University of Missouri Campus. Columbia, Missouri.
Pre-Show
A video opens the show. A plain black screen with text over it:
in•sur•gen•cy
n.
1. The quality or circumstance of being rebellious.
2. An instance of rebellion; an insurgence.
Generation Next’s formation, and the way they closed the last Cyclone in control is shown on the screen. More text fills the screen:
specifically : a condition of revolt against a recognized government that does not reach the proportions of an organized revolutionary government and is not recognized as belligerency
Clips are shown dating back to the first two episodes of Cyclone, in the CSW Championship tournament, where X-pac defeated Alex Shelley, Road Dogg defeated Roderick Strong, and Billy Gunn defeated Austin Aries. Clips of the next 3 months are shown, showing the rise of Degeneration X, and their reformation with Triple H. More text:
n : an organized rebellion aimed at overthrowing a constituted government through the use of subversion and armed conflict
The word ARMED glistens as a shot of Samoa Joe fills the screen. We see clips of Joe destroying the Undertaker on Cyclone, and then the finishing shot of Joe dehooding and locking in the Kokina Clutch on Triple H.
INSURGENCY
The PPV opens with a shaky camera shot running through the backstage area. As the camera reaches the backdoor, we see Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, and Samoa Joe slugging it out next to a limousine with Triple H, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, and X-pac. They’re fighting all around the parking lot and on the limousine. Officials quickly run out and force a separation of the two teams. Both teams are in street clothes, and it looks as though DX has just arrived. President Bret Hart even shows up, quietly looking over and assessing the situation. The teams finally calm down when they see the lone authority figure in CSW. Generation Next heads inside, while DX grabs their bags out of the limo.
Styles: The chaos that plagued the last episode of Cyclone has spilled over here tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised if these teams were fighting at Hertz when they went to pick up their rental cars earlier today. This main event, and the whole show, is going to be electric. Let’s head inside, and get it underway/

Opening Contest: Low Ki v Jimmy Yang
Low Ki and Jimmy Yang start the night off at straight up 7 o clock with an amazing match. Unfortunately, the building was only about half full at the time, due to an issue with ticketing and the people working the gates. It was ironed out, but most of the crowd didn’t get in until right as the match was finishing. The match started off with Ki and Yang exchanging hot martial arts sequences in the middle of the ring, with Yang actually getting the better of Ki for a brief moment. Yang whipped Ki to the corner, and followed with a hard dropkick to the knees, dropping Ki to his face on the mat. Yang got another head of steam, and connected with a dropkick right to the top of Ki’s head, crotching him into the ring post. Ki escaped to the outside, doubled over in pain. Yang took this opportunity to bounce off the ropes, and then hit a springboard somersault plancha onto Ki in the aisle. The crowd, although still small, popped huge as Yang through Ki back in around the 6 minute mark. The great pure match continued with Yang on the attack. He nailed a Michinoku Driver on Ki for a near fall, and then went up top. He perched on the top, and dove off, but Ki moved out of the way. Yang was one step ahead of him though, and rolled through on the mat, getting to his feet immediately. Unfortunately for him, he turned around directly into a vicious Low Ki roundhouse to the head, knocking him down face first on the mat. As he crawled to his knees, Ki hit a delayed downward kick strike to the back of his head. 1....2...kickout by Yang. Ki climbed to the top rope, and looked like he was going for the Double Stomp. But Yang sprung to his feet, and jumped up to the top with no assist from the ropes, grabbing Ki, and nailing a top rope Falcon Arrow into a pin. 1....2....NO! Ki gets the shoulder up. Yang puts the boots to Ki, looking for an opening to finish it off.
10 minutes in now, and Yang bounces off the ropes, and goes for a sunset flip. Ki won’t go down, and jumps straight up into the air, an amazing vertical leap, and nails a double stomp on Yang’s chest. 1....2..Yang kicks out! Ki backs into a corner, and waits for Yang to get to his feet. He rushes at him, and nails a shotgun dropkick right to the chest, sending Yang flying into the turnbuckle. Ki picks him up and takes him into the center of the ring, crosses his legs, and takes him up for the Ki Krusher. As he takes him up, Yang floats over behind him, and grabs a waistlock for a german suplex. Ki won’t budge now, and does a standing switch. He nails a hard open palm strike to the back of Yang’s head, stumbling him into the ropes. As he comes back, Ki grabs him, takes him up, and nails the Ki Krusher. 1...2...3!
Low Ki defeats Jimmy Yang by pinfall in 12:55. (73/47/99)
Post Match: Ki looks at the crowd, most of which are now in their seats. Many people are applauding the amazing effort in the match, but Ki retains his scowl on his face. He steps through the ropes, but then stops before his last leg goes through. He looks back at Yang, still on the ground, and climbs up to the top rope. He perches for a bit, and then jumps off, nailing the Double Foot Stomp directly to the chest. Ki walks away from the ring, ignoring the people.
Tazz: What a great contest. I’m not so sure the last Double Stomp was necessary, but hell, I like it. Low Ki has rediscovered his animalistic side, and it looks like he might be on a tear for a while here in CSW. Don’t forget, he is the current Cyclone Spotlight holder, so we’re gonna see him bright and early on Saturday Night this week. Who’s gonna stop him?
Hardcore Match: Nova v New Jack
New Jack makes his way down to the ring first, looking pissed off as usual. Nova comes out next, and is a wildman, rushing straight into the ring with a garbage can of his own full of weapons. They don’t waste any time getting into it, as Nova crashes a street sign over the head of New Jack. Nova lays the street sign on the mat, and takes New Jack into it with a drop toehold. He then ties up his arms, positions his foot on his head, and gives him the Curb Stomp right into the sign. 1...2...kickout by New Jack. Nova stays on the offensive, grabbing a trash can and heading to the top rope. He wastes a bit too much time with the crowd, as New Jack shoves the ref into the ropes, crotching Nova on the top. He still holds the trash can, which proves to be a mistake, as New Jack grabs a chair and wallops the trash can right into Nova’s face, sending him tumbling to the outside of the ring. New Jack climbs to the top rope as everyone in the arena holds their breath. He jumps down, but Nova moves, sending New Jack face first into the guardrail. Nova grabs the now mangled trash can, and mashes it off of New Jack’s back. A fan hands Nova a beer, and Nova smashes it over New Jack’s head. Nova throws him back into the ring at the 4 minute mark, and grabs an old Boombox out of his trashcan. He holds it up to his head, strutting a bit, and then smashes it into a hundred peices on New Jack’s head. Instead of covering, he digs back into his trash can again. This time he comes out with a clothes hanger, and changes his demeanor. He attempts to wrap it around New Jack’s throat, but New Jack mule kicks him right in the nuts, dropping him. New Jack goes outside the ring and grabs a table, sliding it in. He then grabs another one, and slides it into the ring as well.
The Finish: He sets the first one up near the turnbuckle, and lays Nova on top of it. He climbs to the top rope, but Nova rolls off the table, and goes up top, where he nails a belly to belly suplex all the way over the table, and onto the exposed legs of the other. Nova looks to the crowd and signals that it is over. He kicks New Jack off of the table, and opens it as well, setting it on top of the other table, making a double stack near the corner. Nova takes New Jack onto the ring apron, and climbs up top with him in tow. It looks like a powerbomb from the top rope through the double stack. New Jack is reaching into his boot as Nova prepares. He has the fork! New Jack stabs Nova in the side with the fork, and then drops it. He raises up, Nova now on his back, and tucks Nova’s head under his arm. New Jack then leaps off the ropes, hitting what can best be describe as the sloppiest Emerald Fusion ever, crashing through both tables, and sending wood flying everywhere. He covers. 1...2...3! New Jack wins!
New Jack defeats Nova by pinfall in 9:56. (76/77/74)
Post-Match: When New Jack is able to regain his faculties, he heads outside the ring and retireves his fork from the ground. He heads back in the ring, and picks Nova up by the head, shouting at him. “You want hardcore? You don’t get in the ring with the only hardcore icon in CSW and live to talk about it. Prepare to die Nova”. As he aims the fork at the forehead of Nova, he is suddenly cut off. The opening guitar riff of ”ENTER SANDMAN” begins building throughout the arena. New Jack slowly rises up from his position over Nova, and braces himself for a fight. He waits, and waits, and waits, but nothing comes, as the song hits it’s chorus with the fans in the audience singing along. New Jack says “F**k this circus” and walks down the aisle, leaving as the Metallica anthem continues playing.
Styles: Is the Sandman in CSW? Or is some 16 year old having fun in the control booth? Either way, New Jack definitely seemed bothered by those hijinks, and it stopped him dead in his tracks. Good thing too, or we could’ve been calling an ambulance for Nova. On thing is for sure: New Jack is as hardcore as he needs to be. A brutal match.
Full Blooded Italian’s (Little Guido & Tony Mamaluke) w/Joel Gertner v The World’s Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas)
The FBI make their way down to the ring first, and Joel Gertner grabs a microphone.
Gertner: Hello Columbia. College Campus. Coeds. Dormitories. Oh the stories I could make here. Yes, it is I, the Quintessential Studmuffin himself. Joel, “I make em purr like a—
Gertner is cut off by the familiar but long-dead strains of the music of the World’s Greatest Tag Team. They walk out into the aisle, and look at each other, and then sprint for the ring, kickstarting the match. Haas and Benjamin wail on the FBI, knocking from the ring, and leaving Joel Gertner standing in the ring alone. He begins flailing his arms about, throwing a tantrum from being cut off from his spiel. Haas & Benjamin grab him and toss him over the top rope to a huge pop. They head to their corner, and the match gets started in a more controlled fashion, with Haas & Guido starting out the match. Haas and Guido put on quite a wrestling exhibition to open up, with each man countering the other’s offense, only to have it end with a Haas armdrag. Guido pounds the mat in frustration, and tags in Mamaluke. Mamaluke tries his hand with Haas as well, only to again have it end with an armdrag. Mamaluke points to Benjamin, and Haas gladly obliges to a large reaction from the audience. Benjamin comes in, and begins another wrestling sequence with Mamaluke. Benjamin rolls over his back, and paintbrushes the back of his head, causing him to bail into the waiting arms of Joel Gertner. The crowd really lets him have it as the two men embrace on the outside. Mamaluke heads back into the ring, and challenges Benjamin to a test of strength. Benjamin gladly accepts, but before he even gets his hand up, Mamaluke nails a standing dropkick right to the face of Benjamin. That was the opening the FBI needed, as they take control and work Benjamin into a pulp with quick tags.
Around the 5 minute mark, Guido tags in, and picks Benjamin up, where Mamaluke bounces off the ropes and nails the Hart Attack clothesline. 1....2..kickout by Benjamin. They stay on Benjamin, with Guido going up top for the Sicilian Slice. Benjamin cuts his knees out from under him on the top, crotching him. He climbs up, and tries a superplex, but Mamaluke sneaks over and holds onto Guido’s legs, leaving Benjamin to fall back onto the mat alone. Guido then climbs up, and nails a big legdrop from the top rope. 1...2...kickout again by Benjamin. Haas stomps on the apron, getting the crowd going. Guido works a dragon sleeper on Benjamin, and Benjamin is eventually able to powerout, and nail a running powerslam to break the hold. He crawls towards his corner, and finally tags Haas into the match. Haas is a house of fire, running over both members of FBI with hard double forearm shots. Haas catches Guido and takes him back with a release German suplex, and then the same for Mamaluke.
The Finish: Guido turns right into an Exploder, and Haas nails it and covers. The crowd counts 1...2....3....4....5...but Joel Gertner is up on the apron, and the ref hasn’t made the count. Shelton Benjamin runs into the ring, and coldcocks Gertner, dropping him to the ground below. The ref turns around and counts the fall. 1...2...kickout by Guido. Mamaluke runs at Benjamin, but Shelton backdrops him over the top, Mamaluke doing a spectacular flip to the outside. Haas picks up Guido, and waistlocks him again, but Guido does a standing switch, trying a german suplex of his own. Haas does one more standing switch, and Shelton Benjamin nails a superkick right to the face of Guido, and Haas takes him back with a German Suplex in one swift motion, bridging. 1...2....3!!! World’s Greatest Tag Team gets the win in their return match.
WGTT defeats FBI when Charlie Haas pins Little Guido in 10:02. (82/74/91)
Post-Match: Benjamin and Haas embrace in the ring, and then raise their arms along with the referee, celebrating their return to the tag team ranks. The climb the turnbuckles and celebrate along with the crowd, as the FBI and Gertner makes their way down the aisle, defeated.
Tazz: How bout that Styles? The World’s Greatest Tag Team returns to the ring, and looks like they haven’t missed a step. When you have a bond, you have it, and these guys translate that wonderfully into the ring. Great teamwork, and a great victory.
Kansas City Border Championship Match:
Petey Williams © w/Trish Stratus v Psicosis
Psicosis makes his way out first to a very nice reaction from the crowd. He flips over the ropes into the ring as he is announced. Petey makes his way down next, with his manager, Trish Stratus, on his arm. Trish carries the KC Border Championship, and holds the ropes open for Petey, and he returns the favor. The referee holds the title in the air, and the match is underway. A nice mat wrestling sequence opens the contest, with Petey getting the better of Psicosis, and locking in a front face lock. Psicosis wriggles free, and nods to Petey, realizing he isn’t just all talk. They lock up again, and Petey backs Psicosis into the corner. The ref calls for a clean break, but Petey stays locked up. Finally, the referee wriggles in between the two, and Petey nails a hard slap to the face of Psicosis. The crowd oohs, and Psicosis runs at Petey, taking him down to the mat, and pummeling him with right hands. They roll under the bottom rope and onto the floor, where they continue pounding each other. Psicosis gets to his feet first, and goes back in the ring. He climbs to the top rope as Petey slowly gets to his feet. Psicosis prepares to jump, but Petey pulls Trish Stratus into the way, stopping Psicosis. He steps back off of the ropes as the crowd boos Petey. Petey rolls back into the ring, and they circle each other. Petey whips Psicosis into the ropes, and nails a hard clothesline. He doesn’t waste any time, picking up Psicosis, and setting him up for the Canadian Destroyer. But Psicosis easily wiggles out, and slides under the bottom rope. Petey runs at him with a baseball slide, but Psicosis sidesteps, and pulls Petey under the ropes, nailing a hard right hand that drops Petey. Psicosis gets on the apron, and springboard onto the middle rope for an Asai Moonsault. Before he can launch, Petey nails him in the back, draping him over the top rope. Petey climbs up on the apron, and grabs Psicosis around the neck. RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP onto the floor. Both men are down, and Trish is over helping her man to his feet. She rolls him into the ring, and the ref gets to 5 on Psicosis. The crowd counts along. 6. Psicosis crawls to his knees. 7. He grabs the ring apron. 8. He launches himself up and into the ring. Petey covers. 1...2...kickout by Psicosis.
At the 8 minute mark, Petey hits a nice huracanrana, stunning Psicosis. He again tries the destroyer, but Psicosis won’t budge. Petey tries again, but Psicosis is stiff. Petey’s look changes as a light goes off in his head. He pounds down on the back of Psicosis with hard right elbows. Elbow strike after elbow strike right into the spine of Psicosis. Psicosis drops to the mat, and Petey picks him back up, nailing 3 consecutive backbreakers without letting go. He then nails a russian legsweep, this time in the ring. Psicosis is grimacing in pain, and holding his back. Petey straps on a bow and arrow, and Psicosis barely reaches the rope with his hand. At the 10 minute mark, Petey puts on a Boston Crab, and Psicosis looks like he is going to tap, but again just gets his fingertips on the bottom rope. Petey places him on the top rope, looking for the big finish.
The Finish: Petey climbs up, grabbing Psicosis for a top rope fisherman’s suplex. Psicosis fires off a few rapid shots to the stomach of Petey Williams, and then headbutts Petey, dropping him off the top. Psicosis positions himself, and looks down at Petey, who is in perfect position. He leaps off and nails the Guillotine Legdrop. He grabs his own back as he ties up Petey’s arm. He steps over the arm, and spins around, going for the Magistral Cradle. As he flips over, Petey rolls through, grabbing Psicosis’s legs, and locking in the Sharpshooter. He turns it over, and Psicosis is right in the middle of the ring. He has no choice but to tap.
Petey Williams defeats Psicosis by submission in 13:32 to retain the KC Border Championship. (86/78/95)
Post-Match: Petey rolls out of the ring and is greeted by a kiss from Trish, who straps the KC Border Title around his waist. They leave ringside together to the boos of the CSW faithful.
Styles: Another great match here on Insurgency. They pulled out all the stops, and I’m especially impressed by Petey. Even though he loves that Canadian Destroyer, he is a skilled mat technician as well. The minute he saw the opening, he changed gears, and went straight for Psicosis’ back, finishing him off with that Sharpshooter.
CSW Tag Team Championship Match:
Natural Born Thrillers © v Ken Shamrock & Brent Albright
Albright and Shamrock enter first, looking very intense and focused. The huddle in the corner, talking strategy. The announcers show a pretaped interview from the two, earlier in the day:
| QUOTE |
Shamrock: Not only is this a huge opportunity for me to get some gold back around my waist here in the NWA, but it is a great opportunity for Brent Albright. You see, I didn’t involve myself with Brent Albright by mistake. Sure, we first linked up in Battlebowl, a chance encounter. But in that match I saw something in him. Something raw. Something natural. Something god given. He is an amazing mat wrestler. And now, this match gives him a chance to prove that he is more than just a mat wrestler. He is the complete package. We’ve gone through weeks of intense training, preparing for an opportunity like this. You may be the Champions, but you won’t see intensity like we’re prepared to give tonight Natural Born Thrillers. Brent?
The camera focuses on Albright’s serious, yet intense face, which is almost shaking.
Albright: No........Mercy.
|
The announcers talk about hearing how Brent Albright will be debuting a new finishing maneuver tonight, something reportedly more “vicious” than before. The Champions make their way out next, with their titles strapped firmly around their waists. They hit the ring to their introductions, and Albright starts off with O’Haire. Albright immediately targets the right arm of O’Haire, taking him to the mat with am armdrag, and locking on an armbar. Everything Albright does looks like it just hurts a little more, like he really would rip your arm off if given the oppurtunity. Albright wrenches the arm, and again locks on an armbar. O’Haire manages a thumb to the eye, breaking the hold. O’Haire backs into his corner, looking at Albright, and surprised. He shakes the feeling back into his arm, and tags in Mark Jindrak. Jindrak tries his hand at Albright, and Albright reaches for the arm. Jindrak braces, and Albright nails a drop toehold, and then drags Jindrak by the leg to his corner, where he tags in Shamrock. Shamrock also focuses immediately in on a body part, this time the right leg of Jindrak. Shamrock goes into a single leg grapevine, wrenching on the knee and ankle of Mark Jindrak. Jindrak reaches the ropes, and he tags out as well, shaking his leg on the outside. Shamrock goes for a single leg on O’Haire, but the larger of the tag champs, stops him cold with a hard forearm to the back. O’Haire takes over with his power, flooring Shamrock with consecutive knee strikes. He whips him off the ropes, and nails a huge clothesline. 1....2..kickout. O’Haire tags in Jindrak at the 6 minute mark, and they hit a double suplex on Shamrock, followed by a jumping legdrop by Jindrak. 1...2..kickout by Shamrock. Jindrak whips Shamrock off the ropes, and tries a backdrop, but Shamrock stops, and rolls him up in a small package. 1...2..kickout. Jindrak quickly jumps on Shamrock, upset that he almost pulled a fast one. Jindrak whips him into the corner, and then nails him with right hand after right hand, slowly dropping him to the mat. Jindrak tags in O’Haire, and they whip Shamrock to the opposite buckle. Jindrak then whips O’Haire in, who nails a vicious clothesline, and Jindrak charges himself with a high knee to the face. Shamrock is in a world of hurt, as the two set up for another double suplex.
Albright has seen enough, and charges in, but the referee intercepts him. Jindrak and O’Haire take this opportunity to choke Shamrock over the top rope. O’Haire picks up Shamrock, and nails a fallaway slam. 1...2..kickout again by Shamrock. O’Haire makes another frequent tag to Jindrak, and Jindrak whips Shamrock off of the ropes. Jindrak leapfrogs, and Shamrock is on the way back. Jindrak leapfrogs again, but this time, comes down on his right leg, hobbling a bit. Shamrock sees the opportunity, and cuts his right knee out from under him. Shamrock crawls towards his corner for the tag at the 9 minutes mark, but Jindrak grabs ahold of his leg. Jindrak is able to stop him, and grab ahold of him. He lifts Shamrock for a slam, but Shamrock floats behind him, cuts him down, and slaps on the Anklelock! Jindrak is in pain, but O’Haire quickly blindsides Shamrock. Shamrock crawls quickly with a burst of energy to the corner, and hot tags in Albright!
The crowd goes nuts as Albright cleans house on the tag champs. He clotheslines O’Haire over the top rope, and isolates Jindrak. He nails a vicious brainbuster, and rolls through. He hits another, and rolls through one more time. He hooks the leg this time, and nails a fisherman’s buster. He covers. 1...2...Jindrak barely kicks out. The announcers again talk about Albright’s new finisher, wondering if that was it, as Albright picks up Jindrak. He tosses him into a fireman’s carry on his shoulder, but Shamrock yells from the apron at Albright. “Go back to the ankle!”. Albright has a brief moment of confusion, and it is enough to give O’Haire time to sneak into the ring and cut Albright’s legs from under him. Jindrak falls on top. 1...2...kickout by Albright. Jindrak picks up Albright, and nails the Widow’s Peak Neckbreaker. Both men are down and winded however. Jindrak crawls to his corner, as does Albright.
The Finish: Albright ties Jindrak’s ankle with his two legs, and actually pulls him towards his corner as he slaps Shamrock’s hand. Shamrock comes in and immediately goes to the anklelock on Jindrak as O’Haire has no choice but to look on. Jindrak looks very close to tapping, and reaches for the ropes, but he can’t quit get them. O’Haire reaches his long arm out, grabbing Jindrak’s, and reaching the ropes. The ref has to call for the break. Jindrak is in serious pain at the 13:00 minute mark, and he is untying the strings on his right boot. Shamrock backs away as the ref checks on Jindrak. Albright is now yelling at Shamrock. “Don’t let up! Stay on him”. Shamrock looks and tries to calm Albright as the ref checks the leg. Jindrak slides his boot off, and O’Haire drops to the apron, giving him a foot massage. The crowd lets them have it with all kinds of derogatory chants, but Jindrak seems satisfied, and slips his boot back on. Shamrock quickly attacks, and nails a German Suplex. He grabs hold of the ankle, Jindrak in the middle of the ring, facing directly towards his partner O’Haire. Shamrock wrenches the ankle, but suddenly Jindrak’s boot flies off, and Shamrock stumbles backwards, right into Albright, sending him flying off of the apron and into the guardrail. Shamrock stumbled forward with the boot in his hand, right into a small package. 1...2....3! The Thrillers retain!!!
Thrillers defeat Shamrock & Albright when Mark Jindrak pins Ken Shamrock at 17:45 to retain the CSW Tag Team Titles. (86/89/82)
Post-Match: The Thrillers grab their titles, and Jindrak picks up his boot, as he limps down the aisle still a champion. They walk through the curtain getting booed and belted with a piece or two of garbage. Albright emerges from the floor, bleeding from his mouth. Upon replay, he nailed the guardrail face first when Shamrock was propelled into him. Albright gets into the ring, and looks upset with his mentor. “Intensity? You just lost us the match!” Shamrock turns and looks at Albright, not knowing what to make of the disrespect. They go face to face for a brief moment, but cooler heads prevail. Albright looks satisfied, and puts his hand out for a handshake. “Sorry, you’re right.” Shamrock shakes his hand, and Albright hangs his head a bit, disappointed in the missed opportunity. Shamrock places his hand on Albright’s shoulder, patting it. Out of nowhere, Albright scoops Shamrock up onto his shoulders in a fireman’s carry. He launches Shamrock over his head into the front, driving his knee upwards right into Shamrock’s forehead at the same time. GO TO SLEEP!!! That’s Albright’s new finisher, and he just nailed it on Shamrock. Albright looks down at Shamrock, who looks to be legitimately out. He drops to the mat, and slaps on the crowbar, pulling back on the unconscious arm of Ken Shamrock. He pulls back farther than any arm appears it should go, and just won’t let up. He is screaming as blood flies out of his mouth. 4 or 5 officials rush the ring and pull him off of Shamrock’s lifeless body. Albright pushes them away, and goes through the ropes, walking to the back without saying a word. He wipes his mouth on his forearm, looking at the blood as he walks away. Shamrock just starts to come to in the ring, his arm draped at his side as officials pull him up.
Tazz: My god Joey, what a night this is ending up to be. A great match for the CSW Tag Team Titles, a bit overshadowed by the aftermath. What just got into that kid? I hate to say it, but I think Ken Shamrock might have just created a monster.
First Blood Match: #1 Contender to the CSW Championship:
Steve Corino v Brock Lesnar
Corino makes his way out first, to a huge reaction from the crowd. They damn near boo Corino out of the builing, and he largely ignores it, focused on his match that could earn him a chance at the CSW Championship. He has Mr. Brown and Monster C with him, but as he hits the ring, the referee stops him cold, and sends his two associates to the back. All 3 protest, but the referee wins and gets rid of them. Brock Lesnar’s music hits, and he is out next. The crowd goes insane as Lesnar walks through the curtain, his head heavily bandaged. He has a huge wrap around his thread, covering the gash that Corino’s buddies opened up last night on Cyclone. The announcers talk about what a disadvantage he is at, having that fresh wound on his head. Lesnar stands at the top of the aisle, and walks his way down, taking big steps the whole way. The crowd picks up on it, and begins counting his steps, starting at 1, and climbing all the way 100 as he reaches the area right outside the ring. Lesnar draws an imaginary line with his foot, and steps over it to a huge ovation from the crowd. He jumps up on the apron, and Corino immediately attacks him as the referee calls for the bell.
Corino knocks Lesnar back off of the apron, and then sligshots himself over the top onto Lesnar. Lesnar catches him, and rams him back first into the ringpost. He holds on, and does it again. He flips Corino onto his shoulder, and powerslams him on the mat outside the ring, leaving Corino writhing in pain. Lesnar picks him up and measures him up for the ringpost, but Corino gets his hands up. Lesnar tries again, but Corino blocks one more time. Lesnar looks at Corino, releases him, and clotheslines him, flatbacking Corino on the outside of the ring. Lesnar picks him up again, and whips him into the guardrail hard. The crowd “oohs” as Lesnar charges, but Corino gets a boot up into Lesnar’s face. Corino charges at Lesnar, but Lesnar backdrops him, again letting Corino’s body bounce off of the unforgiving thin mats at ringside. The crowd is enjoying Corino finally getting what he deserves. Lesnar grabs a steel chair, and he might be looking to end it right now. He waits for Corino to get up, and takes a wild swing at him with the chair. Corino ducks, and Lesnar nails the ringpost with the chair, mangling it. Corino slides into the ring, just to be away from the floor on the outside.
Lesnar follows him in at the 7 minute mark, but Corino cuts him off, and puts the boots to him. He attempts to get to that bandage on his head, but Lesnar is wisely covering up. Corino however sees the opening, and pounds away at Lesnar’s rock hard midsection. Any time Lesnar drops his guard, Corino takes a shot at the head, but Lesnar covers up again. Lesnar eventually weakend from the repeated shots, and Corino takes him to the corner, where he slams him head into the top turnbuckle 10 times in a row. Lesnar stumbles backwards, and Corino takes advantage, running him over with a clothesline. Corino turns his attention to the turnbuckle that he just nailed Lesnar on, and undoes the turnbuckle pad, tossing it down at ringside. He picks up Lesnar and runs towards the buckle, but Lesnar reverses, and sends Corino face first into the buckle. Corino bounces off like a spring, and falls to the mat where the referee checks him. “NO BLOOD”.
The match continues at the 11:00 minute mark, with Lesnar taking control with power moves. His plan is obviously to weaken Corino to a state where he can bust him open. Lesnar tosses a chair into the ring, and nails Corino over the back with it. He tosses it on to the mat, and grabs Corino for a powerbomb. He takes him up, but Corino rakes his eyes. Corino is in a seated position on Lesnar, and manages to undo the wrapping covering Lesnar’s head. Lesnar drops him as Corino digs his fingers at the exposed bandage covering the wound. Lesnar ducks away as Corino picks up the steel chair. He nails Lesnar right in the head and falls backwards, taking a breather. The ref checks Lesnar. “NO BLOOD”.
Corino goes to ringside, grabbing the ringbell and the hammer used to ring the bell. He heads into the ring with the ringbell and the hammer in hand. He looks at the items in his hands, and tosses the ringbell into the corner. He takes the hammer and approaches Brock Lesnar. Corino nails him in the midsection with it, and then drops him with a DDT. He heads to the middle rope with the hammer in hand, and measures up Lesnar’s head. He leaps off, but Lesnar sticks him foot up, nailing Corino in the jaw, and sending the hammer flying. Lesnar crawls over and grabs the ring bell. He charges at Corino, but Corino ducks, and they both spill over the top rope and to the floor, the bell DINGing as it hits the ground.
At the 15:00 minute mark, Lesnar is to his feet first, and he scoops Corino’s legs and positions him for a slingshot into the guardrail. He falls back, sending Corino flying facefirst into the guardrail. The ref jumps out and checks Corino quickly. “NO BLOOD”. Corino’s impact into the guardrail jarred it loose from it’s attachment to the others, pushing the front row back a few feet. Lesnar walks over and picks up Corino, looking to drop him over the guardrail, but Corino again digs his hands into the bandage on Lesnar’s head. Lesnar winces in pain and sets Corino down. Corino spots the ring bell, picks it up, nailing Lesnar in the ribs. He then lifts it over his head and crashes down on Lesnar’s skull. Lesnar ducked his head, absorbing the impact on the back of his head, but it may cost him. The ref checks him. “NO BLOOD”, but it does appear Lesnar might be out cold. Corino looks defeated, wondering what he has to do. He pushes a fan away from the guardrail, and slides it away from ringside. He picks it up and pushes it over the top rope and into the ring. What the hell does he have in mind?
Now at the 19:00 minute mark, Corino picks up Lesnar, and rips the bandage from his head, revealing the 21 stitches it took to close the gash from last night. Corino tries to punch, but Lesnar again gets his arm up in the way. Corino busts him in the mouth instead, and slides him into the ring. Corino scoots the guardrail into the middle of the ring, and positions Lesnar. Corino bounces off the ropes, and tries a bulldog onto the guardrail, but Lesnar doesn’t budge, and pushes Corino, sending him flying backfirst onto the guardrail. Lesnar collapses back into the corner, spent, and looking consussed. Corino is huddled in the corner, and Lesnar approaches him. Corino turns around and nails Lesnar with a hard chair shot right in the face. Lesnar falls backwards and the ref checks him. “NO BLOOD”. Corino tells him to look close. “NO BLOOD”. Corino is pissed.
The Finish: He slides Lesnar into the corner, and gets on the second rope. He launches off, Vader-Bomb style, but drops an elbow right on Lesnar’s head. The ref checks. “NO BLOOD”. Corino grabs the chair he just waffled Lesnar with, and lays it right on his face. He climbs the ropes again, standing on the second rope, and bouncing to get some momentum. But Lesnar climbs to hit feet, and nails Corino HARD over the back with the chair. Lesnar climbs under Corino and walks away from the corner with him in a powerbomb position. He powerbombs him down ONTO THE GUARDRAIL! He locks the hands, and takes him up again. ANOTHER POWERBOMB on the guardrail. The back of Corino’s head just bounced off that steel. He locks the hands one more time, taking Corino up, but this time, Corino digs him fingers into Lesnar’s stitches, and reverses, dropping Lesnar face first into the guardrail with a facebuster. THE REF CALLS FOR THE BELL!!!
Lesnar slowly noticed the trail of blood running down his face, and Corino sees it as well. Corino also sees the ref grab Brock Lesnar’s hand and raise it into the air. Corino reaches behind his head, pulling his hand back, and seeing it covered in his own blood. Lesnar is the #1 Contender!!!
Brock Lesnar defeats Steve Corino in 22:03. (95/91/99)
Post-Match: The ref indicates to Corino that he is bleeding from the back of his head, as Corino continues to pull bloody hand after bloody hand from his head. Lesnar attempts to stand, but is woozy. The ref attempts to help him up, but Mr. Brown & Monster C hit the ring before he can. Mr. Brown tosses the referee over the top rope. Corino stands up, a stream of red flowing down his back. The crowd lets out an “oh” as Corino stands up. Brown and C grab Lesnar, who can barely stand, and tie him in the top rope. Corino walks over to Lesnar with his bloody hand and slaps him across the face, blood splattering. Corino continues taking shot after shot at Lesnar who is gushing from his cut. Corino is yelling in his face. “Are you happy Brock? You got my blood. And now you get to taste my blood”. Corino slaps him in the face again with his bloody hand. “You won the match. Barely. But the war will NEVER end.” Corino stumbles a bit and about falls to the ground. Brown and Monster C grab him and assist him to the back as Lesnar passes out, tied in the ropes, dripping blood from his face. Officials rush the ring and untie him, as he collapses on the mat.
Styles: Oh. My. God. What have we just witnessed here? The crowd is speechless, and one of the most brutal and demented matches I’ve ever seen is over. The mat looks like the beaches of Normandy, stained red almost entirely. Thank god we have a ring crew coming to change the mat for the main event, because I feel like I need my shots. Brock Lesnar is the #1 Contender, but he doesn’t look like a winner right now. And I don’t think Corino is done with him yet.
Backstage Segment: Questions
Jeremy Borash is backstage, running with a camera crew to catch up to Brent Albright. Albright is heading out the back door with his duffle bag on his arm. Grisham and the crew run ahead of him, as he doesn’t appear to be stopping.
Borash: Brent! Brent! Can we get some answers? What was that all about tonight with Ken Shamrock? Why’d you brutally attack the man that has been training you for the last month?
Albright doesn’t even break stride, and shoves Grisham down to the ground. The camera man backs away, not wanting the same treatment. Albright continues walking, all the way out of the building. The camera turns on Borash, lying on the ground. He just shrugs, like a douchebag.

Main Event: 8 Man Tag Team Match:
Degeneration X (Triple H, X-pac, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg) v Samoa Joe & Generation Next (Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong)
DX makes their entrance first, standing in the ring, awaiting the arrival of their opponents. Generation Next and Samoa Joe come to the ring together, and slide in, standing in their corner. The ring announcer does full ring introductions for each man, and all 4 men go into a staredown in the center of the ring. Joe face to face with Triple H. Alex Shelley and X-pac in each other’s faces. Billy Gunn and Roderick Strong stare down, and Austin Aries and Road Dogg lock eyes as well. The referee explains that it is a one fall to a finish match, and that the rules will be strictly enforced. No one even seems to be listening to him, and all 8 men are jawing with one another. Road Dogg is especially talkative, and Aries has no choice but to shut him up, throwing the first punch, and kickstarting a wild melee.
All 8 men brawl all around the ring. So much for the referee’s claims that the rules would be strictly enforced. He tries desperately to restore order, but fights are going on all around the ring. Joe and Triple H pummel each other with hard rights and lefts right in front of the announce position. Joe takes advantage, and smashes Triple H’s face off of the announce table. Aries and Road Dogg eventually end up in the ring first, and Aries takes control, nailing a suplex, and following it up with a knee drop. He spins back through the same move, and yells “You wanna see it again?”. He then does the same knee drop in slow motion, nailing the impact right on Road Dogg’s face to a huge pop. Both teams are now standing on their respective side of the ring, and it looks like control has been restored, around the 8 minute mark. Aries tags in Strong, and they double-team Road Dogg, Strong nailing a drop toehold, following by an Aries swinging elbow, and following by a Strong dropkick to the face. Strong tries to lock in a Boston Crab, but Road Dogg crawls quickly the corner and tags in Triple H.
Strong welcomes the challenge, and locks up with Triple H. Triple H hits a few knees to the stomach and overpowers him. He whips him off the ropes, and nails a knee strike to the face. He gloats as the crowd lets him have him. He nails a hard spinebuster, but can’t even get a 2 count before Alex Shelley smacks him in the back of the head. Triple H turns towards Shelley, giving Strong an opening. He spins Triple H around and chops him HARD. He backs him into the Gen Next corner, and chops him 10 times. He tags in Aries. Aries gives him 10 chops as well. Aries tags Shelley. 10 more chops for Triple H. And lastly, Shelley tags Samoa Joe, to a huge reaction. Joe chops Triple H 10 times, and Triple H stumbled out from the corner, his chest looking like fresh meat. He reaches out for the tag, his partners a good 10 feet away, and falls face first to the mat to a big pop. Joe bounces off the ropes, but catches a knee from Billy Gunn in the back. He turns and slaps Billy, dropping him off of the apron. X-pac grabs Joe, as does Road Dogg, and Triple H crawls to the corner and tags Gunn as the rest of DX pounds Joe in the corner as the referee warns them.
At the 12:00 minute mark, Gunn pounds on Joe in the DX corner. He nails a body slam, and follows it up with a high knee drop. He covers, but only 2. Gunn picks him up and locks in a Cobra Clutch, taking Joe to the mat. Joe pounds his foot on the mat, getting the crowd behind him as Generation Next claps along. Joe gets to his feet, and picks Gunn up in a big backdrop suplex. He drops him square on his head, and makes the tag to Alex Shelley. Shelley goes towards Gunn, but Gunn rolls over and quickly tags in X-pac. X-pac leaps over the top rope, and the crowd buzzes, the X-pac-Alex Shelley feud fresh in their minds. They lock up, and Shelley gets the best of him, whipping him off the ropes and nailing a spinning heel kick. He locks in the move affectionately known as the “SkullF**k”, and wraps him legs around X-pac’s head, driving his face into the mat 5 times. Shelley picks up X-pac and throws him off the ropes again, he leapfrogs, but X-pac stops in his tracks behind Shelley, and kicks him squarely in the back of the knee. Shelley drops to the mat in pain, and X-pac targets on the knee. He drops it into the mat hard a few times, and drags him to the DX corner.
At the 17:00 minute mark, He tags in Triple H, and Triple H licks his chops, looking at Shelley’s knee. Triple H goes to work on the knee, draping it over the bottom rope and jumping on it. He locks in a figure four, and has ahold of Billy Gunn’s hand, putting extra pressure on. Shelley knows he can’t give up, but how much more damage can his knee take. The ref continually checks, but never catches DX cheating. Triple H is now fully suspended in the air, holding on to Road Dogg and Billy Gunn’s hands. Aries has seen enough. He rushes accrossed the ring, knocking both Gunn and Road Dogg off of the apron, and stomping Triple H squarely in the face. The ref ushers him back to his corner, and Shelley attempts to stand up. Triple H tags X-pac back in. X-pac rushes Shelley, but Shelley backdrops him over the top rope. Shelley can feel the adrenalin, but knows he should tag. He hobbles off the ropes, and dives over the top rope onto X-pac, clutching his knee in pain. The Outlaws, still on the ground, run around the other side of the ring, and put the boots to Shelley. Strong and Aries quickly climb up on the two top ropes, and launch themselves down on to the crowd of X-pac, Gunn, Dogg, and Shelley. Triple H gets in the ring and bounces off the ropes, but then stops and gives a “yeah right” motion. The crowd boos. Joe steps in behind Triple H as the crowd explodes. Joe grabs Triple H, gets a running start, and LAUNCHES him over the top onto the crowd of bodies. Now the crowd builds in anticipation, as Joe hits the ropes, and flies over the top with a twisting corkscrew plancha, knocking everything down into the entranceway like a set of bowling pins.
At 20:00, the bodies are getting off the floor, and Shelley is the last one up. He tries to stand, but can’t get up. Strong motions for the trainer, and the doctor comes out and helps him to the back. The match will have to continue 4 on 3. Joe is still fighting it out, now with Road Dogg on the floor. He whips him into the corner of the guardrail, and sets him on a chair. The crowd loudly chants “Ole Ole Ole Ole” as Joe gets a running start. Billy Gunn cuts him off though. Joe invites Billy to come get some, and Gunn runs towards him, only to catch a drop toehold. Gunn’s head goes directly into Road Dogg’s nuts, still seated on the chair. Joe gets some running room, and the crowd really starts up the chant now. Joe runs and hits the Ole kick right into Billy Gunn’s ass, pushing his head into Road Dogg’s nuts, making him let out a loud scream. Meanwhile, in the ring, Aries and Triple H are going toe to toe.
Aries whips him to the buckle, but hits boot when he charges. Triple H takes control, targeting the neck of Aries. He chops him down to the mat with a chinlock, and then stomps away at the neck of Aries. He locks in a Camel Clutch, but Aries won’t tap out. Triple H then locks on a bridged Indian Deathlock, really taking it to Aries. Strong comes in and stomps Triple H in the midsection, breaking it up. Triple H waits for Aries to get to his feet, and grabs him for the Pedigree. Aries wiggles free though, and nails a neckbreaker, leaving both guys down. Aries is up to his feet, but instead of tagging out, he charges to the corner, and takes out all of the other 3 members of DX. He picks up Triple H and nails a brainbuster. 1...2...kickout. Aries drags Triple H to the corner, knowing that he has taken the most punishment of the whole DX team. He tags in Roderick Strong.
Strong goes to work on Triple H, nailing a variety of backbreaker at the 25:00 minute mark. Nothing seems to get the job done though, as Triple H continues to kick out. Strong locks in a backbreaker, but Triple H crawls towards his turnbuckle. He can’t quite make it, but X-pac comes off the top rope with a missle dropkick, breaking the hold. Triple H picks up Strong, and nails the Pedigree! He can’t make the cover though, because he is spent. Both men are down in the ring as the ref begins his count. 1.....2.....3.......4......5.....Road Dogg climbs into the ring and drags Triple H towards the corner. As he does, Samoa Joe jumps into the ring and does the same, dragging Strong towards their corner, but pulling him all the way. Joe tags Strong’s lifeless arm, and rushes in, nailing Road Dogg off of the apron. Triple H tags X-pac as Joe nails Billy Gunn as well. X-pac pounds away at Joe’s back with repeated shots, but they don’t seem to even phase Joe. Joe turns and tells X-pac to use the ropes. X-pac bounces off the ropes, flies at Joe, but Joe catches him and plants him with the S-T-Joe.
Joe whips him off the ropes and nails the powerslam. 1...2...kickout. Road Dogg now rushes into the ring. Aries meets him halfway. Billy Gunn runs in. Strong is in as well. All hell has broken lose here again. The Outlaws tumble through the ropes with Aries and Strong. Joe catches X-pac in the choke, and it looks like he is going out. The referee is checking on the tag teams brawling outside the ring, when Triple H sneaks into the ring with his CSW Title and cracks Joe in the back of the head, making him release the hold. X-pac rolls out of the ring, as Triple H disposes of the evidence. Tripe H picks up Joe for the Pedigree, but Aries floors Gunn outside the ring, and rolls into the ring. He grabs Triple H. BRAINBUSTER. Aries goes back outside, and Strong heads into the ring. He takes Triple H on his shoulders. GUTBUSTER!. Triple H is damn near out, and Joe is getting to his feet. The Outlaws pull Joe and Strong from the ring, and slam them into the guardrail. Aries sneaks back in. He picks up the lifeless Triple H and puts him on the top rope at the 30:00 minute mark. He signals for the brainbuster.
The Finish: Aries goes up, but Road Dogg comes and plants him with a powerbomb in the ring. The referee is checking on Strong and Joe who just hit the guardrail, and Billy Gunn grabs the CSW Title. Road Dogg picks up Aries and holds him, and Gunn is gonna run off the ropes. Alex Shelley comes hobbling down the aisle with a crutch in hand, as Billy Gunn heads for the ropes. Shelley pulls the top rope down with his crutch, and Gunn and the title fly over the top rope. Aries headbutts Road Dogg to let him go, and then suplexes him over the top rope, both of them flying over the top. Triple H is still out, just sitting on the top rope, not knowing where he is. Samoa Joe slides into the ring and sees Triple H seated on the top rope. He looks out to the crowd, and they explode. Joe goes over to the corner, scoops Triple H up in the Musclebuster, and NAILS IT in the middle of the ring. He covers. 1........2..........3!!!
Samoa Joe pins Triple H at 33:02. (78/76/80)
Post-Match: Joe, Aries, Strong, and Shelley, on a crutch, celebrate in the ring as the crowd explodes. The referee raises all 4 of their arms as the show comes to a close.
Styles: Samoa Joe has just pinned Triple H, and what a main event match! Generation Next and Samoa Joe have defeated Degeneration X, and Insurgency is in the books! We’ll see you on Cyclone!
