Title: Extreme Professional Wrestling
Description: The Evolution of Extreme

wordtoyourmother - July 8, 2006 07:09 PM (GMT)
Okay, here's the deal. I'm really bummed about PTL because I was looking forward to doing a comedy type fed. I may continue it as a non-NWA diary just because I thought some of the ideas I had were pretty good, I just don't have the time to book a show a week with another diary taking precednce over it, as well as summer classes that are overwhelmingly time consuming.

However, Jamie has read my diary at TCE and I propsed that I bring it over here, but repost shows from the very beginning. I could either do it that way, and post a show a day or something until its finally caught up (I'm currently a 14 months into the future) or I could just start from where I am right now and do month long summaries for you guys. Any thoughts before I post the first show would be nice so I know what you all want.

jamiegeist - July 8, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
Run it from the beginning, but go a little more than a day at a time. A day might be too quick. 2 or 3 days is probably better.

wordtoyourmother - July 10, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
Okay. I've decided to just post each episode, copy and pasted from TCE with the same format and everything. That means some of the early shows will look sloppy, and morever, will be kind of lame compared to where the diary is now.

The really basic backstory is that after the success of One Night Stand and realizing that ECW would never live again, Paul Heyman resigned from the WWE. However, with the money he made from the E and the brand name of ECW on his side, Heyman found a financial base and backing for an entirely new federation. Building on the ECW fame but reinventing the wheel to appeal to the modern fan, Heyman birthed Extreme Professional Wrestling. Unable to successfully work out a TV deal due to Heyman's previous failures and risky nature, EPW was forced to do as TNA had done before them and work weekly pay-per-view cards. The following is the historic rise or monumental failure that was...

E...P...W!

Info:

The basics to this were I started with 400K in my pocket and national overness slightly below TNA, with global overness around the 20s in Japan, and England and 40s in Canada and Mexico. I started with two workers...myself and Paul Heyman.

wordtoyourmother - July 10, 2006 02:00 AM (GMT)
(The unforgettable music hits..."EXTREEEEEEEEEME...PROFESSIONAL...WRESTLING!" Then we blast off for the return of Paul Heyman and Extreme Wrestling, now called EPW, live in Philadelphia, birthplace of the Extreme Revolution, for a crazy night of wrestling action. Instead of Joey Styles, Dave Prazak and Joel Gertner are on mic for this amazing night.)

Prazak: Welcome to the debut of EPW, the starting point for a new era of extreme. And by my side is a remnant of the first wave, Joel Gertner.

Joel: Dave, shut the hell up and let me talk. I know this stuff. This is my home baby, and I'm glad to have it back full time. ECW One Night Only on WWF or E or whatever the hell...it was a sham. This is the real deal, and we're taking wrestling back one match at a time.

Prazak: And we've got matches in store tonight. You're going to see some great debuts and a lot of familiar faces tonight. Let's get...

(Without further ado, "A Welcome Burden" by Distrubed blares and all the fans in the arena go fucking nuts for one of ECW's biggest heels, Steve Corino. Corino comes marching out to a thunderous ovation, the first of the long list of ECW names to be here tonight.)

Corino: For those of you who don't know who I am...go the fuck home, because you're not welcome here. For those of you who do know who I am, welcome back.

(The fans go nuts again.)

Corino: Now, we all know who ECW was, and we all know who EPW is going to be. And you're looking at him right here. Paul Heyman came to me first to rebuild his precious federation, and like a good boy, I accepted because EPW just wouldn't be wrestling without me. Hell, it wouldn't be professional without me either. So I'm out here to find out who else is on this roster so I can put them in their place. Tonight, I'm issuing an open challenge to anyone who wants a piece of this.

(The lights dim and "Comalies" by Lacuna Coil hits. From the back emerges a Japanese wrestling hero, Ultimo Dragon. The fans bring the place down, giving a bigger pop than for Corino. Ultimo Dragon walked down to the ring focussed, then entered and stared Corino in the eyes. The two stared each other down seriously before officials came to break it up. The main event was in place.)

Joel Gertner: What a fucking match this is going to be! Corino and Dragon, a battle of two of the most incredible names in wrestling today. I'm in utter shock.
