Title: College Football thread.....

So I'm looking at the
BCS Rankings for this week, and I'm starting to agree that the BCS system is shit.
And it's not just because Tennessee is #11 behind a team they beat earlier this year.

If Tennessee wins out, they'll easily be ahead of Cal.
What other positions don't you like.

You know. I was actually thinking the BCS has been a little more right with their rankings this year. I still hate it but the regular polls have been fucking jokes this year.

Tennesse being behind Cal is my first big complaint, as Tennessee burned them in the opening game this year.
I also don't like LSU so low, and Washington State so high.
EDIT: I also don't like Florida being above Auburn, when Auburn gave them their only loss

I don't think the problem with the BCS is the rankings. The problem is that those rankings decide who plays for the championship. It just makes no since. Div 1-aa is awesome, just because of the playoff.
Big F'N Swigg - November 2, 2006 03:02 AM (GMT)
The problem is A: it's all because of money, and B: it's not a solid way to determine anything.
Take for instance strength of schedule. If Texas and Oklahoma are playing each other, and Texas beats Oklahoma by a wide margin, and Oklahoma loses again that season, Texas is hurt. On both counts. That's ridiculous.

I still think I have the best solution. Keep all of the bowl games. Then use the BCS to decide the BCS Bowls and use those to kick off an 8 team playoff for the National Championship.

If they would just get rid of the computers, I'd be happy with the BCS

Better idea-- take the top 20 teams with the best records. Have all 20 teams play in one Battle Royal Bowl. It'd be like a giant 1400 man Bull-in-the-Ring or Burma Road drill. Last team standing WINS.
Or the BCS could take bribes.
Either way, I'm cool with it.

Nick Saban leaves the Dolphins to coach at Alabama.
Not sure if that's a good idea or not

Found this on a blog, and it amuses me to no end.

Saban with the money bags is AWESOME

As a Tennessee fan, I've been a bit spoiled. But the past few years have really begun to piss me off. It wouldn't be so bad if it were the NFL, because you can lose 2,3 or even 6 games and make the playoffs. But in College you can't lose more than 1. It seems to me that Philip Fulmer has forgotten this. For that, I am irate.

Wow, so many huge upsets this weekend. I was pretty surprised. The biggest would have to be Colorado over Oklahoma. I would have never seen that one coming. Great time to be a college football fan.

This past weekend was indeed crazy. The level of parity in College Football is really making every season interesting, if not heartbreaking

Today's LSU-Arkansas game went into triple overtime and ended up with a 50-48 final score.
Another example of why I hate the stupid "both teams get a fair chance" overtime crap in college football. You'd see that score and think: "wow, I'll bet they had 1200 yards of offense". Nope...it was 28-28 at the end of regulation and 42 needless points were tacked on to the final tally. Really de-values touchdowns scored in regulation when they start doing that crap.

I'm ready for today's Virginia/Virginia Tech showdown. Winner goes to the ACC Championship; loser will probably wind up in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Go Cavs!

Well if that's the case...screw the ACC Championship! I'd throw the game if it meant my team could go to the muthafuckin' Chick-Fil-A Bowl! Think of the incentives they'd pass out. Chicken sandwiches, those waffle fries, that polynesian sauce.
Big F'N Swigg - November 26, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
Damn corporate bowls...
And the LSU-Arkansas game was followed by a Tennessee-Kentucky game that went nearly five hours into Quadruple Overtime. Real nail biter.
