Wrestling Observer

-Professional Hack, and former WWE Booker Dave O'Neill, is booking Dana White's Pro Wrestling Venture, Total Pro Wrestling, that's debuting a weekly PPV, as soon as they get PPV Clearance. We've only got three names so far

-Ric Converse (AWA Champion)
-Steve Wilkos, yes, the bodyguard from the Jerry Springer Show
-Kurt Lauder, a Canadian worker who was actually convicted of murder two weeks ago. He hasn't gone to court yet and they want to milk a bit of publicity

QUOTE

AWA-Total Pro PPV will airon Thursday Nights on INdirect PPV
Week.1 will air live from Detroit. Week 2 will be taped on friday. This is the model they're going to adopt for the first few weeks.

-Partial Card
-A Two ring, "King Of The Hill" Battle Royal. When You're eliminated from Ring One, you go into Ring two. The winner Of Ring One takes on the winner of Ring two takes on Ric Converse, for the AWA Title.
-Kurt Lauder will wrestle someone.
-A match between two TBA names for the "last spot" in the battle royal
-A major, unnamed ex-WWE name will debut independent of the battle royal, and possibly take on the Champ on week two.
-Zero-One in Japan are sending over some guys to work the show

-Dana White's people want ex-WWE names on the show. Either that or guys like Mana (who does a low-rent Umaga shtick)

-The usual names are already claiming they're going to be a part of things. Buff Bagwell is a "possible" - he's friends with O'Neill from his WWE run.

-There will be NO TNA names. No Joe.

-Mike Johnson announced on his myspace he'd be the announcer. They're going to rotate the color gig.

Sounds good. I'm curious to see what you do with Converse and the suspected murderer. You could always pay tribute to the Katie Vick angle and just have Triple H show up for one show to say "Kurt Lauder... you are a murderer!"

Thanks for the encouragement ALREADY, Ernie. As for the HHH thing - it's funny, but I'm shooting for a bit of realism this time. Lauderdale will wrestle Norman Smiley on the show

Add Takao Omori vs. Hirotaka Yokoi to the show, and Tadao Yasuda to the battle royal

The AWA-TPW website is plugging a "Major name from Hollywood" as appearing on the show. It's Bob Sapp. Probably. Similarily the wrestler "seen on MTV" is Brian Knobs

A deal for AWA-TPW to bring in Warrior fell through

Sean O'Haire will work the show, against Mana

QUOTE
The ICP are working the show, against an unnamed tag team (who will possibly be a pisstake of the Spirit Squad

Steve Wilkos, the former Jerry Springer bodyguard, who became a wrestler, will have an on-screen gimmick as "Head Of Security" while he goes through the AWA's version of developmental

QUOTE
Goldylocks, the ex-TNA manager/interviewer/rat is working the show, first in a "Swimsuit Showdown", but they'll use her as a mangager after that

The opening match will be Lenny Lane and Lodi vs. Kidman (not using that name) and Christian York

I like how you're using the weekly ppv format, I actually sort of miss them from the early TNA days (though I don't miss having to shell out ten bucks for them each week). Plus, I like how you're using Dana White and the AWA, it makes it stand out.

And hurray for the return of the wrestler formerly known as Kidman!

As for the weekly PPV thing. Thanks. Playing tons of EWR games - I find I'm at my best when I've one roster - booking week to week. I have a WWE game running and juggling two rosters, three tv shows and a monthly PPV makes my head hurt.

BTW, don't expect this to be a full time thing - I'm working two jobs - possibly getting a new one - so this is just a free-time thing that'll get posted when i have the time.

SamoaRowe - August 3, 2006 01:44 PM (GMT)
Quite understandably so. My old WWE game is on hiatus for who knows how long for the same reasons (that, and I'm doing NEW now).

But really, the effort is appreciated.

This sounds great, and Dave's diaries are always good reads. Looking forward to it.
