| The Scrooge McSheets Issue #2: DWB NWA: Saturday Night Updates: - New England Wrestling Saturday Night featured a "Best of" Episode this week due to unfortunate incidents that couldn't be controlled. Featuring highlights from matches including the Rock vs. Sonny Siaki, Kane & Big Show vs. Team 3-D, The Undertaker vs. Gregory Helms, and the Rock N Sock Connection vs. Jericho, Flair, and Siaki. Considering the nature of the show, it would be unfair to compare ratings from previous weeks, so I won't bother including the rating for the NEW Recap Show. Hopefully next week NEW can bounce back from the pounding of Mother Nature and put on a good show... without dressing someone up as Mother Nature and kicking her ass. - NWA Mexico's Saturday Night, pulling in a 2.03 rating and nearly 2,000 fans in attendance, pulled off a pretty good show with plenty of matches from top to bottom worth catching. Most noteworthy is the questionable finish to the Latin Lover/Juventud Guerrera Hair vs. Hair Match, which saw Lover victorious, but Juventud leaving with his hair after a disgraceful act looked down about by Lucha Libre. Also on the card, L.A. Par-K, Mr. Aguila, Virus, Ultimo Guerrero, and Dr. Wagner Jr. all were victorious in 1st Round Tournament matches for the Mexican National Title. - Midwest Saturday Night produced identical numbers of what NWA Mexico did, a 2.03 rating and an attendance of slightly over 2,000 fans. As speculated last week, the main event between Chris Benoit and Bill Alfonso did end with an inconclusive finish with someone, in this case, Sabu, running in and beating the tar out of Benoit. Other highlights of the show included the debut of Roddy Piper, and the Chair Swinging Freaks going over a couple of guys who deserve better than being squashed by these hardcore losers. - Central States Wrestling put on another good show, despite a miniscual drop in ratings, dropping a small percentage of a point with a final number of 2.14, still good enough for the best rating of the week between the NWA Promotions. With Battlebowl beginning this week, we saw a wide variety of tag teams competing, including the likes of Brock Lesnar & Steve Corino, Petey Williams & Billy Kidman, Maven & Austin Aries, and CIMA & Psicosis advancing into the next stage of the tournament. In the show's main event, Paper Champion Jeff Jarrett went over Ken Shamrock. - Mid-Atlantic Saturday Night, for some unknown reason (no doubt someone spilled vegetable juice on the camera again), was pre-empted this week, meaning President Plague is an even more imcompetant boob than I originally thought. - NWA: Japan Ichiban TV pulled in a final number of 2.10, which has to be considered good news, going up nearly a full 10th of a point, and closing the gap that has been President Geists' lead in the ratings. With tons of wrestling featured this week, we got to see glimpses of several of the 1st Round Tournament Matches, it has to be considered a disappointment with the quality of matches, easily down from last weeks, but still featuring 2 must-see matches despite a show filled with some major filler. - NWA: Pushing the Limits continues to be absent from television, so again, no news about their Saturday Night, no ratings, no money, no attendance, no nothing. June 3rd, 2006 NWA Matches of the Night: Mexico: Juventud Guerrera vs. Latin Lover (75/70/81) MidWest: CM Punk vs. Chad Collyer (77/63/92) CSW: Ken Shamrock vs. Jeff Jarrett (85/82/89) Japan: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Taiyo Kea (71/50/93) Mid-Atlantic: No Episode Broadcasted (LOSER!) CENTRAL STATES WRESTLING With the BattleBowl Tournament beginning this week, expect plenty of chaos to happen backstage and on the Cyclone Saturday Night's. With such a concept, who knows how messy things will get when egos backstage start running wild. The only participants confirmed for the BattleBowl so far include Shelton Benjamin, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Johnny Devine, Steve Corino, Petey Williams, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, Psicosis, Super Crazy, and NWA Japan Import CIMA. Other names rumored for competition includes everyone on the god damn roster. Speaking of BattleBowl, during a casual conversation with CSW President Geist, names have been dropped for who might end up winning the thing, including the above mentioned Shelton Benjamin, and the (as of this typing) yet-to-debut Brock Lesnar. With so many big names in the contest, it will be hard to get a 100% true pick, but safe money bets are on those two to move on to the Championship match at Redemption. CSW President Geist continues to lash his tongue at his fellow promotions presidents. Although commenting he would be interested in possibly setting up a deal with President Plague, he has been quoted to have commenting that he doesn't know how to book people properly, and it wouldn't matter if he was pushing Christopher Daniels or Tatanka, that everyone would be in the same situation because of his lack of angles. Sources close to President Geist have informed me that there's already problems brewing between the President and newly aquired "Superstar" Steve Corino. Apparently the decision to keep Corino out of his battlebowl match completely was the idea of Corino, who was upset that he would be playing the guy who gets his ass-kicked, considering the up-coming push for Brock Lesnar, who no doubt will not be made to look vulnerable this early in his run with CSW. Other conflicting reports seem to indicate that this was just a matter of creative difference, and nothing personal will come out of the disagreement. The CSW Event Center has already confimed one match for the June 17th, 2006 episode of Cyclone Saturday Night, featuring an 8-Man Battle Royale where the winner advances to the KC Border Championship Match at CSW Redemption. The participants of the match are the following: Steve Corino, Brock Lesnar, Psicosis, CIMA, Maven, Austin Aries, Billy Kidman, and Petey Williams. With only two serious choices to win this match, don't be surprised if the final 2 comes down to two men who were partners last week, and one of them didn't even wrestle in the match! Other matches confirmed for the CSW Redemption SuperCard, sans the finals of the Battlebowl tournament to crown the first KC Border Champion, includes Jeff Jarrett defending his Championship against Triple H in a rematch from last months supercard, and just signed, a grudge match between Alex Shelley and X-Pac, which will be held under 2 out of 3 Falls Rules. There are strong rumors that Samoa Joe vs. Masato Tanaka might be added to the card, which will definitely take Tanaka out of the running for the Battlebowl finals. You can also expect a tag title match, no doubt a rematch between the Mexicools and Natural Born Thrillers. Despite doing their best to keep things under wraps, the following five names have been confirmed for participation in the Great American Bash championship run to determine who will represent Central States Wrestling: Samoa Joe, Ken Shamrock, Triple H, Jeff Jarrett, and Steve Corino. With a list of wonderful contenders like that, let's hope some other promotion reigns supreme at the Great American Bash. NEW ENGLAND WRESTLING As it has been confirmed, unfortunate weather on the east coast has caused the cancelation of all sporting events, leaving NEW Saturday Night dead in the water for this weeks. Although President Rowe was able to put together a great Recap Show, those close to him have found it difficult for him to get things together, now doubt disappointed that he couldn't prove his nay-sayers wrong by putting on a blow-away card he was expecting to produce. With the weather calming down, it is more than likely that NEW Saturday Night will go on as planned next week. With various roster changes for the last week while getting things together, President Rowe seems to be showing a bit of jealousy towards fellow NWA Promotion Central States Wrestling. As he has reported on his official webpage, Viscera had been released from his contract. A few days prior to his release, several of NEW's Superstars witnessed a confrontation in the locker room after Rowe found Viscera watching CSW Cyclone Saturday Night, and started insulting him, resulting in a brief scuffle. After finding out last week that President Geist was willing to offer up James Gibson in the trade for Steve Corino, President Rowe has been quite open about wanting another trade to aquire him. When relaying the comments toward President Geist, I am able to confirm that CSW is not too interested in another deal, but Geist would warm up to a trade if NEW was willing to put Tajiri up in the offer. That's not all the news between the ongoing feud with NEW and CSW. After reading President Geist's comments about his promotion last week, President Rowe filed back, claiming among other things, that President Geist is the biggest dickhead working under the NWA Umbrella, and that he worries too much about workrate rather than entertainment. When asked how he felt about the latest ratings battle, President Rowe had claimed that the ratings don't matter, and things will change in the coming weeks. NWA MEXICO As I've already reported as part of a breaking news story, NWA Mexico held it's first Arena Show on May 19th, drawing an attendance of 1,630 people, slightly up from the numbers reported earlier in the weekend. Although no further events have been set, President Mad Dog has made a brief statement, hinting at the possibility of others, maybe as soon as a few weeks from now. For those wanting another quick rundown, here were the results from the card... 1. Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Tarzan Boy def. Acero Dorado, Safari, Super Calo (2-0) 2. Virus, Octagon, El Zorro def. Pirata Morgan, Electro Shock, Cuervo (2-1) 3. Mexico's Most Wanted def. Los Vipers (2-1) 4. Averno, Mephisto, Groon XXX def. Latin Lover, La Parka II, Billy Boy (2-1) 5. El Hijo del Santo, Ultimo Dragon, L.A. Par-K def. Juventud Guerrera, Dr. Wagner Jr., Fuerza Guerrera (2-1) NWA Mexico also held it's 1st SuperCard this weekend, Road To The Title, featuring all of the 2nd Round National Title Tournament matches. The following are the complete quick-form results from the show and my quick-quick ratings for each match. To view the entire cards detailed results, you can find them at the NWA: Mexico's homepage. 1. Fuerza Guerrera (Capt), Cibernetico, Olimpico def. Octagon (Capt), Acero Dorago, El Zorro (2 falls to 1) - (59/42/76) 2. Charly Manson def. Dos Caras Jr. - (57/43/72) 3. Virus def. Mephisto - (62/35/89) 4. Ultimo Guerrero def. Pirata Morgan - (50/25/70) 5. Ultimo Dragon def. Tarzan Boy - (63/46/81) 6. Dr. Wagner Jr. def. Halloween - (73/54/93) 7. L.A. Par-K def. Perro Aguayo Jr. - (77/66/89) - **MATCH OF THE NIGHT** 8. El Hijo Del Santo def. Abismo Negro - (73/66/80) 9. Juventud Guerrera def. Mr. Aguila - (69/46/92) President Mad Dog has already confirmed the lineup for next weeks episode of Saturday Night, featuring all of the Quarter-Final matches of the National Championship: Juventud Guerrera vs. El Hijo Del Santo, Ultimo Guerrero vs. Virus, Charly Manson vs. L.A. Par-K, and Ultimo Dragon vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. Tips from within the promotion seem to be pointing to Juventud, Guerrero, L.A. Par-K, and Wagner advancing into the Semi-Finals. Also scheduled this week is the following Trios Match: Blue Demon Jr. (Capt), Octagon, and Super Calo vs. Olimpico, Histeria II, and Psicosis. Yes, it's another must-see week for NWA: Mexico Television. In one has to be a shocking and stunning blow, Electro Shock, who has been battling a severe addiction to Cocaine, checked himself into a Rehabilitation center this weekend. No set time has been made for his return, if he will be welcome back by President M.D., but this should be a step in the right direction for cleaning himself up, and hopefully will be back within 2-3 months. No word has been sent on who, if anyone, will be filling in his obligated bookings for upcoming NWA: Mexico Events. NWA MIDWEST Following this weeks episode of Midwest Saturday Night, President Swigg was kind enough to give a brief comment over a certain situation involving Nick Dinsmore. After confirming a possibility of a Lord of the Rings/Batista relationship to take on the British Invasion & William Regal, President Swigg had become suspicious of Dinsmore's request of working with William Regal, fearing he might be going into business for himself, at the risk of putting his tag team run in jeopardy. In other notes taken from my statement with President Swigg, heavyweight unsensation is up on the trading block for anyone willing to work out a deal. Disappointed in Brown's performance and attitude over the last couple of weeks, President Swigg has stated he will accept any offers to fill-up his lack of midcard faces pool. So there you have it other NWA Promotions... have it at for the guy who can't wrestle his way out of a wet and slightly open already paper bag. With Summer Glory already here, you can expect the Chris Benoit/Bill Alfonso angle to progress through the summer. With Sabu brought into the angle to defend his long-time manager, the most often thrown around scenario is Chris Benoit taking on both men in a Handicap match, with Benoit beating Sabu clean, and then taking out Alfonso, which can either end the angle altogether, or take Alfonso off television for about a month or so before returning with another threat to challenge Benoit. After leaking out the troubles between Balls Mahoney and several members of the Midwest Roster for his stiff work, President Swigg claims to have pulled Mahoney aside and requested he loosen up on his performances. Punishments in case these activies continue include suspension or the possibility of a trade. If a trade were to be set up, what does this leave for Axl Rotten? He would definitely be a fish out of water in the singles division, and without someone else to share the blame, his chance at being a tag team wrestler much longer would be in jeopardy unless President Swigg could find a partner suitable for his style. As it has already been played out on Midwest Saturday Night, the recently signed Roddy Piper has been brought in as a figure-head/authority figure. Midwest could've done the better thing and not do that kind of angle period, but with Piper on the open market and being one of the best talkers, at least he chose the best possibily candidate available. No word on how long this angle will play out, but it's been reported down from the office of President Swigg that his contract is set for 3 months, with an option to renew if they can come to a financial agreement. With Piper's first on air decision scheduling a 4-Corners Tag Title Match for Summer Glory, let's hope he gets to announce much more important decisions. NWA PTL: Pushing the Limits Rumors have been flying like crazy regarding the future of the 7th and hands down weakest of the NWA Territories. With the owner missing in action, no return in site of the company to television, no supercard scheduled, and everyone basically left in the dark, the remaining NWA Presidents held a special Conference and announced that if PTL Saturday Night doesn't air next week, the PTL will be disbanded from the NWA, and a special "Expansion" Draft will be held the following week, where each of the 6 remaining promotions will randomly select orders to determine who they will get to pick from the former-PTL Roster. There's still a SMALL chance the PTL will return, but I have my money on it not happening, and will be waiting to see where PTL Superstars wind up, if anywhere other than the unemployment line. NWA MID-ATLANTIC There have been talks recently of Mid-Atlantic President Plague will be starting a Womens Division sometime in the near future. This rumor leads me to question what was the point in trading Trish Stratus to Central States in the first place. It would make a lot of sense to base the promotion around her, who is quite easily the most over female wrestler in north america, and has enough talent to carry other workers. Unless Plague makes some big moves to hype up this division, I see it falling flat like Crystal Pepsi. Due to a unusual cancelation of television this week, President Plague has already confirmed there will be a special 2-Hour Broadcast of Saturday Night next week to make up for the inconvenience. So instead of 1 hour of nonsense, you'll get double your pleasure. JUST LIKE THAT GUM... uh... the ones with twins... uh.. Big Red? With No Mid-Atlantic Television, it's hard to make up any news, since it was hard enough to try and make sense of to begin with... so fuck anyone who wants to read about them. NWA: JAPAN Sources close to President Kido have confirmed with me that the recent interraction between Samoa Joe and Masato Tanaka to help push an angle for Central States Wrestling will not be the last we see of interpromotional booking. CSW President Geist has given no word though on who might be used in potential future storylines. Despite rampant rumors flying around for the past few weeks from various wrestlers to employers close to the President of NWA Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if Kenta Kobashi winds up winning the NWA Japan Championship Tournament, although it appears that the plans for the winner of the Tournament seems to be changing back-and-forth on a daily basis. With NWA Japan's 1st SuperCard coming up in the next couple of weeks, President Kido has done an excellent job of keeping everything hush-hush about what will be taking place. Outside of the Japan Championship Tournament matches (most likely the Finals), the only other match that seems more than likely of taking place will be Jushin Liger vs. KENTA, which shouldn't come as a surprise considering the interaction between the two in recent weeks. Considering all of the chaos that has been going on with storylines on Ichibian TV, a rumored storyline involves the Japan President issuing a sort of "Code of Honor", which will rule as a inforced law that anyone who gets out of line in others matches will be heavily fined and/or suspended. There's already been one victim of suspension without the Code of Honor, but with it restored, there could be a lot more. |

| I forgot about the graphic. :( I told Geist last night I was rushing to finish thanks to a certain someone suddenly "pre-empting" their show 4 days after it was suppose to happen, and just wanted to get things done this morning. |
