Title: Let's have a conversation.....
Big F'N Swigg - March 31, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
Okay, since I believe this is, in all honesty, both a great idea for an EWR diary and a great idea to set us apart from other boards, I think we should talk about the DWB NWA.
What prevented this from working?
I mean, other than DAVE disappearing, which is related to circumstance.
Was it a lack of structure? Was it scheduling?
Let's hear it....
jamiegeist - March 31, 2006 09:40 PM (GMT)
I never understood what the hell you guys were doing. I love fantasy booking, but it all came about so fast that I didn't know what the hell was going on.
Just an outside opinion.
Scrooge McSuck - March 31, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
I would've participated, but I deleted all EWR stuff, and it's really a pain in the ass for me to have to download WinZip again, then downloaded all the proper files.
<---Lazy.
TheGreatWhiteChoate - March 31, 2006 09:48 PM (GMT)
I'm willing to step in, but I'm probably going to run my division into the ground.
Mad Dog - March 31, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
I think part of it was Christmas and people having a break from college.
SamoaRowe - March 31, 2006 10:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah, perhaps it should be restarted this summer. I know I would've participated, but I wasn't even keeping up with my own EWR diary at the time, so I knew I would've dragged it down.
eStragand - March 31, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
My problem: I missed one week, and suddenly was about two months behind everybody. Seemed like everyone else was booking too far in advance and I was overwhelmed. The instant NWA tournament was another problem for me. I figured that would've been about six months down the road, not six days.
Plus, the constant roster additions, signings and releases were confusing.
Scrooge McSuck - April 1, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)
Old Man E' can't keep up with us young pups. ;)
Maybe my loser-ass-self should resume my crappy video games booking. Gives me a chance t play FirePro Wrestling 2 again for GBA.

So would it help to limit posting shows to once a week, with exceptions for big events? And clearer announcements for Big things like Tournaments?

Yeah, I'd say so. Once per week in real time, not game time.
jamiegeist - April 1, 2006 06:49 AM (GMT)
Whatever this is, I want an explanation, and I wanna play...or whatever.

We basically started an EWR NWA. Everyone claimed a territory and we had a draft for workers. It lasted for a bit, but it kind of fizzled out.
Right now, I'm trying to find out why it fizzled out, and find a way to fix the issues.
Big F'N Swigg - April 1, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Ok, so we post once a week in real time, with exception for events.
And maybe we find a better way to do roster moves. Like it's own thread.
Anything else?

Those sound like good ideas. I'm in.
Big F'N Swigg - April 1, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
Ok, I'll work on re-writing all the rules. I'll use Mad Dog's original post as a starting point
SamoaRowe - April 2, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
I'd like to participate if this thing gets restarted.
Big F'N Swigg - April 2, 2006 03:44 PM (GMT)
Good deal.
I'll post up some of the rules soon and we can see if they're agreeable.
Big F'N Swigg - April 4, 2006 02:26 AM (GMT)
This is a rough draft of some of the rules. There are more, but I figured that it would be better to offer them up bit by bit as it allows for some conversation.
| QUOTE (NWA Territories) |
A DWB NWA Territory consists of a grouping of (States or Cities) in which the player's game takes place.
Each person playing a territory is given a spot on the DWB NWA Committee. The NWA Committee is responsible for the selection of NWA World Champions and for matters concerning several territories, including the expansion of the DWB NWA.
Each Territory starts with a weekly Televised Show (NWA Saturday Night) airing Saturday nights on TBS in the late evening timeslot. These shows are posted weekly, in REAL TIME in a thread devoted to the current week's shows.
Each Territory will also feature one "Event" per month. This "Event" is a large show of Pay Per View caliber, posted in a monthly "Event" thread in GAME TIME.
(NOTE.... The following is only if we gain more members and decide to expand our little game...)
Anyone wishing to start a DWB NWA Territory must first decide on the location of their territory. After choosing the location, they must petition the NWA Committee, who will then decide whether or not to grant them a territory in the DWB NWA.

D.A.V.E. - April 4, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
I can't do it. I lost my EWR game
jamiegeist - April 4, 2006 07:55 PM (GMT)
I want to do this. Do I need one of those EWR thingies, and a working knowledge of it?
eStragand - April 4, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
For those too lazy to check the other threads: Swiggy posted a lil' somethin' for all your EWR needs:
http://s7.invisionfree.com/Da_Wrestling_Bo...?showtopic=2350I'll probably sit this one out. I just lost enthusiasm for the game.
prof_plague - April 4, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
I was doing fine, but mid-terms and finals sneak up real fast.
SamoaRowe - April 5, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)
I'd probably be good to go for this, though the level of detail I use in my results might vary depending on what else is on my plate at the time.
Any chance I can get New England? B)
whitemilesdavis - April 7, 2006 12:57 AM (GMT)
All right, this sounds like good nerdy fun. I'm doing the downloads as we speak. How do we separate territories?
Big F'N Swigg - April 7, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
We'll do a draw for them. I have some more nerdy rules I'll type in tomorrow. Concerning the NWA World Champions.
Mad Dog - April 7, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
I'm going to have to bow out of this. I'm a little tapped on creative writing right now.
whitemilesdavis - April 7, 2006 12:20 PM (GMT)
Oh come on. Es and Mad Dog. We gotta have you two lunatics to make this fun.
Mad Dog - April 7, 2006 01:10 PM (GMT)
I can't really devote the time to this to make it really worthwhile. Unless I can just jump on with Xtreme Suck Wrestling or something.

Is everyone ok with these rules for the Territories?
jamiegeist - April 7, 2006 11:01 PM (GMT)
When you say posted in real time.....do you just mean generally Saturday....or actually in the timeslot. Cause thats a little......precise for me.
And I guess the only part I'm a little confused on is how this all intertwines in each of our individual games. How do we know how the other is doing....or is it totally unrealted, outside of this board.
SamoaRowe - April 8, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
Those rules are okay for me, though I'd like to be able to schedule my big events as I see fit (meaning every NWA promotion doesn't have a big event the same night.
Those rules look fine though. I'd like to petition to be New England (or at least just New Hampshire).

Real time means we put up a thread every week, and you post your show in there sometime in that week. So you have a week to write shows.
"Events" are played whenever you want them. We don't have to overlap those.
And the interweaving isn't actually in the games we play. It's basically to limit our rosters, and provide us with traveling champions. That keeps things a bit fresh, and sometimes challenging. Once the traveling champions start, you have to keep an eye on other people's shows to get an idea of how they're booking the World Champs, and the guys who will be World Champs.
jamiegeist - April 8, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
I see. Sounds delicious.
Color me interested. Even though my knowledge of workers outside of TNA and WWE is limited, so I'll be stockpiling those worthless bastards.
whitemilesdavis - April 8, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Umm, I want Mid-Atlantic, Georgia or Florida.
jamiegeist - April 9, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
So, can we like, start this damn thing?
Big F'N Swigg - April 9, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
I'm about ready to. We'll need to do a talent draft. I'll post the info on that in a bit
jamiegeist - April 9, 2006 10:50 PM (GMT)
Amen bro. I'm pumped. I wanna do this shiznit.
jamiegeist - April 9, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
So, how many people are in? Me, Swigg, Rowe, DK, LFV?, Mad Dog out?, EStragand?
SamoaRowe - April 10, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
I'm definitly in, just sent my draft list :)
