexing Santo, and all three men are down! Gibson is not the legal man, so he cannot cover anyone! The legal men are Styles and Santo, and the match gradually restarts. Styles returns the favor by chopping Gibson back in as the legal man. Sabu wants a tag, but Gibson drop kicks him off the apron. The ref didn't see this apparently, as Sabu is not tagged in. Gibson is suddenly caught off guard by a lariat from Santo. Santo climbs to the top rope, but Styles tries to knock him down. It backfires as Santo kicks Styles off the apron, with his head bouncing off the mat. With all distractions gone, Santo hits the diving headbutt on Gibson and covers him for the 1......2.......3! Santo retains the World title at 27:45!
Winner and still NWA World Heavyweight Champion: El Hijo Del Santo! (88/89/87)
-The show ends with Santo celebrating with his title, while Gibson grasps himself in pain. Sabu and Styles look on in frustration from ringside.
And that's a wrap!
Overall: 81%
Big F'N Swigg - January 9, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
The M-A Match reads like something I would've booked when I was a kid.
Translation: AWESOME!!!
